As a kid in the 80s you could walk down the toy isle and on either side there was gonna be great toys from top to bottom! Now a days the toys isles are kind of a joke in my opinion. I would like to get everybody's opinion on what was your favorite toys from the 80s and why??? I played with everything I could get my hands on as a kid big into motu and gijoe. But some of my favorites were supernaturals I loved the holograms and the play set was super cool. Also loved food fighters I would make them battle my barnyard commando's lol. But there was a D&k store that sold cheap toys and knock off toys and I got all of my underworld warriors there and as a kid any figure that resembled a skeleton was just the cream of the crop in my book! So let's hear it guys what are your thoughts and opinions........

Well considering my collecting priority is Transformers I'll go with them
As for why? They just appeal to me I guess.

For me its GI Joe, When I was young I remember watching the tv commercial and wanted all the figures, this is my favorite 80s toyline because of it I started collecting action figure since 2 years now.

I would have to say Remco's Crystar because when I sold off a bunch of vintage era figures years ago I still kept a hold of the Crystar figures I had. Why? I think I liked the opaque designs of the crystal warriors and the dragons. Plus, since Crystar has never been re-made like quite a few of the lines from back then it is sort of a line that still reminds of that era only.

I really don't think I can pick a specific one, partially because a lot of lines I love were pretty small and might of only had a handful of figures. I love dragonriders of the styx and crystar, but not sure I can pick one of those when g.i.joe and star wars had hundreds of figures. second even as a kid I only got 3 3/4" figures because if everything wasn't in scale with each other it bothered me. and since everything WAS in scale with each other I very rarely played with a toyline as a specific property. 99% of the time me and my friends had whole other characters and themes we made up ourselves that we played and everything mixed together. oddly, and I don't know why this was, but we usually played things based off movies we liked that didn't have toys instead of playing the movies and shows we liked that we actually had the toys for.
so in a way my answer would have to just be 3 3/4", that was my favorite toyline.

There was a bunch of great toylines at the time. My collecting centered around He-man in the early 80s and Transformers in the later part.
I'm probably like alot of people here and have alot of interest in the K.O.'s of those two lines now.

That is pretty much my main focus now as well as far as my motu collection I only need a few pieces to complete it and they are just way to expensive, so I got pretty heavily into the ko's

Remco Warrior Beasts for me. I just love the design of their 5.5" figures and the dino head sculpts are so fun.

I'd have to say we were very VERY lucky kids in the 1980's. We had so many toy lines to choose from. I personally had GI Joe, Transformers, M.A.S.K., and GoBots that I recall being really into, The other lines I didn't even really have since a kid only has so much money! My personal favorite would have to be the M.A.S.K. line since i really liked the toys but the show wasn't very good not that I cared about the shows for any of those toy lines my imagination (and the fact my parents had the full cable package HBO, Showtime, Cinemax....) did the rest! =)
I still collect Transformers MP, and GI Joe modern figures for display purposes.

Imperial's 1984 "DRAGONS, KNIGHTS AND DAGGERS". I also love their 1983 line of fantasy animals. I think those two are my top favorites.

It was always motu for me, specifically the villains. The fantasy element always was my favorite, and they had kick arse toys and vehicles!
I do love quite a bit of many other toy lines from the 80's but nothing quite so much as Master of the Universe, I mean Skeletor and Scare Glow, what more can you possibly want as a kid in 1985?
I loved the AD&D cartoon as well but let's face it the toys were not great, except for fortress of fangs and tiamat.
There are still great toys today, marvel legends and universe are pretty amazing and I wish I was a kid in this the heyday of super hero movies and toys, not all are hits but most are better than the TMNT movies I grew up with, Vanialla Ice! Really?
LOL.
Cheers, SIN.......

Sooooo hard to say. I discovered Gundam models at my local bookstore in the late 80s. They didn't have a huge amount of play value because stuff was always falling off or thin little brittle pieces would snap, but the features and articulation and customization and detail made them the toys that really clicked with me deeply.

I loved TMNT since I first saw them when I was about 4 years old. I just really loved the simple desgins of the turtles and the crazy elaborate desgins of the villains. Thunder cats were great too though I only had Lion-o Panthro and Mumm-Ra, even my mom liked Mumm-Ra. She still brings up when I got Mumm-Ra for my birthday lol I think she wanted it as much as I did. I never had any MOTU cause I never saw them in the toy stores my mom would take me to. My first and only He-Man figure was from the new adventures which my mom surprised me with one day after work which I politely thanked her for but really had no interest in. I don't think my dad ever got me any toys other than a couple PlayStation games in high school. Now I'm hooked on MOTU and all the Sungold knock offs. I really like how they kept reusing the same bodies but with different heads and paint applications to make a huge multiverse of figures and figure lines.

Another guy with G.I. Joe obsession here. I didn't have many brands at that time, but I wasn't in need though. Just played all kinds of stuff with them. Actually there was another that I loved but had not much access to the sets: Zero Hour / Code Zero. Those were like mini-Joes with awesome vehicles (I think vehicles are really a major part in any action figure line) and were proportional with Transformers and Dinosaurs from that time. I did not need other reasons.

As an 80s kid, I grew up loving Masters of the Universe, but as fun as they were to play with...the love for that line eventually wore off and The Real Ghostbusters took its place. Something about those Ghosbusters toys made them really fun to play with and they were easy to display into scenes to act out stuff.

Yeah guys/girls I know it as a bit of a opened ended question and its so hard to just pick one, cause I played and collected everything I could get my hands on be it from the store or garage sales or what have you, so much so that now in my thirties I've gone back and purchased everything I wanted as a kid and never had and even went one step further and now make my own action figures..... Very fun hobby underworldcustoms if anybody is interested... Thanks to all who take the time to post on my thread! Keep collecting!!!!!!

I had the first few lines that came out. I didn't play with them as much as just look at them they were all really interesting characters and the art was classic. I was going through my collection a few weeks ago and I apparently had only one or two survivors out of the army of musclemen that I once had. I'll hang on to my lone survivor!

Well, I´m brazilian, born in 1984... I had (and still have) a lot of He-Man, Rambo, and lots and lots of Comandos em Ação (brazilian name for the G.I. Joes)... I miss those days, man! Got some solo figures too, like Jiraya, Jiban, Jaspion... Happy childhood.
