I never liked King Hiss or Leech. Ugly and no fun. Aww, I can distinctly recall havin' fun with those two, King Hisss - because my mother didn't know he opened up to reveal a guts full o' snakes (she wasn't that impressed), Leech - cos we used to stick 'im to the outside of my buddy's 2nd storey bedroom window and see if he'd stay on overnight.

I think the majority of figures in the line were awesome, however King Hiss was a bit lame once you took his body section off & Snout Spout was a bit of an atrocity! Modulok was spot on, hours of fun with so many poses, stances, etc. & classics such as Ram-Man, Beast Man, Man At Arms, great toy range!

Personally I never hated any figure back in the day. Of course nowadays I'd say, that some designs should have been thought over or were somehow rehashed. But I could not name any figure, that I really dislike from the toyline. I think, that the meteorbs were quite stupid and not fitting for the line. Terror Claws Skeletor was maybe a stupid design and Flying Fists He-Man was pretty dull... but that's it.

The three dinosaurs. Every single toy company released dinosaurs. So, dinosaurs in MOTU was not very original. I am not a fan a of the Dinos either because I never had them as a kid however, they were in fact an original MOTU idea as they were in the Powers of Grayskull comics. I am not quite sure of the timeline of their conception as compared to Dino Riders and similar toys but they were in the comics for sure along with un-produced figures such as He-Ro.

They seemed to lack a touch of innovation compared to other MOTU rides. A little more articulation coulda' been good, considerin' the prices they fetch nowadays, ouch. I'd like to see Tyrantisaur in action, but Bionatops looks overburdened with all those peashooters and HeMan sitting on it's head. Somebody call WSPA.

Multi-Bot was a little confusing. Not to mention easily lost pieces.

Maybe many of us were sexist little dudes, but did anybody really enjoy receiving She-Ra, Evil-lyn or any of the other female characters? I know I didn't.

The worse part about the female figures were they were hard to stand. I did think the Golden Girls were better than the Mattel figures though.

I have to go with all 3 of the movie figs- Gwildor, Saurod and Blade. All 3 were out of place IMO.

OK, let's recapitulate: MOTU figures that meat impopularity are: 1- TWISTOID and ROTAR because they damage floors; 2- PRINCE ADAM because he's just another He-Man; 3- RAM MAN because of his lack of action features; 4- GUILDOR because he is too different from the others; 5- The DINOSAURS (I mentionned them) because they are too common; 6- STRATOS, for some reason I didn't really understand;
Am I forgetting anyone?

Any of the female figures - I'm not sexist but female figures look out of place in my collection. The only one I own is Cheetara from Thundercats

Stratos was a cool character but his action figure was terrible. It shared the leg sculpt with Beast Man and Moss Man and I could never (then nor now) get him to stand up without tipping over mainly due to his rocket pack which gave him a different center of gravity than the others.

My list is refering to MOTU vintage (not MOTUC):
-- Blast Attak
-- Extendar
-- Mantenna
-- Ram Man
I can say Rio Blast is a good figure but he is out of my Eternia universe...

I never understood why he was named "RIO" Blast. The translation of the word "RIO" (river) compared to the figure is all wrong. What would he have to do with a river? or water?

I always thought Mattel started to create ethnic orientated characters after 1986....so, we had an oriental guy (Ninjor), an african guy (Clamp Champ) and a latin guy (Rio Blast)...
Hanna Barbera did the same in 70's - Justice League... Also, Olmec Toys' Sun Man heroes were ethnic orientated too...

I would have to say Faker. Why would skeletor make a He man robot ?? Was he in love with him so much that he would have his face around all of the time? I thought he hated He man. If i would hate someone i would not want to see his face every day :-)

The only one I own is Cheetara from Thundercats I AM a female; though I do share a bit of your opinion on the female figures. For instance, the fact that they don't stand up easily. But there is ONE other reason why I wasn't so fund of the fantasy lines female figures in general: THEIR LACK OF INNOVATION. Admit it: All the female figures we see in toy lines look exactly the same: regular humans with a bit of equipment. For example, Catra who is just a girl with a cat mask. Why didn't they make a REAL Feline-Girl? Like a girl with claws, tabby cat fur all over her body, pointy ears, a tail and whiskers. Now, THAT would have been creative from Mattel. And why didn't they make any figure of Scorpia, the scorpion woman? Here you have one of the most original-looking female character from a fantasy show, and no toy is made of her! Did toy makers thought us girls just too afraid of mythological-looking beings or waht!! See what I mean?

Totally get your point - it's funny because some of the most valuable figures in a few boys toy lines are the female ones because they didn't sell well in a boys line. I can remember a female 12" GI Joe going in the thousands on ebay.....

Totally get your point - it's funny because some of the most valuable figures in a few boys toy lines are the female ones because they didn't sell well in a boys line. I can remember a female 12" GI Joe going in the thousands on ebay..... Is that lack of innovation in the female characters the result of creators being males? I mean: if the creators of those lines were females, would the female characters show more creativity in their features? You know, when I watch movies, I see plenty of male actors. Most of them (except for James Stewart and Gary Cooper looking like a pair of twins) are rather recognizable from each other. We even meet "comic" actors with features that don't fit with the "macho" looks. But what about actresses? They all look exactly the same: Jane Russell, Marilyn Monroe, Gina Lolobrigida, Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot, etc. all share this hour-glass silhouette with this high-cheekboned face and a short nose. Result: I have trouble telling one from another. They are actually so alike, in Perry Mason show episodes, for example, I sometimes have trouble following the story because I can't tell one woman from another! But do we see "comic" actresses with features that don't fit with that mold? Hardly ever. If it wasn't enough, sometimes, the "pretty" actresses show a more or less serious lack of talent in acting. It is just like if the actresses are chosen only for their looks, which is a hit-or-miss when it comes to acting skills. If Kim Novak and Susan Hayward were great actresses, others (I won't name names) were however terrible, despite their popularity. Around those ones, male actors have to show treasors of acting skills to save a movie starring one of those "dolls". But when I look at the names of the directors of those films, they are all males. Result: they ask for skills from their male actors, but ask their female stars to "flutter their eyelashes and be cute"... It is the same thing with toys. Most of those creators are males, so they create female characters that fit with their own fantasies. But what if those creators were females? Wouldn't we see more creativity in the female characters? Wouldn't a female creator create female characters that are more different from each other?

Did toy makers thought us girls just too afraid of mythological-looking beings or waht!! See what I mean? Damn straight. Scorpia woulda been right up there for me with all the coolest MOTU figures. They really did not appreciate girls as part of the bonafide action figure buying public back in the day. I have to question some of these choices. Stratos was pure classic hammy too dumb to be anything but awesome MOTU. Gwildor, sure, kinda lame... but the other two movie figures were pure badassery--whether they fit in with the rest of the line or not. I surely am questioning why has FISTO not been mentioned at all. In a toyline permeated with the coked up dreams of closeted gay Mattel executives, Fisto stands out with his 70s homoerotic rough trade outfit and mustache and GIANT FREAKING FIST!!! And Clamp Champ, the one black guy, has to be the most boring figure in existence. Take away his weapon and he is a damn stripper who is confused about his costume. In porno, he could be interesting... as an action figure, not so much. *desperately looks up Clamp Champ porn*
