This might be a sort of "if you can't beat them, join them" mentality but has anyone considered moving the forum to Facebook? I realize it kinda sucks but I recently got back on Facebook after a 7 month absence due to the fact that a bunch of the hobby info and such is being more easily accessed there. I just consider Facebook a tool, not a bunch more. I think it was supposed to bring people closer together but does it really? Anyhow, just a thought. I also realize some people might not want other forum users to see their face, know where they live, etc.

I'd say a lot of this forum's once highly active members probably do interact on Facebook now. Likely on multiple group pages, each specific to their niche interests. I couldn't follow over to a Facebook AFA forum as I never signed up to FB. A Twitter sister account I can do (wink)😉

Screw facebook! They can take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!
Also my mom said I shouldn't go on there because of all the loose women.

There is too many different items that are discussed in moderate detail here. I do not see this forum transferring well to Facebook. They would probably let people steal my information. I have never had an interest in Facebook personally.

I am also an old curmudgeon who thinks FB steals your information, just like that Trinidadian night nurse that takes money out of my wallet. I really have no interest in that either. This is sorta the last outpost here.

Why are the lights on in the first place? You young'uns wasting electricity... back in my day we only used DC power, and only to electrocute elephants!

Young'uns? I have you by at least 20 years. When I grew up we had just discovered fire and I had a a Mastadon for a pet.
You need lights so you do not ruin your eyes. Otherwise, it is like watching TV with the lights off.

Don’t poke holes in my fictional geezer accounts. They’re all I have left.
I sat 8 inches away from a 13” black & white tv and played Super Breakout for upwards of 9 hours at a clip. My eyes have been bioluminescent since 1986.

I cannot laugh at the second paragraph as I had that 13" black and white tv (it actually had a white case on the 4 sides and black controls on the front and the back was black) and I had the same breakout game that I played on it. I think I still have the game, but not the tv. The game always cheated you as you could get your paddle where it was supposed to be and it would not register it with the ball going through it if you were anywhere near the edge. I do have a 1979 4" screen tv that you can plug into the lighter of your car if they are equipped that way anymore.

I would not say that some day going to Facebook would not happen, but the Admin would have to do it. I just think topics would get splintered with all the varied interests here. Hardly anyone who drifts in here collects the same thing as the others here. There are a few that overlap between collections, but not a lot.

The worst is when you have just beaten the hell out of your controller and all it will do is slowly glide your paddle to the right. I briefly had a watchman. I always wondered if you could just hardwire a 2600 into it. Don't know why anyone would want that, but seemed like a great idea at the time. Now we have smartphones, so I guess I got my wish, in a way. I have had the controller move from one side without touching it. I messed up some 2600 controllers slamming them off the floor and I am surprised they worked. If you could have just patented that idea about the game being attached to the watchman or phone, we would be in the presence of greatness.

Last time I was on here I got all wordy and weird in the wee hours, so gave myself the brief red card (before you had to, FC) I mean it's one thing to languish in the 'off topic' sections indulging myself with bad music but condemning a complete stranger to virtual international Unclehood is probably pushing it. How's the move going anyways, FC? Are you looking to redisplay your figures as a top priority, or happy to keep 'em boxed n' archived?

Well, there's 4 more posts (including this 'un) And I'm sure I threw another 1 in the 'current listens' thread. Do you sport a beard, FC? You'll suddenly want to if not, assuming you really do moderate every post.

If you get too far off I might have to do something, but with nothing being posted, you look for anything to read. We had started moving with the purchase of the new home on October 12. Although we were not sure if the old house was going to sell as part of my father-in-law's estate, we did not have to hurry to get out. We brought over a lot of stuff on November 15 when we moved our in-home offices, cable tv, larger furniture items and changed the phone and internet over that day, but we left some cleaning materials over there along with some items we were not sure we really wanted. We finished moving the final items January 27. We put the last trash pickup out last night and the sale of the old home and my father-in-law's to the same people is scheduled for tomorrow.

I read every post, I do not necessarily listed on everything posted. I use my computer with the sound off. It started eons ago when I stayed up late playing video game well into the night while my wife slept. Except for the semi=occasional sound of the controller being slammed on the floor, it was pretty quiet. I do not have a beard and watched part of the video you posted and am glad the sound was off, LOL.

Sound is such an integral part of the atmosphere in so many games, whaddya play? I ... can't really imagine that video clip from 'The Beards' out of context without sound. Awkward.

I keep meaning to post. It’s been a crazy month and a half. What ticks me off is I had an epic reply on rihia’s listens threads, had to close my laptop, and that was the one time it wasn’t saved in editor. Thanks a ton for depriving the world of my knowledge, proboards!

A lot of sports games, shooter games and strategy games were the main ones. I played baseball and football games to see how many runs or points I could score. I could play defense so well at one time that the other teams would not score on me and I was scoring 200 runs or 200 points a game. No Hitters or low hit games with 20 strikeouts were fairly common and in football, I generally could get a turnover before 4th down most of the time so it was a short field to get a touchdown, if it was not an interception for a TD. I played war games and Duke Nukem and some long, time consuming RPG's too. That is an odd video without sound.
