Anybody catching the latest stuff on retail? I've recently bought the Rodimus and Cyclonus two pack called Reveal the Shield and both figures look so awesome in both vehicle and robot modes. I also came upon the Generations Scourge which is just as cool. I sure hope they make a Galvatron in the fashion they have made these figures.

Have seen bits and pieces of the new show, though have been PVRing episodes to eventually watch.
Haven't seen any of the new figures in stores yet though.

So far these set of figures are moving quick out of the stores, even the Cyclonus vs Rodimus two packs sell well at every store I go to.

Some Targets are putting their Generations figures on clearance along with the other Transformers figures especially the ones from the last movie. I'm guessing we will be seeing the new movie figures shortly but I personally have never bought a movie figure cause of the hideous looks and lack of making a decent looking robot formation.

Am I the only one having trouble finding the Universe Thundercracker or is it just a hard find? I want one badly to finish my collection of seekers.

You are NOT the only one! Along with some other figs, I NEVER saw one in a store. Luckily, I have a good friend who finally got me one (and some other stuff that never did show up here).

Eh, I wouldn't fret...aside from K-Mart, most major chains still seem to be keeping the Generations line...I have faith they'll trickle out slooowly! The last wave of the Reveal The Shield stuff is another story! Wreck-Gar, Perceptor, Windcharger, Lugnut, Grapple (oop, sorry...Grappel)...where are you?! I lost hope on those...tired of seeing that one Deep Dive at Ross's...so gave up and paid some scalpers...oh, well.

You know I saw that wave only once and passed it up, what a big mistake that was on my part. I did find a Warpath recently and but Thundercracker still eludes me but I'll have some more patience before I shell out a few bucks extra to get it on Ebay. I hope that the new movie doesn't put another year or two hold on the Generations line.

Don't worry; Hasbro has slowly been trickling out classics/generations releases even as the movies come out, mixing them in with whatever they name the current toyline (Like jazz and tracks in the RTS line). They've even listened to the fans on occassion; like releasing the 2-pack with Hot Rod and Cyclonus(which are repaints).

I love that they did the movie figures but I felt that the Galvatron could have been done better. They should have stayed with the cannon formation instead of a tank and in his robot mode the figure is very flimsy compared to other Generation figures. I have yet to open a Scourge but the Cyclonus figure is a work of art to his character.

Last weekend I found the 2-inch scale Transformers Legends aka Reveal the Shield figures at Five Below for only 3 bucks each. It's so cool seeing the old Megatron in is gun variant which I'm surprised that they would do that in this day and age. I commend them on doing that and being true to the G1 generation. Does anybody know how many figures they made for the 2-inch line?

Been catching the old Reveal the Shield figures around Five Below and TJMaxx lately. One of my cool finds was a Windcharger about 3 3/4 size that looks so much like his G1 original. Anyone know which are the HTF figures in this line?

Anyone know which are the HTF figures in this line? Argh! I have not been able to find ANYTHING from RTS in the stores by me (central NJ) except for "Battle in space", which were in piles at walmart. I was also able to pick up a Fallback from HasbroToyShop on sale a few months ago, but everything else was sold out. If you happen to come across any more, i would be happy to buy/trade for just about any RTS figure, especially the G1 characters! ;D

Today I found at TRU the new Generations line of the Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime but only him I guess the others sold out? I passed on him hoping I will find the others soon enough at Target or Wal-Mart for less than 14.99 TRU had on him.

Does anyone remember what the TRU 3-pack of Rage over Cybertron was priced at when it was in retail? I'm currently looking to get it but I don't remember what they sold for at Toysrus. I mainly want this set for the variant Megatron.

Been seeing a lot of the Generations stuff with asian writing on the packages at TRU and I picked up some sort of Megatron variant green tank with a Samurai type armor to him. Anybody know what this part of the line is called with asian writing on it or is just foreign boxes or cards?

After a brief hiatus, the Generations subset of Transformers came back. Right now, the line is focusing a lot on characters from the Fall of Cybertron video game...although in the past it has mainly focused on "classic" characters and not stuff from movies, cartoons, or games. Well, it's all about the games right now. Initially, I had no interest in the new Generations waves. First wave had no real appeal, save for Shockwave. I was mainly interested in the classical TFs, but he (Shockwave) never really had a true Earthly vehicle or machine mode. Aside form him, I had planned on ignoring the rest of the line. Besides, when I got Shockwave, I noticed the horrible fact that Transformers had finally reached an all-time low by giving us an all-time high in prices! UGH!!! Now, I had kind of a falling out with Transformers myself...no real reason for explanations...it just happened. I actually sold off a lot of my TFs. Aside from my "plain animal" Beast Wars, I decided to keep only classical Transformers characters and a few odds and ends I fancied...mainly stuff from the Classics/Generations lines. I knew about the Bruticus combiner coming out...but, like I said, I was ignoring them since they had Cybertronian alternate modes and not the classical Earthly vehicle modes I was going for. Well...*sigh*...it's like this: odds are, we ain't getting non-Cybertronian modes of these characters anytime soon. Hasbro makes some odd and boneheaded decisions, but I have a feeling this is it for the Combaticon team. Besides...alotta TFs have alternate modes with what you might call futuristic or sci-fi aesthetics. Eh...so I figured if I was able to catch the whole set at once, I'd bite. Besides...those 'bot modes are cool! And when are you gonna get the Combaticons in deluxe size again?! On with the show. First up, the Combaticon leader, Onslaught. I never had the original set, but knew of it. I had the modern repaint they used in the Robots In Disguise series called Ruination, which was the same thing, though...mold-wise. The old Onslaught was way bigger than the rest of the gang. He was a carrier truck with big cannons. The new one is a Cybertronian...uh, er...space truck? Eh, probably the weakest vehicle mode. No real coherent form. The guns could easily be mistaken for a space age roof rack. It almost looks like you could add a trailer 'round back...almost. Transformation ain't that hard. His 'bot mode is pretty sweet. My only complaint are the arms. The shoulder alignment is odd and his arms are just too far down...making cool, dramatic posing tough. His lower arms and elbow are also kinda thin-feeling. I've noticed many of the newer Transformers seem to be made a lot cheaper these days. I noticed this heavily during the Animated days. Some parts feel like they wanna break. Anyway, the arms are weak points. Go easy when moving his elbows. They are kinda tight, but hopefully as you break 'em in, they won't be so bad. Next up is Vortex. He's a helicopter...a Cybertronian helicopter to be exact. Not bad. Copters are always fun since you can spin the blades to make 'em "fly" during play. Thankfully, they spin nice and easy! He's kinda compact unless you add on his gun blades...that visually inflates him a bit in his vehicle mode. His robot mode is neat...if you like the more colorful types. If the Combaticons were doing a Village People thing...this guy would be the Indian for sure. Like Onslaught, Vortex's weakest spots are his arms. Aside form those blades getting in the way sometimes (since they are permanently attached), the black mid-sections of his arms are thin and oddly shaped, so be careful if you like to play rough. That "skirt" of his does flip up, but it's rough...so you may get annoyed by it until it (hopefully) loosens up. The head is actually placed weird. You have to tilt the back part up in 'bot mode to align it atop his shoulders...otherwise he's always looking up awkwardly. Oh, and his head will pop off very easily. I like his look, though...not trying to seem pessimistic, here! The weapons are the best out of all five Combaticons...gun blades! So you can use 'em as guns or swords. Nice. Now, Swindle...the vintage version was a jeep. This new, Cybertronian one is a weird armored car. Both are this odd, mostly yellow. I never had the old one, but Swindle always stuck out in my mind...maybe since he was a yellow jeep? Maybe because he had such a cool, evil-sounding name? Not bad for some oddball futuristic jeep. Actually kinda cool-looking except the classic Swindle had a small gun PLUS a big cannon (they could attach together as well). Two warnings. His hands will rub on the back wheels if you don't get 'em in place correctly for vehicle mode. Also, when you lift his hood to transform him, go easy, since the tabs are very tough to unlatch form the back part of the vehicle. Swindle is just one of those characters I don't really remember from the vintage 'toon, but in my adult geekiness, came to be mystified by. I just like him for some reason. I don't bother reading any comics...tired to, but they keep rebooting and redoing and all that jazz...*pfah*! Baloney! I just like the toys and any character mystique they might give off for my imagination to take flight on. His robot mode is well done. No major complaints. Decent articulation...weapon ain't half bad (although I'd have loved him to also have a cannon), and he looks great. True, the hood/chest does pop up a bit if you play hard with him, but other than that, he's great. I always thought it odd that they stuck a space shuttle in with a team of robots that all turned into military vehicles. At any rate...Blast Off is a space shuttle...although he shoulda been a jet in my opinion. Are space shuttles military? Or rather...can they be? They really spiced up Blast Off's alternate mode. He used to be a little pointed tube with a few fins and guns. Now, he's a bad-ass evil space ship with big ol' evil-looking dynamo thingies and eerie yellow highlights. So evil! I remember seeing pics of an old collector club or con' exclusive of Astrotrain. They repainted and retooled Armada's Jetfire into an evil Decepticon space ship. The new Blast Off reminds me of that figure. No complaints about this guy's vehicle mode. True, it lacks moving parts...but who cares? Maybe some people, I guess. That 'bot mode...so...EVIL!!! Quite possibly my favorite one of this set. Just look at him. Blast Off looks like he's ready to do bad things. No problems at all with the transformation. Aside form the shoulders being a tad wonky form all the joints, the articulation is sound. No flapping bits or pop-out pieces to hinder your play time. Plus, those guns...you can attach 'em to his forearms or they can be held as traditional pistols. Last but not least, our boy Brawl. For a tank, he's kinda small and untough, you know? Very sleek and compact vehicle mode. He doesn't have wheels like Onslaught or Swindle, so I guess he's a hovertank (I haven't played the game to see). His 'bot mode has an insectoid feel to it...kinda the way the version from the Cybertron series felt. All in all, not bad. The only thing I hate is the fact that he doesn't stand up well...his feet are a bit floppy, so his center of balance is off. The twin cannons can also pivot over his head, unlike the older versions of Brawl. This is why deluxe size is best for these 'bots! The instructions tell you to leave the back flap of the tank down to flop around like a set of coattails, but you can flip 'em up under the cannon part to an extent to get 'em outta they way for play. Onto the combined form: BRUTICUS! Now, the vintage combiners or gestalts were kinda blocky and inarticulate. They kinda just stood there. You could swing the arms, but that was it. Seems that ever since Beast Wars, combiner teams have gotten more complex. Yeah, some are or were horrible...they'd technically have articulation, but they tended to fall apart due to the intertwining of smaller parts as opposed to just piecing blocky parts end to end. So I guess you can never get a perfect combiner Transformer. I just like that modern ones have great individual "bot modes as opposed to the dull ones of the olden days. The fact that they combine is just a plus...you can play with 'em...but be ready for tears of frustration! Yep...even when building 'em. Here's ol' Bructicus himself, combined and next to an average height deluxe class Transformer. About what you'd expect if you have had your share of combiner teams. Looks great, ideally, but will never go together perfectly and will fall apart if you play too rough. What's nice is that aside form the weapons, all robot parts are self-contained. Vintage combiners came with separate heads, feet, hands and other pieces to finish off the bigger bot after you combined the smaller ones. Here is his combined weapon...a B.F.G.! Actually, kinda rickety-looking. Brawl's small gun tends to fall right off on my piece. Annoying as all Hell. Aside form that oddity, it's alright for a goofy amalgamated gestalt weapon. Finally, here is posed shot: Granted, many poses WILL require support. Also granted...pieces will slide outta place as you move and play with him, but that kinda comes with the territory. No such thing as the "perfect combiner" when it comes to Transformers...at least not yet. There is also a con' version as well as a G2 colors box set. Hasbro also plans to recolor and retool this set as an Autobot gestalt team! Not sure if I'm gonna splurge for those other version, though.

Does he fall over easily?

Depending on how you pose him, yes, he MAY fall over.
I actually don't mind the odd, long arms since it gives him a more brutish appearance. Hence the name!
You can actually switch the limbs around like on the old combiners...it just doesn't say so in the instructions...officially. I think they do that so Ruination (the upcoming Autobot Wreckers combiner) will look more different.

Since I wasn't following Transformers heavily for a time, a few slipped under my radar. I'm speaking of the odd Asian packing ones for the Generations line. They also got released at Toys R Us. I mainly dig the classical-looking TFs, so there were just a few I had to get. In the deluxe class, they made four...I skipped Springer since I had the Tomahawk figure he was based off of, and he sucked. I also skipped Cliffjumper since he was basically a Prime series repaint and I felt he didn't look classical enough. Here's Swerve. He's a red truck. He's a retool and repaint of Kup who got a larger scale release a few years back. I liked the mold, so this one was a getter for me. I'm sure that much tint on the windows is illegal. I'd expect that kinda crap from a Decepticon...pffft...oh, Swerve! Other than the dead giveaway of a giant Autobot insignia on his roof, he's a solid little semi-olde timey truck. I always thought it sucked that the toys didn't look as nice and idealized as they did in the 'toon. I like how the modern TFs at least try to give the figures better robot aesthetics after the transformation while also giving them decent articulation. I never thought of Swerve as one of the most memorable TFs, but I like the looks of this guy! He looks very much like a soldier...rough and tough. Oh, and in truck mode you can also mount his rifle on the roof...otherwise in hooks underneath. Crap, I forgot a photo. The only other deluxe one I cared about was Wheelie...yes, Wheelie. He's pretty much the Jar Jar Binks of the Transformers universe. If you don't know who Jar Jar is, then good. Don't look him up! In the old animated movie and series, he was kind of a juvenile type of TF that spoke in rhyme and used a slingshot as opposed to the usual gun most 'bots used. He also liked kissing Grimlock. At any rate, he was kind of like a savage orphan, stranded on a world of robotic monsters and such. The old toy was a "futuristic" little car. His 'bot mode was a terrible thing with a horrible look and a Happy Meal toy level transformation. He got a Legends class toy a few years ago, but never a true modern upgrade...'til NOW! He uses the same mold as Generations Jazz. He's no longer a semi-conical space buggy, but a real-looking sports car! I really love that color scheme. My crappy camera skills don't do him justice. Just a yummy color pallet. Like candy! My only gripe is that you can see all that robo-junk in the windows...but who really cares THAT much, eh? Now, some fans will probably gripe about the fact that Hasbro used this body to make Wheelie. Some say he should be more...diminutive. I say, go soak your head...he looks great! Hell, I wanna take the character more seriously already. He definitely has become more "adult-looking". He still has that tasty color scheme and even his trademark slingshot! Wheelie still retains Jazz's speakers. Perfect to deploy for some block-rockin' beats...or 80s break dancing. Refer back to the animated Transformers motion picture for details. You can also reposition the slingshot to be used as a pistol...if you prefer a more manly weapon...*ahem". PEW-PEW-PEW!!!

Found a Fall Of Cyberton Grimlock at the retail price of 22.99 and found the robot mode to look pretty good but in T-Rex mode it is CRAPtastic. Too bad they couldn't put more into the dino mode to make this figure pretty sweet but the more I see of these new Transformers from Hasbro they are going the CHEAP way and are making everything plastic as possible and on the light side at that. Transformers quality has really dropped off the past year if you ask me.

I agree with you on how he looks in T-Rex mode, he just seems to thin and pretty cheap. Speaking of FoC figures though, I highly recommend Soundwave as he has a much more "stronger" feel to him for lack of a better term. I think that some of the figures sadly get the shaft on their moldings while others don't.

If a Transformer doesn't have a good robot mode then I'm not likely to buy it, but they look ok.

Deep down inside, I really want to cut back on "bigger" purchases...both literally and monetarily. However, I had dreamed of a modern update of the Omega Supreme character since we started getting the Classics and Generations stuff. I had the Transformers: Energon version of Omega Supreme and the repaint, Omega Sentinel. Both were really cool, but when I sold of my Unicron trilogy collection, they just had to go...but I had (correctly) hypothesized that Hasbro would one day reuse the mold to make a classic colors Omega Supreme. A few years later and BINGO! Sadly, it's an exclusive. It's also an online exclusive. So, you know it's not only gonna be pricey, but you know the shipping is gonna up the price. Dang. Had to have it, though. There's the fancy pants box it comes in. See, for some oddball reason I chose not to care about, they made up some "Year of the Snake" schtick and slapped a repainted and retooled Omega Supreme in this lovely box. So pretty! I'm almost tempted to keep it, but it's such a space waster. My horrible photography skills do not do it justice. It's really nice...even has a plastic handle. It makes me just wanna go out to a Chinese restaurant. I mean, daaamn, they may as well have put those little red tassles on the corners. You open the velcro door flap to see the figure. The back shows the other Year of the Snake figure, a repaint of Energon Optimus Prime...who was often criticized for being too much like a Power Rangers Megazord than a Transformer. I didn't think he was that bad as a play thing, but his truck mode and basic 'bot mode were kinda sucky from an aesthetics standpoint. Eh...I didn't bother with Prime. He does combine with Omega Supreme, but he basically just goes inside his chest to use Omega's body like armor and his vehicle limbs latch onto Omega's limbs as extra weaponry (sorta). You'll notice on the package, they used the old Energon art, but just recolored it. Hasbro actually retooled the figure. Omega Supreme's head and lower right arm were replaced to give him a more classical feel. I never had the old, vintage version, but I hear this newer one's bigger. I'm not a huge nut when it comes to strict storyline continuity with Transformers. I just enjoy the generic idea of the characters. Omega Supreme was on of the first "bigger" Transformers and his character was supposed to be the last line of defense for Cybertron. The old one was a giant robot that became sort of a city with a rocket and tank that hooked onto it. The new one uses the Energon mold, so it still becomes a giant set of space age vehicles. Here's the new head sculpt. I actually think the old toy from the 80s didn't have a face...correct? They gave him that in the comics and 'toon if I'm not mistaken. At any rate, this is meant to basically look like what can be considered his "classic" robot head. I kind of miss the Energon head. Why? It came off and Transformed into a smaller Mini-con a la Headmasters. It was a pretty cool mini 'bot too. Bummer. The new head ain't bad. It doesn't come off this time around...unless you break it, I guess. Man, it kinda looks like Omega Supreme is wearing a urine-filled reverse scuba mask, doesn't it. Ew...that's gross! EWWW! I'm gross!!! Anyway...... Here's the other newly tooled part, his right arm: More or less the same idea as the vintage one...a big, four-pronged claw arm. Bitchin'! No action gimmick, but the fingers are articulated and the wrist does spin. This retool really makes the figure. I'm glad they took out the old reaching claw grabber. Here's the new Omega Supreme next to the new Bruticus, fully combined. Big, huh? Yep. By the by, a giant Metroplex is supposed to be coming out which is gonna dwarf this guy...so watch out wallet! I still remember how to transform this figure. I didn't need the instructions...he's easy, despite the prescribed difficulty level Hasbro put on the toy. The instructions are as pretty and as special as the box. Basically, you split the 'bot apart and rearrange the limbs to make him into a set of vaguely Earthen, yet fantasy Cybertronian vehicles. First half looks like a battleship. Has spinning turrets and firing missiles. 'Nuff said. Second half becomes some kinda crane vehicle of sorts. Note it still has the opening cockpit for the Mini-con head to sit in. Man, I wish they'd have included him as a alternate noggin...I miss that guy! Oh, speaking of Mini-cons...you can still attach them to various pegs on Omega Supreme's form. Now, aside from the armor mode I mentioned earlier, there are alternate "battlestation" modes for the vehicle halves. Basically, they are just the robot halves awkwardly positioned to be used by smaller Transformers as weapons or tools...eh, look at the box back. Actually, I didn't even need to bother with all these photos! All the modes were on the back of the box! Eh...where's the fun in that? Anyway, the combined "super train" mode: Just jam the construction vehicle into the back of the battleship part and viola! Instant Cybertronian train. I could have made so many dirty jokes about sticking tips into crevices, but I really need to clean up my act. "Sorry"...or..."you're welcome"...whatever fits your need! At any rate this is one long train! There's a ruler and a deluxe alternate mode Shockwave in there for reference...over two feet long!!! Finally, your moment of zen...I tried to get my adopted dog sister to sit next to Omega Supreme for a cute little size comparison shot, but she knocked his ass out and split that sucka up the middle sho' 'nuff! In other words? Omega Supreme is no match for a giant dog. Unicron needs a pet!
