I know a few board members are into these, I also own a number of the vehicles and a few figures. Not really to hardcore buying these on Ebay, but have been thinking about it. Found a website with some Sears and Montgomery Wards catalog scans of Micronauts. www.dazolgames.com/catalogs.html

Micronauts don't seem to get much attention here, and yet I know of several members with at least a passing interest in them (myself included). I always loved the Micronauts I had as a kid, but I coveted some things I saw in the leaflets even more. Supplies around here always seemed to be very limited and I never had the chance to own most stuff. I was never a great one for playsets, even as a kid, but the one thing I always wanted was the Micronauts Rocket Tubes. The tiny pictures on the leaflet I had made this look like the best toy ever. Does (has) anyone actually own(ed) a Rocket Tubes set? Is it really any good or is it better keep as a childhood fantasy? Here's a few more links for the un-converted ;D www.innerspaceonline.com/newhome.htmwww.micro-outpost.com/www.microforever.com/microheritage_micronauts.htm

I kind of avoided collecting them for a while as well, I loved the few I had as a kid, but I felt a little deflated after the Palisades re-issue didn't live up to my (high) expectations. Kinda took he shine off for a time.
Also, I think availability in the UK may have been a little eratic, or at least it was around here, so there doesn't seem to be that much variety show up on UK ebay.

Yeah, they show up in waves over here too. I'll only buy bigger lots of these. The individuals tend to go a little higher. Like the aliens, i've seen an individual alien go for $30-$40. Then a lot that will have several of them, plus a ton of misc. pieces will go for $20-$25. Bulk is always the way to go, but the crap does pile up fast.

I recently bought this in a big lot and I'm quite happy with it. A big thankyou to Gort for helping me I.D. it. You're the best, man Venefic dragon steed from GIGs Fantanauti line Like a close cousin or clone to Micronauts, only made with a fantasy theme rather than sci-fi.

i love micronauts they were initialy sold in japan as mini henshin cyborgs denys fisher cyborg and muton in uk,and eventualy led to the transformers.
they seem to be quite hard to find but not hugely expensive when you do,
everyone i know who owns the rocket tubes was hugely disapointed-apparently they just dont work!

I picked up a Hornetroid this weekend at the MB ComicCon, it is easily one of the coolest Micronauts vehicles produced. Only missing its top gun (hit me up if anyone has a spare!). www.innerspaceonline.com/hornet.htmLove the Dragon BTW Ghouldrool

I have this one. Looks like it's the same gun. It has both projectiles, only in black, not in red.

These Microman Hoodman paintings that were publsihed in "TV Magazine" in the 70's. Certainly some of my favorite things that I own. I have some more by a different artist that I will post later...

I've been mostly into the figures. The only vehicle I had as a kid was the star searcher. Baron Karza, Space Glider, and Time Traveller were always my favorites. The original Marvel series was great. I recently read the Time Traveller Trilogy. It was alright.

Yeah collecting the vehicles and playsets can be a daunting task, especially with all the little parts they came with and finding them complete. The best vehicles in the line came later in the final series.
Never read the Marvel comics, though my brother did have a big stack of them.

I had read that Palisades were planning on retooling the line based on the characters featured in the Marvel series(ie, 3 3/4" scaled versions of Baron Karza & Force Commander). In fact, the series 1.5 Space Glider was repainted to resemble Arcturus Rann. I had also read that when Hasbro got the Marvel license, the Micronauts came with the deal and the big H were kicking around the idea of doing comic 2 packs similar to the Star Wars & GI Joe stuff. That would be cool.

Is this the only thread on Micronauts? If there are more can someone direct me? I am becoming somewhat obsessed with this line.

There is not many here who talk about inner space. I have a bunch of parts to trade and need a few more time travelers to complete my set...what have you got in your collection?

I am somewhat embarrassed to say that I don't have any of the figures, hehe. I used to have all of the Lords of Light growing up, in fact they were probably my favorite toys but finding them is proving to be near impossible and there is little interest in them that I can tell. After doing some research I found out that the Lords of Light were actually the antecedents of a line that I never even heard of: The Micronauts. I now can see the similarities between the two lines and which figures the Lords of Light descended from (barring Emperor Dementia, no idea where he came from lol). Suffice it to say, I am becoming more and more interested in the Micronauts, specifically the clear time travelers and the aliens since they most closely resemble the toys I had as a child. I realize that Micronauts are not the cheapest line to acquire but unlike Lords of Light they are at least available. The fact that I don't have any of the figures yet does not stop me from being obsessed, mind you. I have read as much information as I can get my eyes on about these guys.

Whooops! Well now time like the present to start!
I got my first micronaut when I was about 5ish (1977). It was a clear time traveler. Soon after I got a blue one and the battle cruiser. I have loved micronauts ever since. They are still the best 3 3/4 figures around. I have most of the figures...never got into the arcoyear guys though. In the 80s I got the bad guys, all of them except for antron.
I was amazed many years later to be walking through a giant panda (= to toys r us in Canada in the late 80s) and see the cosmoman / interchangeable line. I picked up a few things the best of which were the time travelers in different colors.
The palisades line (resent rehash) was a disgrace...they asked a fan to help design some new parts for alot of the figures. All of which were stupid. They also made a mess with making way to many color variations, making the line have a massive assortment...the worst part was the quality. I remember breaking two different micronauts just trying to get them out of the package!!!! Only if they had just thought it through a bit...less assortment, less parts and then the best quality....but no such luck...

I have read about the re-release and liked some of the concepts but I think the general consensus was as you wrote: a disappointment. The reviews I read about them complained about the grade of plastic being much weaker than the originals. No toy should break right out of the package! From what I saw on Innerspaceonline I suppose a few of them looked cool, mostly the ones that kept very close to the originals. Didn't like the gold headed variants, etc.. I wouldn't mind having the yellow Membros though tbh. Out of curiosity, which ideas did you dislike in particular? Since I didn't originally collect these guys I am less in tune with the original vibe of this line. For instance, I like the colors of the medic guy but I can see how someone who played with these back in the day may not enjoy something like this unless of course it was a character from the comic or something. It's too bad they failed at the re-release because of something as silly as cheap plastic since it really looked like a promising line.

I just finished looking at all the palisades re-release stuff to refresh my memory. Besides the issue of the weak plastic I just didn't get that "retro" feeling from the new figures except maybe a couple. I still like the Medic guy and some of the clear time travelers and aliens as they seem to me to have that "70's" look which really appeals to me. A lot of the other figures, however, like the heavy glow stuff and the super multi-colored or floating flake figures just don't look retro to me at all. They remind me of burger king toys in their color schemes and glitzy-ness. They just didn't make stuff that looked like that back in the 70's. What I think would have been cooler would have been to just make some minor changes like maybe a whole rainbow of colors for the time travelers in transparent and opaque and possibly some colored chrome variations. If its meant to be retro I feel it should keep in tune with what was available/popular/stylish back then. I still do like a handful of them very much though. The Medic, yellow Membros, purple Repto, and all of the Pharoids all seem very attractive but if they are going to break that's discouraging.

I have always liked the Time Travelers from Micronauts. Something about the clear plastic and chrome. Here is my small set where I am trying to get 4 of each (one for each chest-plate in each color) of the original run as well as all 4 opaque and 4 interchangeable. I still need a few things as you can see. I do have a bunch more of these guys but they are incomplete, broken or have poor chrome. There are 4 different types of chest-plates seen above on the orange Time Travelers (log cabin, radio dial, volt meter & window panes). These also were made in 4 colors; gold, yellow, chrome and blue (some people say there are green ones but I have never seen any yet?) I have a near complete set except for 2 blues (radio and volt meter). Some other micronauts shots:

Dude, love the Aliens! Your army of Time Travelers rocks as well! I have been wanting a clear orange time traveler with a log cabin chest plate but am not picky about condition as long as all the parts are there. Are you interested in selling/trading any of the heavy chrome wear guys? No pressure. I am very excited that there is someone else on here who likes these guys!

Oh man, did you freak? I've had some of my stuff get broken and while I appear calm on the outside I'm sick on the inside lol. I've got a trade thread but I've also got a couple of flea market find threads that are pretty recent in which most everything is available for trade. The two shark figures are not up for trade is all. I should have some new stuff after this weekend too. Any type of stuff you are looking for in particular?

I don't quite understand the high prices of the Palisades figures on Ebay. They are cool and all but not nearly vintage enough in my opinion to fetch such high price tags. I do however see the same ones month after month not selling. 80s AF, how much were they when they released them if you remember?

if you look you will see that there are a few guys trying to sell them at really high prices. some of those figures have been re-listed dozens of times. when they came out i bought a case of each wave (which ment you got one of each figure in each color with no doubles). the figures looked ok but i broke a few just trying to get them out of the package, so beware the Palisades make sure they are not broke and if cant tell by the photo ask about them being broken or if they have cracks anywhere... as far as prices they were about $10 each or so when i bought them. keep watching you will see others come on ebay for way less...hold out for lots and get them at even lower prices. right now there seems to be a shortage of micronaut auctions. and lords of light? i have seen about 3 auctions for those in 10 years. i dont really watch for them but i do scan all the mirconauts auctions and just never see them......
