I just got back from a one hour round-trip drive to replace a fried computer mouse. The town I live in rolls up the sidewalks about 8 pm during the week! Anyhow, I went to a Wal-Mart and happened to find myself in the toy aisle(as I often do). Not expecting to find anything new, I found a bunch of apparently new figures and items from the upcoming new Superman movie. Quite to my surprise, I liked how the 3 3/4" figures were done. As my part of my figure loving psychosis, I counted how many of the individually carded figures there were. There were 42 total figures on the pegs with 7 different versions of Superman and 2 different versions of General Zod. The different versions of Superman broke up like this: 11, 8, 6, 5, 3, 3, and 1. Zod: 4, 1. Of course my interest went towards the figures of which there was only 1 each. There were also 4 Wal-Mart exclusive 3 3/4" scale items.

Target recently opened up here and I saw these while checking it out last week. Never really looked at them in detail, the $10.99 per figure price tag scared me away.

The 3 3/4" scale figures at Wal-Mart are $6.97. That's not too bad when compared to some other brands.

The 3 3/4 figures have bad articulation and because so I will not be buying any of these figures, once again Mattel disappoints with making smaller figures worthless. I like some of the molds but I refuse to support their cheap crafted figures.

I would have liked articulation at the knees and waist, but I like the sculpts. I like the Movie Masters figures but I'll have to see as far as budgeting as to whether I'll buy them or not.

I'll stick with my Microman Superman Returns figure. Decent sculpt and articulation. Takara also did a good job with the Microlady Supergirl figure. Fun little gal. Too bad Takara has since discontinued their Microman line. Would've been interesting to see what they would have done with Man Of Steel.

I've yet to see these in person. Just saw some of the toddler toy versions. I didn't think the Superman Returns figures were that bad, they just didn't bother making any extra bad guys until it was too late.
If anything, they should have done more wacky Superman costumes in that line. Almost every Supes was regular costume, but with some sort of wacky action. A couple color variants could have spiced things up, with a nice NORMAL Superman figure. But I digress...

These did not appeal to me at all. Just a bunch of minor repaints of the same figure ala the Dark Knight Rises figures.
The only one i Kinda likedwas the all red Superman.

Imo, these are at least more visually appealing than the Dark Knight Rises figures.

I agree Spock. I plan on picking a few up and I like some of the Superman variants. Yeah, I said it. However, I do wish they had knees. If they had knees, I would DEFINITELY buy them, as opposed to "maybe" buy them. The Dark Knight figures just looked like Happy Meal toys (cliche as that sounds) because of their low sculpting and articulation.

I already saw the basic figures (no accessories) at Kohls. Of course, they cost as much there as the ones WITH accessories elsewhere, so you can bet that these will show up in the Dollar/Drug/Discount stores as well.

Today I found me some Movie Masters figures of Superman and General Zod, pretty good looking figures of the DC Universe Classics body molds. If they did put out Jor-el as well it looks like he was the choice figure to sell first cause I didn't see him.

I bought the last figure they had on the pegs of these at one store, General Zod. I also saw 2 more new figures on Entertainment Earth that are available as pre-orders I believe.

I have the first Zod and Superman from the Movie Masters. I have seen Jor-El 3 or 4 times but of course it was before I decided whether I wanted them or not. It seems like finding Jor-El at retail is also going to be a chore. I don't know if the second version of Zod and Faora are going to be online only or what, but Faora is already a pre-sell out at a major online toy seller. The only thing the two figures that I have need are a set of different hands in case you don't want them in a perpetual fighting stance. But they look good and have articulation, so I'm happy.

The General Zod with Kryptonian Armor and Faora figures are already out as well and I found them at Target and Wal-Mart so far.

insert code here The General Zod with Kryptonian Armor and Faora figures are already out as well and I found them at Target and Wal-Mart so far. They will probably be hot at first but hopefully I can get my stinking paws on those eventually . There's advantages and disadvantages to living in a small town without either of those stores or ones like those.

The Man of Steel as well as the Dark Knight figures remind me too much of Happy Meal toys....About 7 years ago, McDonalds included a few GI Joe figures with the same articulation in their kid's meals.

I hear that! Basic assortment comic/movie figures nowadays look like they should only cost two dollars and come with a cheeseburger.

Another case assortment or something was at the Wal-Mart I went to tonight and I did manage to get a Movie Masters Jor-El. They also put out the first version of Zod again but with shackles. The same figure, just with a set of shackles. Not for me at $16 a pop. And, after looking at it harder the 3 3/4" "Krypton Combat" Superman did make me hungry for some fries and a shake .

Well, my worst nightmare has come true. Okay, maybe not my WORST nightmare. My worst nightmare was J.J. Abrams doing Star Trek. But let's just say this one is quite up there. Last night at my local Alco store I saw repaints of the 3 3/4" figures on micro cards, ala The Dark Knight Rises figures. There they were, sans accessories. What's worse is I'll probably buy them !

I was given a Wal-Mart gift card for my b-day and got the last two Wal-Mart exclusive 3 3/4" figures I didn't have. Now to have almost all the 3 3/4" figures I know of there's just three of the discount market repaint figures to get. There's one on the TRU website called Battle Slashed Superman as well. A collector's job is never over .

Not really a fan. I was checking them out. I just am not big on most modern movie lines, and right now, the toy aisles are FILLED with them.

That's the strange part for me, I'm not into modern movie lines to speak of much either if we're talking superhero movies. Mattel should have done a mail-in offer on the 3 3/4" figures. They could have offered a Jor-El, Faora, or maybe a Lois Lane figure. Just saying...

I like the Power Attack figures but not enough to pay full retail for them unless I have a rare instance of having money to burn. I'm having keeping up with enough stuff as is.

I found the Movie Masters Zod with shackles on clearance at Wal-Mart. I said I wasn't going to buy him but they knocked $5 off the price plus the figure is slightly different, with a scar on the left side of his face. I found the Movie Masters Zod in Kryptonian armor at, of all places, a bookstore in a mall. I know better than to purposely go out looking for a Faora.
