I think there are only a handful of people in the world actively searching these, if it's more than 100 in the entire world I'd be surprised. Ah well, plenty to go around, then.

So I ran into these images the other day, noticed this big guy in the back ground. I emailed the owner of the images to see if he still had this castle, but sadly he didnt. He was nice enough to send me a picture of his. I asked him for a picture of the back and he didn't have one, but he assured me there was empty plastic with no detailing or stickers of any kind. I'm glad to see this thing actually exists. It's the first time I've ever seen one "in the wild" I guess.

I can confirm the story on the backside this is the monster castle, its a fragile thing but really beautiful

WOW...probably the best, clearest photo I've seen of the Monster Castle! I always assumed that was a snake sculpted near the bottom left...and the weird monster face has cool little leech teeth...wicked! Now...about that hand...if anyone owns, has owned or handled one...does it do anything or kinda just hang out and flop around. Part of me always thought it might have a lever in the back to trap figures...also, does it glow?

The castle is pretty cool. My cousin owns one. And yes, it's very fragile. Like the Castle Grayskull store displays.
If anyone need more pics let me know, I can post some. Just have to visit my cousin to take the photos.

Cool, I'd wanna see the back just for the sake of sheer curiosity, since the odds of me ever owning one are slim.

Alfi, is this your cousin's pic? If so could you ask him if we could use it on the site's archive? It really is a great pic. LMK, would also love to see the back of it.

I'll take some pics this evening. You can use them for the website if you want to. I'll take a few photos from different angles so you can pick the the ones you think are the best.

Ok, I'm not the best photographer, but here's some pics: Front: Back A wooden handle to attach to the hand as a handle to move the hand. I'm not sure if this is original. It's maybe possible that the original Castle of Doom (or whatever it is called) has a lever/handle made of plastic.

Heh...wow...kinda ghetto-rigged...a wooden handle? This thing really is more cheap-o than I thought! Is the plastic really as thin as people say it is? Just so hard to believe!
I always wanted some kinda castle to use with my MotU knock offs but they are either too hard to find (or impossible). May have to resort to paper mache.
Thanks for the pics...and the insights!

I hope to get another pic from a friend who has one to to confirm that it didn't come with a wooden handle. Well the plastic is thin. I'd say take a Castle Grayskull and remove like 1/3 of the plastic that was used and you can imagine how this one kinda feels. It's way better than paper

New info: A friend mentioned that the castle Set came with 3 or 4 base plates with craters. I know my cousin (who owns the castle) has these base plates too and they came with the castle.
I've seen only a few pics of a boxed version of the castle. So does anyone know if there's any info on the box that the castle came with base plates?
I hope to get some pics of the base plates soon.

They pop up on eBay Germany several times a year. I got mine for $220 shipped to the US. Most of the time the hand will be missing or the eye will be. I got lucky on mine, it had both. Its a very nice playset, not as cheap and thin as most people say. Its no castle grayskull mind you but still sturdy.

i love the face part of the castle, it sort of makes the whole thing to me. i sort of get the feeling from all these pics that they are sell thin and delicate people are afraid to even clean them up?

I had the castle loose with the eye missing (replaced it with some red paper) and bought another one boxed. Figured i'd sell the loose one To my surprise the castles where different in color/ material I can tell you there is no room for extras in the box, nor does it mention the plates I do have the plates however since they where in the same auktion as the boxed castle i bought The plates are big i know there are pictures of them posted before on this site

I guess there are multiple version of the boxed castle. I spoke to my cousin and he told me that he got his castle + the plates in one single auction, so did you. And I know of two other guys where this was the same case.
Too bad my castle does not have the plates, but sometimes even the plates show up seperatetly or (unfortunately) in big lots with MotU figures that are way too expensive.

Rocklord, so do you think it would make the journey from overseas up to Canada if I ever did find one at a decent price? Just as long as its no Blackstar Ice Castle.

Hey chad, I see no reason why not. Just tell the shipper to carefully pack it up. Its quite sturdy actually, no where near the ice castle quality.

The plastic isn't fragile, it will sooner dent than shatter.
