hey Pallidmask, thats a bit of a story. 21st century toys who made all those 1:18 scale millitary figures and vehicles. they made a flight 19 avenger, and this little alien was included inside the plane as a little joke. That's great! I imagine he's not easy to track down, then, huh? I haven't seen many grey-inspired 3 3/4" figures out there and I'd love to have some in my collection. By the way, your display photos are awesome! After checking them out I want to reorganize my collection to my 3 3/4" guys are all together...

thank you. yeah i had a hard time finding the alien myself. i only collect figures and some playsets, i just dont have room for vehicles so i didnt want to by the avenger. i asked around for awhile in forums of guys that collect military vehicles and dont really collect action figures before i found a couple of people willing to give them up. there is this one in the picture that got a green outfit, and theres an identical one but with a reddish outfit. they have these really short none articulated legs though that dont stand well at all. i actually drilled really small holes in there feet and put them on a figure stand.

i was looking around online a couple weeks ago trying to find sdcc pictures of upcoming outer space men figures. well i ended up on some toyblog and there were pics from various small booths at the con, and i noticed a figure on a counter in the background of a shot that had me kind of confused and kind of excited. after much googling around i finally tracked down what it was and the person that made it and got myself one. its by david healeymade and the figure is called cave guard. its an 11" vinyl figure. im not a fan of the vinyl figure market but this one is based on probably my favorite action figure of all time guliz the ogre. i wish he wasnt cast in black because it makes it hard to see the detail. the right leg sort of looks like the clash of the titans clibos lag and the right arm sort of looks like the tubing part of the outer space men figures. there is also a tail added on.

that is wicked cool! I've been very tempted to jump into the vinyl market myself, but I've never seen this before, it might just push me over the edge. awesome score man!

that's one hell of an awesome figure. i have seen this in a variety of colors but always thought it was 3 3/4". maybe it comes in large and small versions. this guy does lots of other creative customs based on 80s properties. his MOTU wizard of Oz figures are great.
another great custom toy artist to check out is Suckadelic, he makes pretty amazing 3 3/4" custom figures based on 70s and 80s toys.
the thing i love about vinyl and custom toys is the endlessness of it; there is no definitive list of what exists. so many artists make toys nowadays it's a great creative outlet.

ive never wanted to get into the vinyl market because alot of it is so expensive and alot of it is very limited quantities and often available at certain shows and things only. i started limiting myself to 3 3/4" years ago just because there is too much stuff out there. this was a rare occasion i got something out of that scale and only because it was based on possibly my favorite figure of all time.
he does have a bunch that are all sorts of colors that are just cast resin in 3 3/4" size. suckadelic is a perfect example of what i was saying, i like alot of his older spacemen figures but its ridiculous expensive and hard to find that stuff.

how do you minimize pics? i'd love to show mine. this line is fantastic! Do you mean like re-size? I'm using this picture sharing site, mostly because it's so simple. But if you don't have a program to change picture size, many picture sharing sites have an option to change size when uploading. www.servimg.com/

If you have the photos on a disk, there should be a button somewhere on there to edit photos and you can re-size from there before downloading to something like Photobucket.

This is kind of a cool line and I used to own a few pieces from it myself. I also concede the pieces are difficult to find. But is it just me or are the prices for these items gotten absurd on the secondary market, namely ebay? I mean I have seen sellers asking $100 for a carded wizard from this line. Come on!

I assume you mean more than just this line also. I have been noticing higher than normal BIN prices for about a year now on some lines. BIN has always been high to some degree, but it is escalating out of control now.

BIN has always been high to some degree, but it is escalating out of control now. At the time of my post anyway, I was specifically talking about this line but yeah that is a trend I have noticed. Newer and seemingly easier to find lines are going higher than what you would think they should. But this is typical of retail and secondary market goings on when the economy is bad. When the economy is good, more bargains can be found as opposed to when the economy is bad. I would think it would be the exact opposite.

I have all six of the basic figures - they're survivors from my childhood collection. I thought I might try to build/expand on this line a couple years back, but they're apparently pretty trendy/popular to collect on EBay because I was shocked at the prices on most of what I found. I had figured that a little obscure line like this could be completed $5 here and there....not so....

It boggles my mind that people find these complete... EVER. The weapons are so incredibly small that there is no way I would have kept track of them as a child. Probably why they sell for the high prices that they do.
