Have to say I am sick of the sight of thes things. I think they are partially to blame for the decline in the toy market. Both in the UK and when I have visited the states the yard sales and markets are flooded with the things. I spend so much of my weekend hunts trawling through the crap.
I have even spoke to parents who say they would rather get a happy meal instaed of just buying an action figure. I don`t blame them, if they can kill 2 birds with 1 stone and its cheaper then why not.
Anyone else notice this? or am I going mad?

I'm with you, as much as I love the toys from my childhood, the fast food toys are the one thing I really feel I outgrew. They just seem so cheap, and yes, they pop up in every box of toys at a flea market or garage sale. The only fast food toys I have in my entire collection are the Super Powers Darkseid and & Batman Cup Holders from Burger King.

I have to agree there is a flood of them out there but some of them i have collected over the years for myself and for my 5 year old.
Some are not that bad and others are quite fun to collect. Plus as a parent myself it is cheaper getting those toys for my son than going to Target or Walmart and spending up to 3 or 4 times what i paid for a happy meal.
A plus was my son first got into Transformers through the happy meal toys and he could transform them but he has some difficulty with the ones sold in stores so it helps in that way with them being simpler versions of the regular lines.
Another positive is what Kyle does. He uses the Cobra Commanders to Army Build his Cobra forces. That way you get a bunch of figures at a lower price and get to fill out your collection.

I think the more aggravating part is the value that sellers try to attach to them.

Thanks for the pic Soundwave, I had none of my own! Anyone know where I can get an extra cup? Not a figure, but the white cups they come with.

All I know about fast food toys is that the Hamburgler consistently had the fastest pull back car.

I really dont like the fast food toys now, they are not made for children anymore, I was in Wendy's yesterday and got my son a mchappywhatever, it came with a freaking computer game. He is only 2 and just likes to smash the computer so it is pretty useless. The bag said ask for a "special toy" for under two, I asked and they had no idea what I was talking about. These toys entertain my son for about 15 seconds and then end up in the garbage. I have no problem spending money to get a quality toy for him or for my daughter as long as it is safe and fun. I really wish the fast food places would stop churning out this crap and give some good toys.

Most of the toys have no longevity. I like some of the older toys and made a few bucks in the mid 90`s selling them, but it just seems to have gotten out of control over here. If I go through a kids toy box at a bootsale they are now 80% happymeal stuff. The interesting thing is if im looking through a box of stuff that somebody had from 80`s/90`s there is probably 20% of the stuff.

Oh yeah I forgot-toys are for kids! I think some parents figure 'At least to toy will keep them quiet for 15 minutes.'

Remember "Mr. Men" that Arbys seemed to put out forever in the 80s? Now that was a fast food toy I could get with! So quality. So collectable. I used to have tons of them but have no idea where they all went.
But yeah, for the most part FF toys are very annoying these days. What's up with all the super-cheap super-lame LCD games? They have a novelty life of about 20 seconds.

I would like to add that die cast cars are quite painful if hunting through a box of stuff and its cold.

I picked up a few sets of the Shark Boy and Lava Girl figures at a garage sale recently. It is actually a very well made FF toy. You would swear it was an action figure sold in a store. Been passing on the Transformers Animated ones though, they look pretty terrible.
