Great collection. I especially like the planes.
I saw some vintage circus figures and animals (I think from the fifties) that I really liked the other day. Its seems like alot of the theme figures arent being made these days.

Thanks for the comments.
Some of the bayonettes and gun tips broke off over time, a few casualties lost their heads and a few were deformed when i got them.

Did you ever seen or collected Zero Hour? They were tiny army men with vehicles and playsets I still have 3 sets of them I'll try and get some pics up soon. I think you would like them. I had those black ninjas In the 2nd pic of ninjas I remember they came with seperate black and red weapons. I remember ZERO HOUR - by Bluebird Toys, it was their follow up to MANTA FORCE. I had the B.A.D. BRIGADE soldiers pack and then got the yellow bus and trike set. By then Mattel had bought out Bluebird Toys and renamed ZERO HOUR as CODE ZERO oh I should say Bluebird had initially given then the licence to distribute their toys in Europe as CODE ZERO, then Mattel bought them out simply for their Polly Pocket brand. They still own the rights to ALL the old Bluebird Toys ranges but won't budge on bringing either MANTA FORCE or ZERO HOUR back... While I did like them I felt the 1.72 size figures were a bit naff - they should have made the figures bigger, bit like MASK maybe as kids do like articulation. The vehicles were good - but had a simplistic charm to them as with many Bluebird Toys products... Dunno what ever happened to those sets I had... I think the best Army Men were made by either Matchbox or Airfix in their 1.32 scale - I've never ever liked the 1.72 scale as they are...tiny to say the least...and the idea of painting such small figures, same with ZERO HOUR as they suggested on their packs is painstakingly ridiculous...well thats my view... ;D I used to have loads of old Army Men - mainly knock off packs my Mum or Dad bought that were as I found out in adult life looking on the net made from Arifix molds - I had the knock offs of the 8th Army Desert Rats in a dark brown, then green, then much like the original Airfix versions in tan...some of the figures had bad mold degradation as I've learnt...I also had the Germans in a darkish blue and then in grey, again they were knocked off from the Airfix German Infantry sets - mine used to come in a clear baggie with a header card with a nice image of which force it was, some sets would come with a molded sandbag in two pieces to create a 'v' shape for men to hide behind i.e. place a machine gunner, brown or silver barbed wire fences, a mound with a hole in the top for a flag with that countries flag on it - the German one more often than not had the then West German flag looking back on it lol...instead of a Swastika etc from the Nazi era...I did paint them as time went on, and varnished them - with VARNISH for wood....but I was a kid... Anyhow, now as an adult I did buy a few modern re-releases of Airfix 1.32 sets - Australian, German Mountain Troops and a few others, cannot remember but they are in my attic in storage now. Got them last year. I did also go through a phase of buying either Britains reissues of their Germans, Brits, Afrika Korps etc as well as buying custom sets based on those molds from a company called DSG an Argentinian firm, they do different colours based on the Afrika Korps and 8TH ARMY Brits Britains used to to as they have the original molds whilst the new company that owns Britains have the other molds - odd that. They do nice variants like German Panzer Troops or Mountain Troops based on the Afrika Korps mould or their Australian Army with new hats molded on out of the 8th Army British. Check Ebay and you'll see by typing in DSG....Theres also the chance to buy remakes of Airfix's German Paratroopers or Afrika Korps in grey or blue from another firm but I cannot remember the name of them but I got them off ebay too - well, the Paras and Korps ones I opted for are identical in colour and quality to the original Airfix ones..but I think Airfix got the molds back from that other firm as the've re-released them too since 2009... I did like Timpo Soldiers as a kid but they break easily, parts got lost or are dam chewable to me as a kid... ;D I think if they are unpainted, your a bit more carefree with them than when you paint them, same goes for the Britains painted ones, as an adult I don't like to damage them so I much prefer the unpainted Airfix types really.... Hell, saying all this has made me want to dig them out of storage and have a look at my stuff!

Is there anyone who had a favorite army man besides the bazooka guy? I think it is just natural that everyone's favorite is the bazooka guy. The only question was standing bazooka guy cooler than kneeling bazooka guy.

I loved army men as a kid and I had literally all different kinds. Some of my favorite more "unique" stuff was the Pilgrims vs. Natives lines. I had that detailed Nazi line too, the one's in your first picture (grey) with the hat's on. I believe it even came with a Hitler/commander figure. Great figures to have as the enemy haha. I had this pretty awesome mountain playset that was fairly sturdy and was electronic. It was yell out "Fire fire fire. (BOOOM)" and then something else. I had a few frogmen figures too with a mini sub.
The Zero Hour line was cool, but weren't those figures much smaller? I seem to remember having some but I'm not sure. This reminds me how much I loved Mega Force as a kid too. Absolutely incredibly fun line. I wish they would bring back that concept, it must be an evergreen toyline by now.

It's weird, there's no rhyme or reason to the few 'army men' and 'plastic dinos' I've kept over the years. I mean, I come across them everywhere but never pick 'em up, it's just a matter of what's trickled into my collection, usually from found or childhood items. I now hafta wonder why I've never stumbled across ninjas... A bucket o' Cowboys n' Indians, 1 big scale army man, Arco space robots, tiny scale Afghanistan dudes, Xenomorphs even, but no ninjas!! Deprived!! Come to think of it no fantasy theme 'army men' type figures at all (I would've gone gaga for them as a kid) Gimme a barbarian o'er a robot ennyday!True I've never seen Ninjas either (except for the picture below which I have just now seen) I remember when Cowboys & Indians came with Canoes

Definitely had that M60 gunner figure. I recently got a lot with some random crap and it came with some blue soldier/sailors and some civil war figures. Reminded me of when I was a kid, and I would prize certain figures, like pilgrims, or civil war figures, and I really did have a ton of fun with these toys. The "Army men bucket" is a timeless toy for kids.

For me now I love to find unique army men out in the wild at thrift stores. The ones Ive never seen before.. such as many in these pics... The army men at retail stores now suck, but older ones are amazing, and some of the figures molds are just plain cool figures to add to my collection
