Do you mean these as in my collection? I personnally own the brown-blue starcat, the blue-purple starhawk, the brown-olive rhinodemon and a blue-green dinodemon.

I kinda like the beasties in the silver and gold colors rather than the blue and red colors. Not sure why, they just seem to fit in better with the line I think.

Looking at the archive of "Defenders of the Planets" Orion, I noticed he has blonde hair and red harness. Well, I got one today, that has brown hair and a brownish harness. Were there variants to this line? I will take pics if necessary.

There is a red, olive, and silver armour variation for all figures. The weapons were done in gold or silver only.
There are several other variations that exist too. The feather boot variations, are also called "xo" variations for the appearance of x's and o's on the belts in addition to the feathered boots. These exist for each figure.
Zardoom come's with 3 different head band colors under both color variations. So technically if you wanted every version released, you'd need 12 different Zardooms. (3 each for Black, Black with feather boots, Gray, and Gray with feather boots)
Weaponmaster comes with the "clown version" (red lipstick)
Strongarm comes with 2 distinctively different head/arm colors....a green and the military green/brown that is shown above.
Quasar has two different wrist band colors as well.
I have acquired the olive/brown Zardoom armour, so it does exist. I'm still in need of a Strongarm olive/brown armour. If you have one, I'd be greatful and do have different colors of armours for trade.

I came across a Gold version of Zaardoon's Staff. Has anyone seen this Before? I was wondering if this is a common variation that possibly matched up with his gold armor?

I came across a Gold version of Zaardoon's Staff. Has anyone seen this Before? I was wondering if this is a common variation that possibly matched up with his gold armor? All weapons where made in gold and silver and they were not released with a particular armour color you can match it up with every armor I would say the silver staff is much easier to get than the gold version I myself am looking for a gold staff for some time now

I just received this toy in a lot of accessories and parts from different toy lines from the 80's...I don't need this item, so I am wanting to put this up on Ebay. I found that this is a toy from The Defenders of the Planets line, but am not sure if it is Rhino-Beast or Rhino-Demon..since they look so similar. It is approx. 7 inches long and did not have a harness or saddle with it. It's a green/brown color with red eyes. Any help is appreciated since I want to make sure I get the name right before I list it. Attachments:

Picked up these bad boys off craigslist today for $10 total. Awesome! Both Saddles are perfect, but I'm worried I'll break them if I latch them into place. Now if I could only find the freakin' figures anywhere! Attachments:

The saddles on these are real sturdy, hardly a chance of breaking.

Yeah! I was super excited. The guy said he used to have tons of the figures, but he hasn't found them yet. Keeping my figures crossed!

I own this thing myself, since 1986. Every small creature has its colored version. I own all four of them.

Okay...every time I see the larger, ride-on beasts they clearly have the Battle Cat/Panthor rip-off saddle in gold or silver...I got me a large beast with a saddle recently, and the saddle was not a straight rip-off, but altered and more "original"! I know that the figures used primarily ripped off body parts and later used more original pieces down the line...is it the same with the beast saddles? I'm sure, but any insight?

Well, this is the first time I've seen one of these saddles, indeed it's very different from the ones that we find here in the Netherlands. I couldn't tell you if this is part of a later production change or not, or if it's only for the US market... either way, nice find!

I've seen those rinding monsters many times with saddles from the same mold as Battle Cat's. It's even the very first time I see one of them with a slightly different saddle. And I think this new saddle fits the Defenders' steed a lot better than the MOTU knock-off one.

I'm pricing stuff for sale. I have a complete Strongarm figure. I sold one of the cats for a great price once. What are the figures usually worth?

Depends on the conditon and how complete they are, if the crotches are chipped, scartches on the ball joints that go into the crotch, that's a big problem with these figures.
