From what I have read, this third wave of POTA figures are probably going to be the line's last hurrah and after months of rumors as to who was getting these as an exclusive I found out today that they have been relegated to being a 2015 SDCC exclusive and I walked into a Hastings store today and these were the first things to catch my eye. The price per stung a bit but I figured I better get them since their distribution will no doubt be limited.

For all intent and purposes, this line seems to be done. You can consider me shocked. It blows me away this line didn't at least sell enough to survive. I wouldn't expect it to sell like Star Wars but the figures are so well done it's a shame.

I think they're great. I got the single gorilla soldier and the TRU 2-pack and they all look amazing (the sub machine gun from the 2-pack doesn't fit well into the hands though). I also want the generals. Maybe Caesar and the Conquest jumpsuit guy also. The original release gorilla looks so good with his pouch bandolier that I would definitely pick up more at a good price.
Very disappointing that there won't be any more, but I'm glad NECA takes the plunge and just puts out figs that are not big moneymakers seemingly as a labor of love. Same thing happened with Evil Dead and I'm sure a few other licenses that were much sought after.
As an afterthought, it was a weird idea to only do Chuck Heston in the Mego style. I won't seek him out actively but I do want the soldier in the 8" scale. Within the past couple months I've got a couple NECA Megos and I'm really happy with them. Iron Maiden Eddie in the classic strait jacket looks really good and I also got Snake Plissken. Kurt's features are fairly soft but it translates well, it's a pretty good likeness, and the accessories are cool... plus the snake tat on the abdomen is a nice touch. Did you go for anything in the POTA 8" line?

Did you go for anything in the POTA 8" line? I wasn't necessarily planning on buying any of the 8" figures because I thought the 7" figure line would have a longer future that would include a Taylor or even multiple versions of Taylor and at $20 a pop I couldn't spring for $30 each for the 8 inchers. Once all indicators were pointing towards doom for the line my attitude towards the 8" figures changed drastically and I bought both Neca released. The only thing released in conjunction with the line I haven't bought is the Lawgiver Statue and I was even thinking of getting that when all of a sudden Entertainment Earth said it was cancelled although I have seen pictures of people's collections that include the statue so I am sorta confused on that one. I don't know if Neca has given the official word that this line has been axed but sometimes you don't need to see a body to know something is not alive anymore, if you get my meaning.

The price tag is a bit much for the Mego style figs, but again I'm glad they made them. Taylor looks frankly a little too good from what I've seen, but I could defo use a gorilla to go with my other 8" aliens and monsters.
The Lawgiver statue must have gotten out there. I've seen it too.
I definitely want to put a little army together. I don't have kids to drain our bank account, so I'm going for it!
Edit: and right after I posted that a guy on ebay accepted my offer on the statue and all the regular series figures plus a couple extra soldiers complete and loose for all in under $200. Pretty decent price imo.

I'm still saddened this line didn't take off. It will probably be years before we get another quality line of apes.
I did end up getting the 8" soldier. I do like him a lot. NECA has a pretty good track record with their retro figures.

Super 7 is showing unpainted POTA ReAction prototypes at SDCC. The sculpting looks pretty good! As unimpressed as I've been with ReAction in general, this one makes sense to me. Supposedly coming out this winter, and General Urko is missing from this showing.
