I was born in 79 and Star Wars was huge for me as soon as I could play with toys. I am willing to bet my first star wars figure was Chewbaccas as I remember sleeping with him every night to keep me safe fomr the 'boogey man.' I also remember my mom buying me 3 or 4 hoth Lukes. Looking back I am guessing she found them on sale or clearance.

I also remember trying to come up with the $1.78 to buy the rest of the figures. What are they like $10 each retail? Depressing!

Not my first, but my favorite is the Sandcrawler. AND this video is hilarious!
Luke always intended to use the Force to grab beers from the fridge!

I had seen the first two Star Wars movies maybe once each on tv by the time I got my first figures. It was 1983 or 84 and I would have been 3 or 4. Kmart, I believe, finagled my mom into getting me two (WOW! cuz her ass was always pretty cheap...) and I picked my two faves: the red guy (B-Wing pilot), as red was my favorite color, and the angry teddy bear (Wicket). Not long after, I got the skeleton robot (8D8).
e2a: Thinking about it, 8D8 was my favorite guy. I called my figures guys. But aside from being a robot skeleton, he had horseshoe magnets for hands so he harnessed the power of magnetism, he had a tiny backpack-looking dealie which in my internal logic I interpreted as a jetpack--plus the peg holes in his feet were hidden rocket boosters, and he had the "feature" of removable legs which meant he also worked for me as a crude partsformer where you would reverse the legs and then fold him like one of those crummy Gobots monsters and he would become an airspeeder and the arms then became rotating magnetic and or laser weapons. He really had it goin' on.
