It has been changed to 30 legitimate posts to see any of the sales or ID threads. Chad is looking onto whether they can be visible to read, but not post in them, before 30 posts.

Thanks for listening to concerns on here. It's a good reason to keep coming back to the site, particularly the forums. I think this is one of the more informative websites out there - including both the archives and the forums.

In case anyone is wondering, Chad has not been on this week, so I do not have an update on the point in question.
Thanks Boog, we try to keep everyone happy, but it is difficult to do.

Chad sent me a PM indicating that he is still looking into whether members with less than 30 posts will be able to see, but not post in the sales/ID threads. He has not found a way in the Proboards system to allow that to happen. He will continue to research it.

Hello everyone! I have to say one of the reasons I left the board awhile back...1 or 2 years ago... ...was because there were about 10 people who posted regularly and they also seemed to only post to each others posts. Also these same fellows seemed to be “hoarders” not traders...first to grab up everything and anything whenever something was posted for sale. There were little to no new members and those that did come seemed to not contribute at all…and defiantly alot of “takers” who posted to get people to identify items so that they could sell them on ebay. I have recently been looking in and found that there are several new members and that there seems to be a genuine effort to post and talk about the hobby alot more. There is also alot of action with people posting items for trade and so on and somehow I can see a lot of people getting a shot at it. Anyways I just wanted to say that any effort to get people to post more in any way is a very good thing. Maybe the mods and the admin could offer tidbits to those who post often and contribute alot...like a weekly bi-weekly contest. Also those who lurk…I have no sympathy for them, block them out completely from the for sale/trade sections...and aalso anyone who does not post once a day or something...reward those who contribute...lock the lurkers out in the cold.

I found this website though my boyfriend and saw he shopped and traded on here a lot. I was excited to start doing that as well until I found out about the 50 or more posts limit...-_- What a bummer! But I suppose it's fair.

It has been reduced to 30 posts, so you are closer than you think.

First off, I like what you guys have going on over here as a website. I belong to some other sites such as The Hisstank, YoJoe, and the Terror Drome. This is my first day here and I hate to start it on a negative note. It's a forum, without opinions and debates, forums are useless. So here I go. I've spent a while today going through the different categories and I think everything is cool. I did find this site on google, I was looking for a place to trade Joes. I have a combined total of over 20 pages of positive feedback on those sites, never a bad transaction. Unfortunately, I don't post a lot, because I believe that there are many out there that have far more expertise than I do on most subjects. Also, I only follow one line, which is obviously G.I.Joe. So I can't imagine possibly coming up with 30 posts here, in a forum that covers all lines, within any reasonable amount of time.
I will say this though, i'm an info addict. I gather and disperse information about collectibles like crazy, but it's the marketplaces that keep me active. I will stay here. I will post occaisonally. But you are really missing out on a lot I have to offer. I only collect G.I.Joe, but I get hauls all the time. I just hooked up a dude at another site with 3 MASK vehicles complete, two with boxes for less than $30.00.
Some people think I'm nuts when it comes to trading, because they usually get far more than I ask to receive. It's just because I like hooking people up. I believe it's Karma and most people try to help me out. I can't do that here, at least not for a long time. Maybe i'll see you guys in the marketplace someday, but I'm pretty sure it wont be soon.
P.S. 29 more posts to go!

"It's a forum, without opinions and debates, forums are useless."
I am confused by this sentence as you seem to indicate you like this forum otherwise. We do not mind a civil debate here and as long as they do not get heated, conflicting opinions are welcome.
You are alread 1/6 of the way to 30 posts in one day and there are likely many threads in the GI Joe section that you can comment on without spamming to get to that point. It may take you a week or so to get there, but you will. You will find many ID threads with figures and weapons just waiting for an ID.

I think he was just saying his topic may be perceived as controversial, hence his statement that he hates to start it on a negative note, but forums are boring without controversy, so he decided to post them inspite of their controversial nature. Now that I made the post I may as well provide my two cents on the topic. I think that members should be free to ID toys for other members regardless of how many posts they have made. In my opinion, helping people is a good thing. If some members do not want to provide such IDs then they do not have to do so. I have just a bit of experience with toys , and initially I found it difficult to contribute to the site. The 30 post minimum encourages junk content. It is important to have threads that average users can contribute to. If such a user cannot ID a figure, they may also lack the knowledge to contribute to other threads as well. I am not exactly sure what the topics of such threads should be. I suppose personal introduction threads work. Ones with photos of collections are also good. Does anyone else have any thoughts on good threads for beginners?

We do not mind a civil debate here and as long as they do not get heated, conflicting opinions are welcome. Yeah, I meant no harm there. I was just simply stating that most forums die if there are no debates to be had. I just hated to start my first post with an opinion that might be seen as a negative look on the "whole" of this website. I believe the "whole" of this website is positive and I can see it as a place that I would enjoy spending some time in. And you're right, I'm on my way, closer today than I was when I originally posted in this thread!

Idzbowl, I see nothing wrong with what you posted. No harm was intented or interpreted to be that way. We are a little different here. If something thinks something is wrong, we listen and decide if it is a good course of action to take unlike many other forums where there is an iron Dictator and nothing can deviate. People thought 50 posts to get to the Sales/Wants and ID's were to much and after giving it consideration, it was reduced to 30 posts. Fighting in threads and Spam have been the focus on which we felt improvement was needed. We are still working on the latter. Debates are fine, arguments are not and we feel that we have eliminated these for the benefit of everyone.
The problem is that the arguments get heated, the name calling begins and everything breaks down from there. At least that is what happened here (and I am sure most every forum) in the past. We simply got tired of the "No, you're stupid and I'm right no matter what" mentality. One should be able to make their point and move on from both sides. One is never likely to change anyone's mind from arguing on a Forum.
If you have a conflicting opinion to someone else's we feel that as long as the points of the argument are what the focus is, all is good. Someone can make a point and there be a rebuttal without an argument. When they get out of hand the Warning Bars fly, posts get deleted and threads locked. We like that people think they can come here, express their opinion and not get their head handed to them for it. Cooperation, exchanges of information/items and displays of collections are where we intend for this to go.
And yes, you are inching closer to the 30 post mark.

I am still new here and I also felt kind of upset I couldn't see what people had to offer on this site, because of being under 30 posts at the time. It took me about a month to get to 30 posts and tried to keep it informational or at least had valid questions.
With being a member for 2 months now, I have noticed that this is the only forum I have ever joined that has no fighting or negative comments about one another. It is nice to be part of a community that takes care of one another and no negative people. The moderators have apparently been doing an awesome job controlling trolls!
One thing I notice on this thread that people here dislike "hoarders". I have to say I myself am one as I only buy and don't trade. I just hope people don't dislike me because of this. I already made my 1st purchase through this site and it went smoothly. I just hope I can continue to buy from you guys on this site now knowing my "hoarder" status.

Thanks for the compliments TT. I am glad to see you see the basis for what we have installed regarding the posts and stuck through it. I personally think the benefits of being an active member are worth the wait.
One of the reasons I wanted to become a Mod was to wipe out the fighting that was going on here. I think the rules the Admin and I have devised against it and some of the other problem areas have worked well - again my opinion.
I do not think you will have many problems with the members here. I do not think you are the type of "hoarder" they are talking about. I believe they are referring to the scalper type who scoop up everything they can find with the intent on reselling at a much higher profit than a normal seller would expect. One expects to pay a price to find the items that are here, just not an exhorbitant one. knowing that the items you buy are going to a "collector" that will take good care of them should appease the group.
