What is it with people these days having large collections of robots from Robo Force to Gobots? They seem to be more popular than GI Joe

I don't collect either of those, but some of us just like robots. check us out: robotjapan.proboards12.com/ Gobots are die-cast (bonus!!!) and have their origins in Japanese robo-culture, so that's enough for some collectors. Robo Force? Even a s a kid I wasn't too into those (had the lead villain and the blue hero bot). They looked 'odd' and the 'hugging action' was lame-o.

i am a robot head, and always have been,(AND I INCLUDE CYBORGS IN THAT)i just like robots.the idea of a totally or partially mechanical man just fires up my imagination- my favorites are the wind up and battery op classic robot toys ,the box style mechanical men of yesteryear.some of the art deco designs are so beautiful, you can be much more creative with a robot than you can with a human figure, there is nothing like a shelf of classic 50s tinplate styled toy robots.
robo force were a bit kooky but they were very imaginative in that they broke away from robot stereotypes in a couple of ways, 1 they were not humanoid, and 2 they werent from a movie

I do collect robots, but don't usually actively seek them out on Ebay. Just picked up these guys while on vacation last week. Got the Tryder G7, Battle Fever and green Grandizer from an antique mall for $30 (anyone know the name of the small green guy btw?) Picked up the large Voltron I for $20 outside of a collectibles store from a guy who was trying to sell it and a bunch of Transformers inside. Got the small Voltron I inside the store free with another purchase. Also, does anyone know what the weapons on the top left corner of the pic goto (don't think the tiny red plane is a robot accessory though)?

Nice score, I really like tha Battle Fever. The black missile launcher next to the axe is from Tryder G7, it's missing the two red missiles. The red little bird looks like from Raydeen.
