i love this series! i have 2 of the frankenstein monsters loose. most of the figures look like crap, especially the dracula. but the card art is incredible, and i love the "where's waldo?" freddy and the quasimodo figures. you have the whole set.

I used to have them, then got tired and traded em off, or gave them to the kid... I believe thats the set.
But they are cool.

I have a dracula, and a dracula with a frankenstein head that's coloured in the appropriate dracula colours, it's really weird.

Wow, where'd you score all of these guys? I've been on the lookout since I first read about them over at the Weirdo Toys blog. They're awful in the best ways possible, and I concur--that art is some of the best I've seen on crappy toy packaging.
I'm still kicking myself for forgetting to bid on a Freddy that popped up while back on ebay...he ended up going for 99 cents. My bootleg Freddy collection has seemed that much more empty since then.

I mostly collect monster toys, so this sounds like a toy-line I'd probably be interested in. Unfortunately, though, the only photo of these (the one in the very first post) says "This photo is currently unavailable". Where can I find a pic of this line, so that I'll know what you guys are talking about?

Hi everyone, just joined up here after months in the shadows - just had to share something y'see. These Monster toys are amazing and all (I have the vampire and the mummy), but what about the MINIATURE versions?? Here: (the backs of the cards are blank, unfortunately) And here's my loose ones: These three below are ones that I've had for as long as I can remember: I'm in the UK, and these were originally bought in a discout hardware/household store in around... 1991? The others above, and the carded ones, were recently sourced for me by a Welsh friend of mine, who found them at a car boot sale (think of a giant-sized yard sale, or outdoor flea market). From what I've seen around the Internet, I think there's 12 different characters in the miniature versions, who knows?

i've seen the bottom 3 minis, and always suspected they were from the "Monster" series, so thanks for confirming it! the carded sets have made my mind officially blown. i've been looking for these for quite some time, but i suspect they may have been a UK only release.

thanks! i've seen the bottom 3 turn up several times in the collections of others, so maybe those 3 are easier to find? that rockstar with the skirt is sure an oddball, huh? his inclusion makes the whole line remind me of Socket Poppers.
i think it's pretty incredible that Sungold not only released 2 different sets as part of the "Monster" series, but that they used (mostly) different characters and even different card art. if the small ones were a UK only release, maybe they were made as a possible competition for MIMP Wrestlers.
now we just need a deluxe 12 inch Sungold Monster line to be discovered!

It's an interesting thought, but these things were out at least three years before Monster Wrestlers! A 12" line would be a wonderful thing... Others I've seen include a Phantom of the Opera type, and some sort of bio-hazard waster specialist (!).
Think this is possibly the 3rd (or even fourth) time I've put pictures of the bottom three onto the Internet, but I've known three other people who have them. Probably the most ambiguous eBay search term possible too, which is a bit of an annoyance. Still think they're great though!

Here we go. This isn't my image by the way - I got it off Acidonia over on the LittleRubberGuys forums. It could be his, or he may've got it from somewhere else, but here it is anyway: The three on the left are ones I don't have. So, assuming the only way to get these was in the twin packs, there should be at least twelve different ones. I have eight of them, there's three I don't own in this picture, so that means there's at least one more out there waiting to be identified!

i've known about this card variation for awhile now, but just saw this pic of the back. funny how the series name seems to be "Monster Vampire." i don't have any idea whether the Sungold or this Simba series came out first, but the Simba series wins in the naming department! those are some of the best names i've heard for figures. Man, these small versions are awesome. Love Toxie Jr. and the blue pirate!
Does anybody know where to find a pic of the "Monster Wrestlers" mentioned? That sounds like a dream combo.

Thanks a lot muck! I'm so naive I was picturing like a werewolf with a singlet. I didn't think it was these guys.

I was picking these up at Dollar Stores in the early/mid 90's. Not the small ones, but the regular, articulated figures. These are still among my favorite toys of all time.

Got ANOTHER miniature Sungold Monster in a mixed lot off eBay this week, one that I haven't seen before: So that must be the elusive "12th Monster", right? But there could always be more!

Frankenstein's Monster is the only one I have come across, to be honest I thought it was a crappy Toxic Avenger rip-off or something... Has more appeal, naturally, now that it's shown up here...

I just need three more to finish the set now - considering it's taken me 21 years to get this far, it should be easy enough

I just need the zombie, the guy with the tubes all over him and the vampire. Then I can rest for the remainder of my days.
