I agree with you there Sniper... I dont think the remco KO's had a big Realese here in Australia. I dont Remember ever seeing them as a kid.
However I can remember seeing the Galaxy warriors/fighters in the shops for 2.00ea I remember likeing them but not buying them as I thought it would be better to put the money towards a MOTU figure..lol

deffinately Remco in the US...particularly the Warlord line, i remember those all over...Warrior Beasts, Conan, and Pirates of the Galaxseas not SO much...
i would say Galaxy Fighters/Warriors and Laser, Beasts, and whatever were a distant third...i remember them, but not as vividly as the Remcos...

Another U.S. vote for Remcos, they had quite a bit of advertising in comic books back in the day(I mean D.C. did own warlord) so even if you weren't familiar with k.o.s at all you probably knew of Lost World of Warlord at least.

In the Netherlands, it's gotta be Defenders of the Planets. MOTU sold extremely well and everybody had a DOTP figure or two to go with it. They shared a spot on the aisle right next to MOTU unlike GF/GW which were slighly more harder to find. I would call them relatively common here. Getting the weapons/armour is much more diffficult than getting the figure though.

I remember Galaxy Fighters (or Warriors) and Lost World of the Warlord being fairly common. I also had Snakeman from Warior Beasts and a couple of the X-Changer types

Would you consider Blackstar a KO?

Would you consider Blackstar a KO? Nope, considering it had its own cartoon series that dates before MOTU

Blackstar was first, huh?I had no idea. In cartoon form Blackstar definitely came first. In toys it's MOTU that came out first, Blackstar being Galoob's response to Mattel to a fantasy line, they had the idea to fetch the other Filmation series staring a musclebound, fur speedo wearing hero. I once read that Galoob deliberately made their figure to be compatible with MOTU to surf on the wave. Now of what I know Masters of the Universe the figure line and Blackstar the cartoon came put the same year. At that point I don't think either ripped-off the other since pre-production for such stuff is usualy from a couple of month to a couple of years, so it's safe to believe they were being develloped around the same time. Giving the Fantasy boost that were out in the late 1970's early 1980's, it's not far-fetched... Back to the topic, here in Canada the knock-off I remember the more vividly from my childhood were indeed the Remco's mostly the Warrior-Beast.
