I have often though about this, what year should the line have ended? I have every figure in the line except the gold head steel brigade....thats about 300+ figures...so I have really given it alot of thought.
I have never met anyone who said it should have ended earlier than 1983 or lated than 1990...no on is a fan of the 1991 to 1994 stuff...right?

I voted for 1990 for no other reason than its a nice number that ends in zero. I didn't really "mind" the early 1990's figures, I just was really bummed the more they started getting away from the army theme. That and the fact that Hasbro went way overboard with all of the rocket launching weapons - I think they are really lame.

I said 88, I didn't like the whole tiger force and night force recycled figures. It just started to get lame

Aside from a few nice figures, I think it's safe to say that 1990 is when the G.I. Joe line officially jumped the shark. We got some good figures like Cesspool, but after that it all went neon and these non canon rehashes of old characters started to appear. A Tiger Force repaint line? Great. But Dusty in neon colours? Never mind. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Street Fighter figures and that they're compatible with Joe, but they're not part of the story and never will be.

1990 for me other than a few exceptions.

I'm with treckmeyer; I chose '88. That was the last year that still felt like G.I. Joe to me and before the line began to go all neon on us.

I chose 88' as well, for the same reason as trekmeyer and Plastic hero.

90's probably even though I did like the Street Fighter line.

I actually liked the Neon Green Firefly figure and the Electric yellow and bright blue Eel figure some what but military it wasnt. Having Hit N' Run scale down the mountain side (my couch) to square off against..neon yellow eels? No. Had they used plastic rivets in the shoulders and elbows back then though they could have made whatever the sam hell they pleased as they are a customizers friend.
