I think I would have to go with 1984/85. Some of the coolest characters came out those years and I believe the line was at its peak. I do think that anything from 1987 and up kinda starts to loose focus on the line as this is where you get all the wild colors and the vehicles get more futuristic looking.

I'm not sure if I have a favorite per se, but whilst building my Excel checklist, I recall actually being rather impressed with the '90 line. Most of the non-gimmick releases that year were all v1's including Pathfinder, Bullhorn, Undertow, Rock & Range Vipers. The vehicles from that year were pretty good too.

My favorite would be the first series of figures(82?). Those were the only ones I actually had as a kid.

My favorite is 70's for GI JOE.
I'm fairly remembered to played with 1975 12" or 10"? Joe figure and a jeep in Army colors(like hunter).
Can ya find pictures of 70's Joe and stuff?
I would love to seeing them.

I think 84-85 were great years...I got out of Joe for a bit but jumped back in in 87, there were some good things that year too.A while back I got a tape with all of the old Joe commercials as well as the ones from the 60's & 70's for the 12" figures...It was great to set back & watch all of these toys being played with just like I did back in the day.

1985 was the apex of the line for both figures and vehicles.

1985-86 is my vote as well. 1985 was the first year I really appreciated joes and asked for Tomax and Xamot specifically for Christmas. I liked the figures before this but they all belonged to my friends' older brothers and I didn't have enough interest to have any of my own yet. I loved the color changing stuff of 1986 and to this day the color changing Dreadnoks are my favorites. B.A.T.S, another of my favorites came out that year. I actually found my childhood B.A.T.S. today at my parents house and was very excited as I thought he was gone for good. He is missing his hologram and two of his attachments and his pack but I remember being very careful not to lose his hand and sure enough, hes still got two hands.

I'm with 10incher on this one. I was with the line from the start and for me '84-'84 was ARAH at its zenith. So many iconic characters, so many iconic vehicles. And it still had its boot firmly rooted in semi-reality. '86 was really the last golden year of the original ARAH line for me. There were a few great figures in '87 & '88; Shockwave, Tunnelrat, but for the most part it became a neon nightmare.

I really liked 88 & 89, 88 was the year Action Force was renamed GI Joe here in the UK. Charbroil was always one of my favourite figures of all time(all versions of him) and all the Night Force that came out in 89 were awsome, especially Shockwave, Repeater and Charbroil also Night Viper from 89 was one of my favourite Cobras of all time.

1983-1989 were the best years. From a brand perspective, 1987-89 showed the line at the height of its selling power. Why? Look at how BIG some of the vehicles got at that time...true, we had the Flagg in 85/86 but by 87-89 we had the Terrordrome, Defiant Launch Complex, MCC, Night Raven, Condor, Mamba, we even got another enemy faction in the Iron Grenadiers, some of these things were so big and heavy even as an adult collector I was surprised by the size of my Mamba and Raven when I had them... Looking back, the new stuff, especially the new movie dross line is put to shame by the sheer weight of product Joe had back in its halcyon days...and then there were the new figures coming out year on year.

I remember the awesome 80s years as well but vagely because I was so young. But Just because of memories I have to say 92-94. Those were the years that although they had horrible neon colors, a buddy and me had a lot of battle corps, ninja force, DEA, Star Brigade etc. and would do huge battles in his back yard. Once he put his battle corps duke in a tunnel and filled it with water. The poor duke never saw the light of day again LOL

I'd agree with the member who said 83 - 89. You got the 82 guys with swivel arms plus all the new stuff put out through the 80's was really creative in many aspects. The early 90's had a few good ones too, but so many more classics in the 80's.
