Anybody wonder why hasbro didnt elaborate on the cobra la toys? I mean that bug that golobulous rides like a chariot definately should have been made into a vehicle.

I've always thought the same thing. plus a Cobra Commander in mid transformation from man to big ole snake would kick ass as well.

I think it's because Larry Hama hated the idea, mostly...that's why Hasbro really didn't push the whole Cobra-La schtick further. Hama's considered kinda like the granddad of the Real American Hero 80s mythos...he wrote most of the filecards and such and was heavily involved in the comics. I'm sure you could look up a wealth of info on him.
There seems to have been ideas floating around about making newer style Cobra-La stuff as revealed through concept sketches at the last Joe convention. Maybe...in time...we'll see new stuff. So giddy over the possibilities. Larry Hama would skewer me if he read this.
Incidentally, the old Golobulus toy wouldn't make a good chew toy...just sayin'...metal wire inside...*GUCK*!!!

I remember the prototype shown in the catalogs that had a shorter solid tail that the figure could stand on. I wonder if Globby was originally intended to be released that way.

I always liked the coolness of Globulus as a kid, but he definitely didn't function well in my gameplay. He could never just be setup well like most Joes. I always seemed to pose my Joes in Battle more than acting out every little scene.

they should have made his tail more flexible to where it could coil around and he could be propped up. not a great display fig.

I would always pose them really cool in battle stands, and then never have the time to do anything from there.

Yes, it was really just a backstory for Cobra Commander & Serpentor; nothing to do with GI Joe.
