Sorry there weren't enough options to mention Piranacon. My pick would have to be Devestator for the cartoons but for the actual toys, Predaking wins hands down!

I'd have to say Devestator since it was the first I owned as a kid.

I see you havent added Fossilsaurus from the Gobot range (He is the only rocklord combiner) 4 into 1 and the combined figure has got extra armour and a large pellet gun.

Hi,
The cheapest i have seen was $180 and most expensive was $400 like all figures condition and whether it is complete really makes a difference and it is very rare these days to find this figure complete and MIB as it was made in teh 80s and limited release. I have a few pictures on my PC but i cant put them onto the post if you want pictures PM with your email address and i will send a few pictures.

the question of who is my favorite combiner is a tangled web indeed. of courser devastator has a high spot in my heart for being the first combiner i ever owned as a kid. but as far as characters on the cartoon i think my nod has to go to menasor. however Predaking has to win hands down for overall sweetness factor...i mean come on, he kicked some serious ass as a toy and in the show.

I own all the combiners (missing the odd figure or part though) except Monstructor and am almost finished putting them all together for display (just Devestator left). I don't really like the way Menasor or Bruticus looks, but the others are cool. I really gotta get Predakings left arm, Bruticus's foot and Menasor's left leg to finish these guys up.

I like Devastator only because he is six rather than the normal 5 figures, and he has a little more to him in regards to transforming. The others seem to simplistic to me, and they all work the same, but Devastator still has some originality. Just one opinion. However, in the show, I really liked Superion as well as Devastator.

A combiner is many transformers that get together to form one super robot.
I voted for Suprion I felt bad for him he had no votes.

Thought it would be fun to share each other's thoughts on the matter.
Guidelines: In this circumstance, a combiner counts as two or more toys that combine to form a larger toy, and it doesn't have to be a Transformer. I expect some Diaclone, Chogokin/GoDaiKin, Voltron, Go-Bots/Machine Robo, Microman, and Takara Brave toys to figure in here, and I'm open to a wider interpretation of toys that combine, as well.
I personally wouldn't count Headmasters or similar toys because they're only gaining one appendage from the combination, but that's your call.
Bring it on!

My own thoughts: 1. Great Goldran (Takara Brave of Sun). Hands down the most impressive robot I've ever seen, Great Goldran is over a foot tall, can shoot out 25 high powered missiles with the touch of five buttons, and is formed by combining a beautiful gold plated lion, Godzilla-type monster, hawk, mini police car, and mini fighter jet. The plastic is exceptionally durable and solid, the joints are sophisticated, the transformation is nothing short of brilliant, and the whole thing looks gorgeous in all modes. It's like Predaking on crack. I'm constantly amazed that more people aren't aware of this guy in the States. 2. God Ginrai (Transformers Powermasters) An Optimus Prime, a Powermaster, a trailer that transforms into a headquarters, and a second enormous robot that turns into a second trailer (it's a train on axels!) all combine to create an impressive and underrated robot. What I appreciate most beyond the size and appearance is the flexibility of this combiner. There are so many alternate transformations/modes to come up with because it was designed to be so versatile. 3. Victory Saber (Transformers: Victory) I'll readily admit that I've never seen this one in person and know precious little about it, but it just looks AWESOME (and I love space ships!). 4. Voltes V (Popy Chogokin) Yet another I've never owned because the cost is too prohibitive, but it looks darn elaborate. I'm always especially impressed by good diecast combiners because the connections had to be so much more intricate, not just a simple uninspired snapping into place. 5. Powered Convoy (Diaclone / Transformers G1) They took my favorite robot toy (and not just because he later became Optimus Prime) and built a combiner around him. Granted, the larger robot is an unmovable brick, but he looks darn cool, and he's a lot of fun to transform! 6. Mega Voyager (Power Rangers: Space) The last great clunky, chrome-covered combiner, and it's a darn creative one. Some incredibly cool and unique looking space vehicles (well, other than the rocket) combine in a very satisfying, yet creative way to combine an impressive larger robot. You could add Mega Winger for extra fun, too. 7. Bioman DX (Popy Chogokin / Super Sentai) Diecast, cool spaceships, clunky combiner with a solid, sturdy transformation. All in all, a very simply toy done very well. 8. Fire J-Decker (Takara Brave Police) It's always been my theory that these were leftover Takara designs for a combining Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime that never got used in the Transformers series. Indeed, J-Decker is the absolute coolest Ultra Magnus since the original (in both modes), Duke Fire is an adequate Optimus Prime firetruck, both are combiners that join with smaller vehicles, and then both combiners join together to form a sturdy and impressive massive combiner. 9. Build Tiger (Takara Brave Police) If J-Decker and Duke Fire were really unused designs for Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime, then Build Tiger was almost certainly intended to be the next generation Devastator. Four better and larger construction vehicles that turned into better robots (well, nothing beats Bone Crusher) combined in a very original way to form Build Tiger. Best yet, as with nearly all the combiners on my list thus far, they required NO ADDITIONAL PARTS to do it. It all came from the robots, themselves. 10. Predaking (Transformers G1) Certainly the most ambitious of the official Transformers combiners. Predaking was huge, partially diecast, and involved a lot of creative transformations. I do feel that the robot modes suffered a bit, that combining was tricky and not all that well thought out, and that the colors were an eyesore, but the overall product was impressive. Honorable mentions: Computron (Transformers G1) Dairugger XV (Popy Chogokin / Matchbox Voltron) Devastator (Transformers G1 / Diaclone) Dynaman DX (Popy Chogokin / Super Sentai) Gao Gai Gar DX (Takara King of Braves Gao Gai Gar) God Sigma (Popy Chogokin) Omega Prime (Transformers R.I.D.) Piranacon (Transformers G1) Power Dagwon (Takara Brave Command Dagwon) Rescue Megazord (Power Rangers: Turbo) Super Abega (Popy Chogokin) Super Train Megazord (Power Rangers Lightspeed) Totals (including honorable mentions): Transformers: 7 (33%) Popy Chogokin: 6 (29%) Takara Brave: 5 (24%) Power Rangers: 3 (14%) Others: 0 (0%)

What no love for the combaticons? Well, in my mind, most of those combiners were pretty much the same thing done over and over again. I dug Piranacon because he was particularly cool looking and Snaptrap was particularly awesome in both modes. I gave Computron props largely for Scattershot. I like the military theme of Bruticus, but I don't particularly care for any of the individual bots, especially not Onslaught. Nothing against Bruticus. I just don't think he's anything special. But hey. To each his own. That's the whole point of this

Wow Bruticus is probably the strongest Gesault and he beat Devastator with one punch and sorry what about the Voltron Lion Force?
I see alot of Brave stuff which most people can't relate too...

Wow Bruticus is probably the strongest Gesault and he beat Devastator with one punch and sorry what about the Voltron Lion Force? I see alot of Brave stuff which most people can't relate too... Sounds like your primary criteria is what the characters were like on their shows. Personally, strange as it sounds for a guy who still plays with toys, I outgrew the shows years ago and rarely think of them anymore. All that matters to me is the quality of the toy, itself. I've never seen a Brave show in my entire life. I just know the toys are awesome. So what's your top ten, megatron?
