Did anyone else play any RPG computer games from the 80s? I used to have a C-64 and played quite a few differnt ones. SSI seemed to be the company that pumped out a whole wack of these games. Some I used to play: Questron Phantasie Wizards Crown Bards Tale Might n' Magic Ultima The Sword of Fargoal as well as the series of AD&D & Dragonlance games that SSI released. Even found a place you can download the Phantasie games: www.apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/Sel/Phantasie_new.htm

my favorite game of all time is crystalis for nes. this was one of the best rpgs ever. it had elements of zelda but it stood alone above all other rpgs. theres a good review of it at i-mockery.com this was one game that held my life in its hands till the day i beat it. not too many games get me like that. others being final fantasy 3 snes, mario world snes, resident evil series ;D all of them

commadore had some awesome games. he-man the movie was a great game they also had thundercats, transformers, as 10incher showed the gijoe game was awesome...for the time ;D i remember going to my friends place and playing gijoe on his commadore 64. there was also a great game about a fish in a petstore? i vaguely remember. what i want is oregon trail and swiss family robinson for any home system. i played the hell out of them on the comp. that and the serria games like heroquest, police quest, space quest, i loved all those games yet only a really bad port for kings quest for nes. sega cd lied back in the day and swore to have serria games for the system but they never made it past the pages of game pro

I think i have crystalis for NES. Bought it at a yard sale awhile ago and have yet to check it out. I loved the SSI AD&D games for the C-64, they were the shit back in the day. i think there were 2 different Transformers games as well. I have the first one with its original box. the second one was kinda like Lode Runner.
I remeber a game for the C-64 where you were a cop or something on a roof, and what you did was move the crosshairs of your gun across the screen and shoot criminals (maybe it was the other way around???). Anyone remeber the name?

I loved my Atari. We played JOUST all the time on that, and Pole Position 2. For some reason, I loved that game. But for NES, I loved Tetris, Contra, Double Dragon, and Ninja Gaiden. Still got them all, and occasionally play them. Plus, who can't love Ms. Pac-Man. I'm a sucker for the old games. Love to play them.

with the exception of the ps2 I have owned only nintendo since the mid 80's. I also had a trs-80. You get bonus geek points if you know what it is, or better still had one. I liked a game on a cassette tape for it called something like lurkley manor. I also had a cart for it called dinowars. yeah 2 battling dinosaurs. I had an atari 7800 that I played xevious and donkey kong on. then I got nintendo. I loved contra, bionic commando, shadowgate, goonies 2, and ff1. Then I got an snes, ff3 (or ff6 depending on your pov) is STILL (along with chrono trigger) one of my all time favorite games, shadowrun was cool, scooby doo was good, mk2 was good. Then I got and n64. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't have a game. I got it for my 20th b-day. My boy Brent where I grew up hooked me up with his copy of Shadows of the empire. SOTE is my other favorite game. I recently dug out my n64 and started trying to get a few games for it (scooby doo, mario kart, spiderman, and oricana of time if anyone wants to get rid of them, LMK). My wife got a ps2 because none of the kids would let her play vice city when we went places. I picked one up off ebay dirt cheap for her. I got a GBA SP for my 23rd bday and a he-man an sw ep. 2 game. Apparently I started getting systems for 1 or 2 games. gba=he-man, n64=sote, snes=ff3, ps2=vice city/re series. I haven't got anything else since the ps2. barely play it anymore. play my n64 and gba now.

I bought an Arcade machine from Target with Contra and similar genre games, but its still in the corner of my living room in the box. No too bad for $90.00 though. Will look good in my toy room if I ever get it situated.

OK folks, going for a big thread here. What are your favourite games, on what system and why?
Mine are as follows
PS2 Rogue Trooper (I grew up reading 2000AD and this game is so much fun) Demon Stone (Finally getting to run around Faerun from Forgotten Realms is a blast)
NES Tecmo World Wrestling (This game really outshone ANY WWF game on the system)
PC Carmageddon (This game quite frankly is one of the most fun things i have ever experienced/wasted hours on)

Coleco Telstar Ranger - Shoot the white dot with a .44 Magnum game. Ask your parents what a Telstar is. Commodore 64 - origial Mario Bros (1984), not the NES side scroller either. Fans of mario should know this. It was made before super mario brothers. TI-99/4A - Tunnels of Doom (1982) one of the very first RPG games ever!! NES - Gaunlet (original) Atari Jaguar - Alien vs Predator SEGA Genesis - Altered Beast 3DO - Original Gex PS1 - Twisted Metal 2 Dreamcast - Resident Evil: code name Veronica Xbox 360 - Rainbow six: Las Vegas 2 I'm sure I've forgot some, I'll update when I remember

Favorite video game for me has to be Battlestar Galactica. It's a prequel to TOS with elements of the current series. You play as Adama in his first mission in a viper alongside Cain and a few new characters. Richard Hatch & Dirk Benedict provide voiceovers. They also reprise their roles as Apollo & Starbuck towards the end. It's a great stress reliever. If you're stressed out, go shoot some cylon raiders. I've thought about writing some fan fiction based on this game's characters. Surprised no one's considered making a fanfilm or fan audio drama based on this game. Dwight Schultz("The A-Team") also provided voicovers as well.

(look it up on wikipedia of jfgi) Also I had Solstice and Swords and Serpents n the Nes!! My G/F remembers Head Over Heals on her Amstrad back in the day!

i never touched a computer until christmas 2000 but i use to see films in the 80s where kids were playing dungeons and dragons type computer games that i always thought looked cool and really wanted to play. but honestly i never seen much use for a computer other than games until the internet really took off.
back in the arcade: YIE AR KUNG FU. and the much simpler KUNG FU MASTER.
atari 2600: BERSERK for hours and hours.
nintendo: WILLOW, the game from the film. i still think this is one of the coolest games ever. LEGEND OF KAGE. RENEGADE.
playstation: SUIKODEN, i cannot believe this game isnt as well known and polupar as zelda and final fantasy. TENCHU stealth assassin.
playstation 2: GTA vice city, THE WARRIORS, and BULLY.
im planning on buying a ps3 right now mainly to play red dead redemption. but im not into video games now like i was as a kid and teen, plus i guess ps2 and 3 arent considered classic yet. maybe not even 1.

Hey 3 3/4 inch Collector... Kung Fu Master was an awesome game, If I remember rightly when my brother went to the Twin Galaxies arcade in the states he had his score recorded and is something like number 2 in the world for Kung Fu Master he has it in his arcade garage on a mame machine but he'd love a dedicated cab. Any idea when the last time you saw one in a working arcade was?

(My list in no certain order)
Kung Fu Legend of Zelda Double Dragon Castlevania Contra TMNT 1, 2 & 3 Punchout Marble Madness 1942 Bubble Bobble 1 & 2 Kung Fu Heroes Wizards and Warriors

Ooh, deary. Where to start? Right now Wonderboy in Monsterland (on Sega) sits in front of the t.v. So many oldschool games I got absorbed in. I used to thrash Rastan at the arcade, that ate up a lot of my lunch money after school. Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja too. I used to watch my Mum and older brother play Ladybird and Sinistar but I was too young to play. My PS2 is almost entireley dedicated to playing arcade classic collections. My girl loves Bubble Bobble, Snow Bros. n' Super Bust-a-move.
