I thought my 21st Century - The Ultimate Soldier - SF and SOG Uniform Sets included the Dutch Mini V-40 fragmentaion grenade. However recently having to unpack everything for another move - I realized it is not the case! Not even Dragon Models has the V-40 grenade.
So I decided - perhaps I can make one.
The actual V-40 mini grenade was 2.6" high and 1.6" in diameter - or about the size of a golf ball. So what would work for the body of the grenade and scale to the 12" soldier? My first thought was stick pins - you know the colorful plastic ball on the end of a pin for maps - stick pin. However the ball was 1/8" in diameter. Which is too small. Then - it occured to me - BBs! I found some Crossman BBs in a glass jar - perfect size!
I then used one of the two "fragmentation grenades" included in the The Unltimate Soldier - U.S. Navy SEAL (RECON) Uniform Set to obtain the "mousetrap" and lever arm assembly. See photos.
Next the existing "mousetrap" has to be cut in half. Then glued to the BB. See photos.
Viola - a V-40 mini grenade for my SOG onezero team leader!
All I have to do now is paint it OD green.
I am unable to upload my photos - so I will put them on photo bucket under V-40 p1 - p8

How about a link since photobucket hits me with 8 popups every time I go on it?

Some additional notes (stuff I forgot to include in my original post):
You have to cut the "mousetrap" box in half. See photo
Also I used hot melt - which needs to be put on the plastic first. If you put it on the BB first the metal will cool the beed too fast and the "mousetrap" will not stick.
I am attempting to post the links to the photos.

Finally! The link works!
For the next one - need to bend the spoon ("lever arm") to conform to the BB and leave a little bit longer.
The pull ring is approximately the same size as the grenade body - so will probably have to get some fine steel wire to make the pull ring.
Note: obviously an a craftsman with a complete tool set could do a much better job. It is my hope the top end makers of military 12" action figure gear will make the Dutch mini V40 fragmentation grenade.
