I love this line, but don't own any yet. I was hoping to maybe pick up a larger loose collection for a good price. Do these guys hold there value pretty well? Any HTF figures I should be looking out for?

I like this line as well but dont collect it, as for rare figures there is a Peter Jackson as Hobbit figure that is shortpacked. I want to get a set of nine ringwraiths though/

The hardest in the line were the last 2 released. The New Eowyn and the Orc Lieutenant with the Skull in his helmet.
Other than that.....the early orcs and Uruks keep their value pretty good. It is not a cheap series to collect.

I've noticed that any of the generic army builer types sell pretty well, for a higher $$$ than most of the well known characters. Even loose I've seen many of them reach the $15+ mark. Nothing like a massive Orc army

They did doa balrog prototype but they did not release it, as for figures that are rarer, the rohirrim soldier, elven archer, faramir, burger king uruk hai, orc lieutenant, the last eowyn, there maybe a few others but these are the main ones. Here are pictures of my collection at least what I have displayed I actually have a bunch more that I don't have displayed, i am only missing like 3 figures.

The Balrog is available NOW! He goes for around $115-$125, shipped. If you can find him at a local store, then bless your heart.

when i worked at Walmart i bought a few ring wraiths.. then a few orks...then the hobbits...and then down hill from there i heard about the Balrog coming out so i ordered one, it came out to 130$ CND shipped all i have to say is dang - 15 pounds, 48" wing span & 24" high!! i too brought it to work with me, it was fine till a costumer knocked it to the ground he freaked out apologizing and asked how much it was when i told him it was a 130$ ..he laughed "thats it?"gave me 130$ and apologized again. i was going to MOD it any ways so i gave him 50$ back and said ill just fix it. so i got my balrog for 80$ woot!

Wow turnbolt and biged98 those are great LOTR collections. I have just started collecting these and they are fantastic figures. I already have 23 figures and have another 13 coming in the mail. I would like to get one figure of each character eventually. Here is my collection so far, I havn't got shelves for them yet so they are living on my kitchen dresser. I have to admit Sauron is my favourite! Can anyone tell me which are the rarest and hardest to find figures? Also does anyone own the Balrog? I would love to see pictures of it with the figures! It looks like a really cool figure.

Welcome to the boards! Here's a picture of my Balrog : I haven't taken pics of my LOTR figures yet, but the Balrog is amazing. Really huge and damn heavy too! The hardest to find would be the mail in Burger King Uruk Hai. Also Gothmog and his lieutenant ( with the human skull on his helmet) are hard to get. That and the figures that were exclusive to box sets like Mouth of Sauron tend to do well. They remain poular figures though.

Thanks!
He is so cool, he really does massive! He is definately one of the most impressive pieces I have seen. I really want him because he is a pretty important figure in the story and because he is so evil looking.
I only started collecting these figure a month ago so I am still learning about them. It seems like everyday I discover a new figure that I want. They are one of the nicest new lines I have seen and they have made me love LOTR again. I am re-reading the books at the moment and then going to watch the movies again.

I was really lucky to get Gothmog for $6 at my local supermarket! I found him, Frodo, Gandalf and Aragorn there and it inspired me to start collecting them. I had been thinking about collecting a modern line and then there they were when I was doing my grocery shopping. Gothmog was the first figure I opened as I am sharing this collection with my mother who is the biggest LOTR fan eve she made me read the books when I was eight years old. She lives in the country at the moment so I had to wait till she came back to the city to open them. It was great to see her smile when she opened Gandalf, her favourite character. Luckily the figures will be staying with me in our city house for the time being.

Can anyone tell me which are the rarest and hardest to find figures? The harder figures to find are from the last wave...one of which was the moria orc: I still need him myself.................... Some of the other harder figures are the army builders....I am still after a few more Rohan Hoursemen...and any figure that comes with a horse.

The early versions had play action moves (button in their back that raised arms and so on.) This really limited the posibility of the figures. I prefer the super possible figures that were released later...and avoid lots with any of the first released figures. The later figures are nicer all around.

I picked up this figure lot loose and was wondering if any LOTR collectors out there can answer a few questions. First of all what exact series are these from, I haven't seen any LOTR figures with cloth capes? Second, what accessories am I missing for each figure and do the 2 spare cloth capes & skeleton go with any other figures here? So far, here is what I think I am missing, correct me if I'm wrong: Gandalf - missing sheeth (did he have one?), staff & hat Aragorn - missing cape (was it rubber?), knife and its sheeth Boromir - missing cup and cape (was it rubber?) Legolas - missing bow, arrows & swords Gimli (with cape) - missing helmet and axes (how many?) Gimili - missing helmet and axes?? Frodo - looks complete with cape, sting & sheeth Merry - missing sheeth (did he have one) These are the first LOTR figures I own so any help is appreciated.

I think that the ones with the cloth cape are from the Fellowship multipack that was available a while ago. You are missing 2 hobbits from the set and I think that the extra gimli was called mines of moria gimli or something like that so the skeleton is probably from him.

The 2nd Gimli should have more axes and a pedestal with the ring on it, but he doesn't have a helmet (he should have a ponytail, though). That was the first Gimli released from Toybiz, the "Council of Elrond" one, or something like that. The skeleton goes to the side of a Moria base that came with the first Sam figure.

Blockbuster, I am sorta into the line but only pickup loose figures at Thrift stores and garage sales. It is kinda slow going this way though so might get into them full board sometime in the future (loose lots on Ebay I guess!.

Picked up a very large collection of LOTR over the weekend at near 100 figures, the Trolls, some horse sets, Mouth of Sauron, Fell Beast, Treebeard and the Balrog as well. Many of the figures are orcs and army builders though have to go through everything to see which I want to keep and sell the rest to make some $$ back. Stoked to finally get the Balrog and a few other rarities, will post some pics after I get a chance to go through them.
