A lot of sports games, shooter games and strategy games were the main ones. I played baseball and football games to see how many runs or points I could score. I could play defense so well at one time that the other teams would not score on me and I was scoring 200 runs or 200 points a game. No Hitters or low hit games with 20 strikeouts were fairly common and in football, I generally could get a turnover before 4th down most of the time so it was a short field to get a touchdown, if it was not an interception for a TD. I played war games and Duke Nukem and some long, time consuming RPG's too. That is an odd video without sound. Ah, sports game, d'uh I sorta' forgot about sports game (due to the fact I suck badly at most of them). Sounds like you've got enough skill in that department for the both of us!! Gotta' love Duke. You play the old Apogee stuff, 3D, DNF? Or everything in between?

I have a lot of wrestling games as well as the baseball and football, but I do not always hit the multi button moves which make it difficult to win. You have to beat the computer opponent to death. I do not think I have bought any new games in the last 10 years as that was about the time the kids moved out and I graduated from playing in the living room to playing more with the computer in one pf the bedrooms converted to offices. I still have all the games and consoles and last tried to play one of the baseball games and Red Dead Revolver without much success just before we moved.

Last sports game I jammed was; I love RDR, but I hit a rut and could never get off the train. I got to the engine once, but got killed there. I have some games that I got out of the box like 5x and even with instructions could not learn to do anything with them. I would tell you what they were, but they are still in boxes from the move and I have not gotten to that series of stacks yet. Edit: I did think of one - Tom CLancy's Call of Duty. I spent most of the game laying on the ground and every time I could get to stand up 176 bullets hit me at the same time. I was dead...

After I finished 'Redemption', I stumbled across that and 'Gun' for Xbox. Didn't quite finish 'Gun'. Seeing the influence 'Revolver' and 'Gun' both had on 'Redemption' definitely made me appreciate what potential the western genre holds in modern gaming. Edit: I did think of one - Tom CLancy's Call of Duty. I spent most of the game laying on the ground and every time I could get to stand up 176 bullets hit me at the same time. (just don't ask me to coordinate a team or set up a strategic play)

(just don't ask me to coordinate a team or set up a strategic play) I may have lied too. I am not sure if Redemption or Revolver was the one I had. I think it was whichever was first. If it had a long train you had to make your way down that you played, that is the one I have. His family gets killed and he has to go through an old town, etc. I used to have a soccer game like you player. You pushed the buttons enough and the short, squat figures jumped up like they were doing a bicycle kick and they had a super hard kick that the goalie could not stop, LOL. The Atari days were super simple with baseball. As long as you hit it directly through the pitcher, and it went over the pitching rubber, it was a home run.

OMG old skool. That original Revolver game was pretty fun though, and kinda hard. I actually forgot that came before the Redemption games. Think I still got it around. Been meaning to dust off the old Max Payne games anyway, so maybe replay that one.
Yay sports. Go team.

Meanwhile, back on topic.
Over the last several days prior to today, I thought we were going to get back to the time in November 2016 when I started this thread as we got down to 2 members being on in 24 hours.
As you know, I look at numbers and things get interesting (to me at least). Going back to 1/1/18, we have had a total of 140 of the 812 members sign onto the site, which is quite deceiving. Of those, 140 members, 87 of them have 0 - 4 posts since they joined. Yes, some of them could be considered of the recent variety., but another 26 who had more than 4 posts have not posted since before 1/1/18 and there are a few more that I was not counting whose last post was in January 2018. I guess they were just checking to see if we were still breathing. So, that makes it 113 of 140 that had little to nothing to say over that time leaving us with 27 members having contributed to some degree. I seem to think the actual number of contributors is about 6 of us.
New members over that time amount to 74 members, of which only 25 have ever made a post. The most posts by a member signing up in this time span is 18 posts and then it drops to 6 posts for two other members, but neither of them have posted since March 2018. While it is good that we get several new members a month, we need their new blood (and comments) to keep this forum alive. March of next year marks 15 years for the forum and let's hope we reverse this trend and get back to the years when we had over 50 members a day signing on and commenting.

Opened the site this morning to find I had been the only one on in the past 24 hours. I do not think that has ever happened before. Hopefully it never will again.

Hmmm, well im kinda new here and im thankful for the site, its become a daily check in, i dont use any social media, unless toy and video game forums are considered social media so i cant promote that way, i sent my friend links recently hopefully he'll join, let me ask this, how can i help? i love the database feature, is that being actively worked on? thats what brought me here followed by the id marketplace. I dont know if nonmembers can see my powercon post but, in hindsight after seeing this thread, i think if people can see it that may create traffic. I think people may be googling for things like 'motu checklist' or 'bravestarr checklist' , i just tried it and this site does not come up on the 1st page of google results for motu checklist but, for bravestarr checklist this site is googles #2 suggestion, i think if this site could pop up easier via google searches that'd help but seriously i know nothing about those technical things , just sharing my thoughts as they come right now

I do not believe there has been an update to the database in some time. I cannot make any changes to it. The Admin put considerable time into it. The site does appear when you search Google about a particular line, but I believe that our diversity in figures has led to less activity. People come on to look, but there are probably few people who collect the same things that conversations continue. I like to look at collection photos just to see what people have and what is out there. At some point I should consider posting mine again. They previously were victims of the dreaded Photobucket debacle and I made the mistake of rearranging my photos another time which led to a lot of empty frames on sites. I am not sure how much interest in older wrestling figures there is here. They never got a lot of comments by anyone other than those also collecting them.

I know this is an older thread, but it seems clear to me that the problem persists.
On one hand, the forum has outer thread headers that are great and nicely organized. Also, the fact that you guys lifted the postcount requirement for certain forum areas was wise. But some areas of opportunity? Let's combine two concepts for a moment. First, this website's formatting, color scheme and layout is a bit old looking (like... honestly it's "early internet" in appearance and that's a huge turnoff). Second, the fact that millenials don't use forum spaces (those people stick to the safe spaces of their social media - where all of their "friends" can be edited, and groups are super homogenized). Gen Xers and older embraced forums. Between these two things, you've got a straight up losing combination. I've had some admin, moderator and publishing experience, and from that I can tell you that a website refresh along with maybe paying for a press release about the refresh might create some traffic and bring people back to the boards. The conversation here is a good read (when it happens) and generally speaking I haven't run into any vitriolic weirdos or those kinds of draconian internet trolls who point you to "rule threads" here. So the community here is great - when they post. But truly, the forum layout, color scheme, website design really looks like it is 2nd generation internet - like something that just came after Geosites failed. I mean seriously - this is an action figure website, yet as I type this I can see some kind of "botox video" ad linking to some chum site. Huh? I am posting this with purely constructive intent, and so far this site has been great in both conversation as well as allowing some low traffic broadcasting of an occasional sale I might be doing. Thank you for that.

Thank you for that. You will have to let me know where this "botox video" is as am not sure what you are talking about. The forum could use some refurbishing. It is the original from 2005 as I do not recall any changes to it. Unfortunately, the Admin is the only one who can make changes and his time to revamp it extremely limited. Linking would help, certainly. You should see my just about dead site. It is still the old blue and white original. I use it for storing my personal toy photos.

The botox example was a legit example from the random ads that are completely unrelated to anything in the hobby that appear immediately below the white reply box. At that time it happened to be a botox video. Now it is a series of two other banner ads for "free hosting" BS.
My point is that there's no thematic content to the ads, and between that and what I said above (and this is going to be harsh, I know) it makes this site look like a "chum site" that most people find their way too and then leave immediately. If anyone here doesn't know what a "chum" site is, just think of the worst clickbait news sites that you wouldn't normally go to, but sometimes get into after clicking on your newsfeed - where you see ads for nonsense with hot women below the articles and you sort of immediately feel like you wound up in the internets proverbial 6 blocks west of the United Center in Chicago, and it's better to just leave. Even this forums logon system is third party and glitches. You should never third party out your logins but here we are using that proboard mass login.
Lots of archaic stuff here killing the community and it's unfortunate because the "archive" nature of the site as a whole is a great idea.

I am not sure if there is any way to change the ads at the bottom. I believe they are somewhat based on things the reader supposedly has interest in, but that is not always the case. I will have to get some of these ideas to the Admin and see if he has any interest in making the changes.

LOL! Well if that's true, then they really need to be replaced because the site's bot clearly believes that two days ago I was interested in botox and today I am interested in the Endless Adventure Awaiting me by Creating My Own Community Today!
Pay a company for a site refresh, get rid of adwords and custom tracking. Get rid of 3rd party logins. Send out a press release and contact a company for advertising that is relevant to the content here (like Sideshow, we used them on an old site I was EIC and Admin of for years).
Also, maybe just go buy a new domain name to get rid of the "CA" in the URL. All of that weird stuff looks like viral, clickbait site stuff and people simply stay away from it. If we need a domain, I can probably pick up and sell a relevant name to the admin fairly cheap, to generate traffic through a more normalized URL as well.

Apparently I was previously searching for an odd way to fix sagging skin that is absolutely genius (regular ways would be sufficient) and need red shirts so that I can create a forum judging by the ads at the bottom of mine.
