Thanks for all the info and pics guys. What I meant was that this particular figure looks to have come with this cape. What I was wondering before I got it in hand is if someone who owned the figure swapped the cape at one time. Based on the matching red color tones, it looks to have come out from Remco this way (not that this was intended to be the norm or anything)

the red being used is whatever red vinyl they could get from the garment district cheapest. it changed a few times during production runs. confirming this as a variant is arguable as it hasnt been seen carded in this fashion. its a very easy swap and as a kid it is very likely to happen. i think its a great look but i cant confirm it as a varant without card proof.

Good point about the vinyl TKOM. Yeah I don't think were gonna see a carded one as proof anytime soon, especially since no-one has come across one yet.

Didn't even realize I had this pic on my PC - The Journey Through Time Playset. Anyone know if it was release with Warlord or Warrior Beast packaging? Actually, I'm pretty sure that's the 'Shung's Lair' playset, from Tiger's 'Land of The Lost' toy line.

being that remco just switched up and used whatever material was available at the moment, does someone want to loan me their skullman cape so i can use it as a blueprint for cutting my own?

Have you been able to find vinyl? I've been looking for small colored pieces to make capes, but had no luck.

just buy some red vinyl sticker paper. or go to a sign shop and as to buy some red vinyl sticker. then take 2 peices, un peel them, then stick them together. and trace out a stencil in the shape of the cape, and cut it out. Vinyl sticker is strong, I used to make hordak capes from it. I cut all these out with an x-acto, from vinyl scraps that the sign shops were throwing away. I made em for my friends bands a few years back.

i guess i just figured similar material wouldn't be that hard to come by. never actually looked into it. but thanks for that tip on red vinyl stickers. coincidentally enough, my place of employment pays me to make junk mail and those annoying subscription cards that fall out of magazines. we just recently bought out a local sign shop. i'm betting i could stop by there and snag some red vinyl.

The blood splatter was from a Red Paint marker... just put the tip of it on an angle, put your mouth near it and blow (yea it sounds bad) it splatters all the paint, like a blood splatter effect. its pretty cool.

I has talked to someone at a sign shop a fear or so ago, and they wanted me to buy a whole roll of the red vinyl to do it . Most of the sign shops dont keep the non adhesive vinyl in colors in for some reason . I called a few more shops to check the story out , LOL .

I sold a loose Skullman on eBay on Sunday for a sweet $32! Nice, out of curiosity, was it just the figure or did he come with his cape, knife, and bow?

Loose figure, no accessories. Congrats you sold that for a nice price. These guys seem so hit or miss for me. Sometimes I'll be following an auction that goes really cheap, other times not so much.

Get a load of these...kinda wondering if they are the real deal, but got a set of four vinyl lizards which bare striking resemblance to the Remco reptile steeds. Okay, multiple markings...most have either or any combination of "1980", "Made in China", "Imperial", or some weird symbol that kinda looks like a cross between kanji and cuneiform. The Imperial stamp is barely visible on those that have it...looks like the mold of the toys were altered to cover up the stamp or something...same deal with the weird symbol. Anyone know if there's anything specific to look for to to verify these as the Remco Warrior Beast dragons? Also, does anyone know if Imperial just released the lizards on their own...as just that...lizards? I was thrilled to find these...I had never official sought them out since I had heard they were hard to find and usually expensive on the collector's market. I also collect ugly-looking rubber lizards, monsters, dinosaurs and the like...so it's a win even if these aren't "real" Warrior Beast dragons. At any rate, here's a shot of these guys all mounted up with Remco figures. There ya are, kids! Bah...d'oh oh oh...how did that stupid fuzz ball get in there!!! Ehhhh, I ain't reshootin' the photo..........

wow! awesome set, i only have the red one, and have been after the others for a long long time. the frilled one is way up on my want list! i do think they were released just as loose toys in a display box. not sure how to tell the difference. like you said though, it doesn't matter much, they're still awesome!

The frilled one looks like the fire dragon that came with Ramar? Very cool! I think Imperial and Remco used the same molds back in the day.

I think both versions of Skullman have black bows and curve more in on the handle, but I could easily be wrong...
