Dune seems to be yet another 80s figure line that seems to show up more on Ebay MOC than loose (like Bionic Six & Captain Power). I always wondered why that is. I think the reason may be that people just don't recognize the loose figures for what they are since it is a slightly obscure line. I don't own any of the figures, but I do have a MIB Sandworm. Still working on tracking down some complete figs. Below is a scan I found of the LJN catalog. Two figures featured in it, Gurney Halleck and The lady Jessica were never produced.

a flea market vendor (no longer there) has a baron harkonen. I picked it up and was wondering what it was and realized it was from dune. I didn't take it, sort of a really ugly figure.

I saw that figure there. I think she wanted $20 for it with no accessories.

10incher do you have pics of the sandworm toy? I thought I'd heard it was never released in stores?

Yep, you can see it Here. Just click on the Sandworm name in the list on the right and it will show up. I actually own this figure MIB

Thats actually very cool. Looks like the worm can bend and curve all over the place. LJN seems like it was a very cool toy company. I didn't have many toys by them when I was a kid. I'm interested in collecting the Thundercats line though. Does anyone know why they ever went out of business?

I think the reason there are so many MOC's for this line is because they never really sold in stores. The Dune movie(s) weren't really kid-oriented, so when wandering the toy aisle, I doubt that many if any started barraging their parents to buy them. Same story when they went to second-tier stores. As a result, collectors and toy-sharks gobbled them up cheap by the case.

I have a question regarding this line. I saw a bunch of these figures recently on ebay listed as "never played with in sealed baggies" or something to that effect. To my knowledge these figures came carded and not in baggies inside the bubble either. The ones for sale don't have any accessories either. The thing is they do look to be in mint condition and to not have every been unwrapped. Anyone have any idea what's up with these?
Btw, 10incher I'm very envious of that sandworm. I am a big fan of the books and the movie and have been for years.

If I remember correctly, a number of these have come up over the last 10 years in baggies (though been many years since i saw them as i completed the Dune Line long ago), not sure if the weapons are in them are not though? I believe it was for a promo similar to the select vintage Star wars figures that were released in baggies.

Yea I'm pretty sure they don't come with accessories since Feyd is one of the ones for sale and his cat milking machine would be pretty visible if it were in the baggie with him. Not sure why Fayd would be the one to come with the cat but eh well, if you're going to get a misb figure you should get the accessories as well in my opinion. It is pretty funny that they made this line though since its definitely NOT a kid's movie. However, the sculpts are very good likenesses. Otherwise I wouldn't be interested in these but they do a very good justice to the movie. Even the vehicles are awesome in my humble opinion .

Dune was one of the great Hollywood catastrophes of the early 80s. It ranks up there with Water World. Not surprisingly it was also a flop for LJN. If Dune and DnD were as successful as they should have been, LJN may not have folded. I have seen lots of the Dune figures in bags. They did not come with any accessories. I posted some more pics of Dune stuff including the unproduced thopter. www.virtualtoychest.com/d/dune/dune.html

these figures are cool but ljn made them in an odd size at the time when 3 3/4 was the norm and they didnt play with other lines very well- they are great.they were sold off in baggies when the line stopped- the figures are in baggies often befor they are put on cards in the factory if the lne is cancelled you often get the uncarded baggied figures sold off.

I want the Fremen knife playset. My brothers and I used to have knifefights with rubber knives and that one would be the ultimate!

You can definitely complete a carded set of these for cheapish, but finding one without a severely yellowed bubble is nigh impossible in my experience.

Yeah I've never ever seen any of these outside of ebay. Has anyone ever personally had their hands on the playset? I'm wondering what the scale is...
