Yes, DFC made the Dragonryders of the Styx sets, and that is definitely from that or one of their concurrent set releases - but I thought it had a face as well. Some variant, I suppose - it would be very hard to uniformly melt a face off. Nice find!

I had some of these when I was a kid. Came in a bag with solid plastic figures (like the old green army men) . They were the exact same color & had no face. If I remember right these were sold at Dollar General typ stores.

they are the demons from the Dragonriders of the Styx miniature playsets made by DFC. they were reused many times for other DFC fantasy themed playsets.

Here is another type of Toyco figure set. A recent acquisition...the Tower of Terror playset...another of these DFC knock offs. As far as I can tell, the original owner must have taken really good care of this set! The only thing that had some wear and tear was the castle (understandably)...and one archer's bowstring, okay...so two things. Admittedly, I know very little about it! I've seen the DFC stuff plenty...the Toyco knock offs, I've only seen as Fantasy Favorites in either the classic baggie or a small box. I'm not sure how this playset came packaged...or if others exist. Here is a spread of all the figure types it comes with. I'm not sure if mine is officially complete, I guess. Yo ho! Official Toyco assembly instructions ahoy! Wow! I always wanted a castle-shaped Happy Meal box for my little plastic men to fight on! Here is an official Toyco order form for other stuff besides the fantasy-themed stuff. Wow...you could actually order individual pieces back then?! Cool! I wonder if I can still use it? I'm sure some old guy is sitting in some semi-abandoned Toyco warehouse waiting for someone to order these. We know what the figures are called...but the black human barbarian dudes aren't accounted for. The person I got this from said they might have been cavemen from the prehistoric set, but I beg to differ...cavemen...using morning star weapons? C'mon! The ogres from Toyco and the ones from Fleetwood are almost dead on! I kinda wonder if Fleetwood bootlegged 'em or something. The unidentified barbarians also look like the barbarian dudes from the Fleetwood sets...only smaller. ......or the titan mold...maybe..... Even the dragons get in on it! Check out the Toyco dragon next to the Fleetwood one. Sorry, didn't have a loose Fleetwood one unburied at the time, but you can see the sculptural similarities. You kinda wonder if the same sculptor worked on both...or one copied the style of another...or something like that. You get the picture. Now that I finally got one of these...I'm seriously thinking about pursuing the official DFC playsets! Aw, Hell...what did I get myself into?!

Wow cool! I see there is alot of different guys/colors in the set that differ from the bags. I love the DFC guys I have and I am always trying to track down color variations...but these tyco's might be a bit hard to do as I have never seen them other than the bag I scored of you (thanks again) and this post.

Those are the DFC/Multi-Toy ones, I believe...hmmm...Fantasy Villains? Speak of the devil...here are the Fantasy Heroes! These are not Toyco, by the way...but Multi-Toy product...which is owned (or whatever) by DFC, correct? Eh, anyway...uses a portion of the Dragonriders of the Styx playset art for the cardboard header too.

I had a few of these sets growing up.
There was one set Dungeons of Castelon that was also later (?) released in a different box as Demons of Castelon (I think). The Dungeons one had the snakemen with faces, and the Demons one had the faceless versions. I remember being disappointed they were the same set and that the snakemen were faceless.
There were faceless Orcs as well. Not smooth round heads like the snake men, but like their faces were cut off. They sucked, I think they must've come in the 20 piece Fantasy Villains packs.
I wondered why the Titans were in the Heroes bags, when they are shown to be villains on the Dragons Riders artwork. Variety I suppose, there were more styles of evil figurines than good.
The contents sometimes didn't match the photos on the box. The Fires of Shandarr set included a dragon and 6 demons the same color as the Flamemen (Lava Men). The box photo shows red ogres instead of the actual flamemen. The Dungeons of Castelon box showed brown snakemen, but mine only came with yellow.
Some versions of the wizards and titans have the ends of their wands and maces replaced with round balls. I've seen knights where the axes are pitch forks and the straight swords are curved. Again, I assume they are later releases. Quality dropped as the molds were used over and over, probably had to retool parts of them?
In the early 90's I recall seeing some of the Fantasy Heroes/Villains sets in bright colors at a Toys R Us. Sadly, I didn't buy any of them.
The knight molds were later used for party favor sets. I remember seeing them in gray or black.
That Toyco set is interesting. I vaguely recall a really big fantasy playset in some old 80's department store X-man catalog. Not sure what it was. Maybe Toyco. I know it wasn't DFC.

Those are the DFC Figures I have! the bagged ones from TRU. I tried for years to find info on these guys and I found my answers on this forum a few months back. The picture of the Fantasy Villains bag Joeybones posted im pretty sure is the one I got from TRU almost 2 decades ago. I absolutely love them. Sadly some of them are broken, but some of my gargoyles/demons are intact as are two faceless naga and my wizards! In the last year Ive bought 2 DFC figures from members in the forum. An ogre and a Red Demon with a sword and mace.

My DFC Figures These molds are definately DFC because they say D.F.C. 1981 on the demons, but I know they were made later as I got them in the early 90s. They also say P.R.C. on them as well. My favorites were the Wizards. with some faceless Naga Black Gargoyles/Demons.. I always saw them as Gargoyles Red and green Black gargoyles with axes-had a ton of these at one time The two ones I got recently, one from Kylefromdirtnapp This guy I have no Idea where he came from but has been with my DFC figures forever. The mold is different and I know he didnt come with them. NON DFC knights

That playset is stellar.
Why is that set of fantasy figures not being reproduced now? I cant find them anywhere.

I really do wish some company would put out something with a little more "oomph" these days. Vintage really is best when it comes to this kinda stuff. You'd think with the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings stuff coming back, someone would jump on making a set of cool fantasy figures that isn't just boring human warriors. Good Lord! Where is the monster-love?!?!

I cant believe my luck! Went to the thrift store for a quick look before I had to pick up my daughter from school, and found a baggie with DFC figures! A couple of cowboys caught my eye then I saw the DFC figures inside.. and for an incredible 95 cents! A little discolorization but otherwise great condition! made me a happy camper for sure..and the other figures that came in the bag (cowboys, galazy lazer team, MPC army men) were a bonus!

apologies for the shitty photo, but i thought i should post this. i don't think most people have seen this, and i had only seen it once in a photo before i found it in the wild. it's a mini demon sled, similar to the ones for the 3 3/4" Dragonriders of the Styx figures, but with a whole new design. there is a spot on the back for the small figurres to stand.
