Hi else, Yes I have the fat Kelek, Valkeer, the Pulvereye weapons, the Snake Cave playset piece all painted. I know there's more than one set of these out there, as LJN made a few different mock-ups for catalog shots. I also have a packaged Pernicon. I posted these earlier but here it is if you don't want to search the thread: (note the Pulvereye pictured here and his weapons are customs - but I do have the actual weapons just not pictured)

HOLY *%&$#!!!. That Pernicorn is like my all time holy grail. That must've set you back a pretty penny. Even Cave Fishers seem to have been going nuts lately. I sold my loose one for $200, but there's a loose one right now that's currently over $250. I imagine the Pernicorn was in the 4 digits range...I am really impressed man. I saw that thread, didn't know they were yours. A Snake Cave playset??? wow... Unreal. Also, I don't know if you saw it, but some prototype, supposedly real Pulvereye weapons were on Ebay recently.
Also, since you seem to be an authority on this line, do you happen to know how many Pernicorns have been found? I've heard of 2 now, unless this is the same one sold by the guy I talked to.

Else, The Pernicon wasn't cheap, that's for sure! I was tracking it for years, it was my Holy Grail too. I believe it's the same one you're thinking of. If there's two of them that would be cool indeed. I got mine about 6-7 years ago... As for the Snake Cave, I didn't mean to imply I had the whole playset -- I just have this piece: As you can see from the catalog shot, it goes on the roof and is the prison floor. I was aware of that set of Pulvereye weapons, I already had a set of those (like fat Kelek and Valkeer, there's more than one set floating around). Here's my set of Pulvereye prototype weapons: I don't have any info on that mail away auction -- I find it interesting that Strongheart has the dull gray armor - the first one's had the silver shiny armor. Believe me, this is my all-time favorite toy line. I love it so much, I commissioned the GodBeast to make the (now well known) Pulvereye custom (this was before I got my set of proto weapons, so he was just working off the catalog photos at the time). You can see it with the Pernicon in this old shot: And I've been working on this D&D fan game "The Rise of Warduke" for the last 2 years (I've posted some images from it throughout this thread). From what I understand, the actual Pulvereye proto is in a private collectors hands, so it is out there. I would have to say, that is the ultimate holy grail for me, I love Cyclops and orcs, so a Cyclopean Orc God (I think he's based on Gruumush One-Eye) is as awesome as it gets!

Yeah, that Pulverye custom is the bees knees bro. Good stuff! I have no idea how someone could make such accurate, strange accessories like that from a picture. I wonder why there's his weapons floating around though, and no prototypes figures of him? You'd think they would stay together due to the rarity...
I've also noticed awhile back that the pics of the windups on the cards don't look like the actual windups that were released, like the cave fishers eyes having the black cross lines in them on the card, and Pernicorn having white legs, etc. Also, the dragon on top of the Fortress of Fangs is shown with a grey body and yellow wings and the Young Male Titan with the white and blue skirt..

Luckily I had the rare LJN catalog from 83 or 84 and was able to scan hi-res pics for GodBeast to work off of. It was tricky because one of the images was a mirror image (backwards) and we had to figure out which. We determined it by looking at the shield shooters in the picture and saw they were also flipped. Here's one of the one's I scanned: Here's another shot of Godbeast's custom. The helmet is also removable. You can't see from the photos, but the shield shooter actually works (he built it over Mettaflame and then made a mold. In hindsight we should have used the Ogre King, but destroying a shield shooter Ogre King to make a custom was just too painful to do!) For comparison, here's the actual Pulvereye proto weaps and the custom one's Godbeast made, side by side: As for why no Pulvereye has shown up for sale - Well a lot of it has to do with an employee at LJN who was basically the last person there when they went out of business, and took home boxes of stuff that was going to be tossed out. These items over time have been sold to private collectors over the years, so some of these collectors just aren't going on the internet and posting pics of what they have, while others it seems are selling on ebay. I only know of the one actual Pulvereye proto so maybe they didn't make as many of him as they did Kelek and Valkeer (which is still a relatively low number).

As for the D&D video game starring the LJN characters, here's a video showing the Fortress of Fangs dungeon. Hope you dig:)

Now that the auction is over.... I just won this guy for an astronomically low cost! Was afraid someone in here would swoop him out from me, but alas, my first "unproduced" AD&D figure! Original version of Zarak with knife molded into hand and flesh colored face! I love this little ghoul!

Mind if I ask how much? I didn't even see this auction. Nice score!

Mind if I ask how much? I didn't even see this auction. Nice score! Less than $200 On a side note- It seems like there are more of these unproduced Fat Kelek's and Valkeer's than there are of the supposedly produced wind up monsters! I know of 7?! Fat Keleks (5 painted, 2 unpainted) and 5 Valkeers (4 painted, 1 unpainted)....and thats counting without exerting any effort, Im sure theres even MORE of them out there. Quite possibly the only time when a unproduced figure is more common than a produced one! Heck the Zarak I won is only the 2nd one Ive ever seen, next to Billy Galaxy's that he posted earlier in this thread!

Yeah, I have had 2 Cave Fishers, but only know of 1 carded Pernicorn, owned by a group mmeber (maybe 2, unless it's the same one), never heard of a loose one. I think only the Cave Fisher was ever released, in a small test area.

I really think Hawkler is one of the best looking figures from the line! What did you end up paying for him Else3573? Finding a Tiamat with unbroken wings is pretty tough, especially one thats reasonably priced.

I outbid everyone and won him for $47, and he's in great condition, legs nice and tight, I don't see any dirt marks or paint chips. I've noticed quite a few lines have been cheaper lately, I think either because the holiday shopping season hasn't started yet, and/or the government shut down scared alot of people and they wanted to hold onto their cash. I was going to pay $70-80 if I ever saw another fot it, put in a max of $70 on this and got it for $47! My best bet on a Tiamat is to bid on one, not buy it now. I have bid one a few before, both with good wings, unbroken tabs, they went for like $150 and the other surprised me, went for $115 or so. I'm in no rush, I would have to find a way to start a new shelf to fit him and the fortress on, or a table, that means boxing up other stuff...

Good price on Hawkler. My Tiamat took quite awhile to get, was outbid on many auctions mostly because i had a certain price point that I didn't want to go over. Can't quite remember what I paid but at $115 for a complete unbroken one, that's a steal if you can score it for that price.

Yeah, I was kicking myself for not bidding a little higher on that one...

Only thing is you never know what the top bid amount was from the winning bidder.

very true. If you've got plenty of disposable income , you could just put an exorbitant number, like $1000, and you'll probably win. The flipside to that is, I have seen buyers bid high numbers and then just not pay. One guy that bought a lot of action figures off me took opening a case to get him to pay. I looked at his feedback, and in the positive feedback section (since you can't leave negatives for buyers anymore) was 11 different posts of stuff like "horrible buyer", "cost me $400", "never paid", etc. I suspect he just bidded high, and if it went too high, he'd just never answer the invoice. E Bay needs to crack down on people like that.

The sad truth is that Ebay doesn't really care to much about members bidding up and not paying as either way they get their listing fees from the seller (and final value fees if the seller doesn't file a NPB). All that really does is discourage good sellers and drive them away from Ebay.
Anyway, If I remember correctly, out of all the grails that I did end up actually acquiring, Tiamat was one of the longest running ones to get. Took me years at the price I wanted.

The same person who is selling that, or sold it, has the part of the snake cave playset, unpainted, as well as the Zarak prototype with the flesh colored face, and the Mercion prototype, and the big Shayla as well as lots of weapons and shields cast in grey and tan colors.. He or she worked at LJN so most of the stuff they are selling is LJN stuff.

I knew nothing of this line growing up which is strange since it would have been right up my alley. D&D figures to me were the minis you played with the pen/paper game.
