Just trying to unlock the trade section I do agree that if ProBoards (or any forums really) hosted pix people would post a lot more. I never do anything from my phone, but Photobucket is a PITA. Even years before it slowed down here, I had stopped posting on ThundercatsLair.org and He-Man.org. Just got bored. I'm also a member at LGR, but never did post much. Just wanted to finish my Remco wrestlers and MUSCLES collection really.

The trade section is locked for the attempted protection of the members, as I am sure you are aware, but it is to get the newer members involved. No one wants scammers to come on and make deals, then cheat members out of funds/figures. All we can do is ban a scammer. Did you finish the Remco wrestlers and MUSCLES collections?

I really enjoy this site. I'm one of the newer members but I lurked for years. There are many reason I don't contribute and most have been said. It's not for a lack of not wanting to, it's mostly I've said all that I've been able to say. Also due to financial reasons and family situation, I cut back immensely on collecting. I only collect Dinosaucers stuff anymore because so little is readily available that I can Space purchases out and other than the items being hard to find, it's easy to manage.
Time is the biggest issue. I don't frequent most the sites that I used. It's just hard to juggle between work, home and social life.
I'll start trying to come on board more. I'd probably pop on more if there was more activity. I don't know that there is one "fix" for this though.

Maybe reaching out to volunteers who might write about toys, or toy lines?
Also maybe giveaways or games with prizes?
I wish I could bring in some new information on toys that weren't covered yet.

You might want to take a look at some of the collections and comment on them if something in there interests you. Time is always a factor.

A few years ago there were some people here writing about their favorite items on the main page, but many, like me, saved the logon page rather than going through it to get on. There were also games when I first started and if anyone wants to run one, feel free. I do not have anything much to contribute as far as prizes. One site had people make customs based on a theme monthly, but it eventually died out.

FYI: The "Submit an article" link on the main page is broken. It gives this message:
Error!
CuteNews detected that you do not have users in your users.db.php file and wants to run the install module. However, the install module (./inc/install.mdu) can not be located, please reupload this file and make sure you set the proper permissions so the installation can continue.

Sadly, times are a changing. For quite a few years Facebook is the place to be when talking or trading toys. For most people it is just easier with the use of smartphones just to snap a quick pic and post it to your favorite toy groups.
Myself I am not really a fan of Facebook groups for collecting toys. Most I have tried are poorly moderated and I really just don't enjoy them. My collecting has gone down over the years but I do agree, I just don't find stuff I need as much anymore. Of course my collecting interest has fallen over the years, but I still am on the lookout for pieces to fill out holes in my collection, mostly on Ebay. These seem to be few and far between though.
I appreciate anyone who posts reference links to this site in their Facebook posts. I don't think we will ever get back to the user numbers we once had. A massive marketing campaign like when I first started the site would help out I am sure though I just don't have the time to dedicate for that anymore. I will always keep up this site and forum as it is one of the best action figure references out there. Sadly though it seems most use it simply for reference and do not partake in discussion here as much as they used to. Time for me is huge as well with work and a family I haven't really been using any website collecting forums for a number of years now.

For some odd reason, around November of last year I fell into a funk and didn't come out of it for months so I missed this thread. So what happened? Did everything get fixed?
Part of the problem I think is that the site tends to mainly show up in search results for some pretty niche stuff. That can be a little intimidating for people who maybe imagine an air of snobbery that doesn't exist, or perhaps it makes the active community seem like a bunch of basement creeps with shelves full of dusty Galaxy Warriors. It wouldn't be apparent to me just happening upon the forums that mainstream stuff is also talked about here. The subforums could be divided up a bit better, for one. I mean, you could have probably an entire forum just for GI Joes or just Transformers or just Marvel or just Star Wars and drop the delineation between vintage and modern entirely. Sticky threads that anyone can just jump in and post in--e.g., "post your recent finds" and things like that tend to be big draws.
The main site could also use an overhaul. If anyone could just post a review on the front page like Collection DX, that could be pretty sweet. Then you at least have new content coming on the front page and that alone will get some fresh blood in here and also stimulate some action on the forums.

It seems like we are down to about 5 - 6 people who come on just about every day and then a few others who come once in a while.
Some numbers:
We had 147 different people have come on the site in 2017 through today, 67 of which were new members joining. Not all of the new members made comments, obviously.
Those who have 20 or more posts (lifetime) total 51 of the 147, of which 30 have made comments since 1/1/17. It's not quite indicative of a forum with 741 registered members.

The photobucket disaster seems to have sucked out whatever life was left here. To be honest, there is little point in trying to keep the board alive when the folks running it can't be bothered to upload a few new photos to keep it from looking like a ghost town for any prospective new members or returning old members. It really looks like crap anymore. Sorry to be blunt.

I was in contact with the admin some time back about other issues, but have not see where he has been on. I as trying to get the Marketplace open to all members rather than just the ones who have been here an participated, but it may be moot since we have few days where more than the 5 - 6 core members who come every day come on. I will see if I can get with him again.

I did spend $60-70 on underpants that lift and separate your junk based on ads I followed from a figure site. Maybe it showed up because men need drawz and grown ass men are by and large the primary consumers of action figures that are talked about online. Or maybe it's because all our heroes wear European bikini briefs, occasionally in lieu of all other clothing and sometimes over their yoga pants. All I know is that now when I read about action figures I can't stop thinking of banana hammocks worn by well endowed gentlemen.
...and these bad boys ride up like nobody's business. Bastards got my money.
Trew storey.
