Playmobil has been around for a long time but it is not as popular as LEGO. I have loved Playmobil ever since a buddy of mine had several cowboys and indians when we were growing up. I have a few smaller sets from around high school, and have picked up a few Castle and pirate sets at discount store in recent years. Usually I buy the smaller sets with a figure and few weapons and accessories. Im am a casual collector of this stuff, but recently I bought a few blind bags at Tuesday Morning for 99cents. Kinda wants to make me get some more eventually. One major question I have for everyone is:
Does anyone here on AFA collect Playmobil? AND does anyone know a good site that has a database of sets? There was one up awhile ago, but theyre database has been "down for maintenance for quite some time.
I will post some pics of my Playmobil over the next few days/weeks.
and I encourage others to do so as well!

as strictly a collector of 4" figures I have long loved playmobil for all the cool accessories and play sets that are just slightly small for my needs but work fine. great variety I have always wondered why its not more popular or known with kids here.

My son has some ImagiNext toys. I like their cartoon and superhero stuff. I was recently looking at their medieval fantasy offerings and did not really care for how they are designed. These Playmobil figures are quite nice in comparison. I'm gonna have to check them out. Thanks for posting. I'd like some 4" figures to make my 5" stuff look like giants

I only have a few pieces, because of drastic money woes, but I have a huge amount of the fantasy and magic items on my want list. Like that wizard castle lair thingy? That's awesome. Anyhoo, one of my favorite pieces is the Viking sea serpent set. Sorry I don't have a fancy photo taken yet, just my blah stock photo. *edit* Aw heck, I'm just going to post my other favorites and get it out of the way, as I won't be able to resist coming back with them. Again, just ugly stock photos. I love the vikings, they're so cute. This is a little viking set with a throne. This was a mixed bag I got at a garage sale, much cheaper than finding these pieces on ebay! Here's some single sold pieces (you can buy the magic tree and crystal prison seperately). A wizard, a castle ghost, a AWESOME tree goblin, magic tree, crystal dungeon, and the really vintage castle dragon.

Nice stuff! I found this adult collector club website that tells about the history and appears to have a pretty comprehensive catalog of pictures of Playmobil box sets: www.collectobil.com/

Picked this up on a whim at Toys R Us for $5 (set 4768). I just got it for the knight figure, which I have to say is pretty nice. Playmobil figures are 3" tall, so they're not really compatible with much. But they do make my 5-6" figures look like giants/gods which is what I was looking for. I really like how Playmobil is able to maintain some level of realistic detail in an appropriately cartoony style for young children. I noticed some knight figures seem to come with clip on armor for the arms. I like that this ones arms are molded with armor. Other nice touches: the visor opens/closes and they have chain mail "hair" that the helmets go over.

I'm from Germany and every kid has these. I really like the lines from my childhood and before that. So basically everything from '74 to like '92. I collected them lose for a long time but sold everything a couple years ago because Playmobil is really addicting and so much stuff to collect. If I ever feel to "play" with Playmobil, I visit a friend who lives only a few miles aways from the Playmobil German HQ & Theme Park, grab his kids and we go there and have fun

At last...
I was getting disappoint that there was no thread about my favorite Playmobil!!!!!!
I'm big fan of Playmobil toys!!!
Back on 2012 when i stop to collect action figures, I began collecting Playmobil. It was much cheaper from figures.... I has already some set from my childhood and i want some sets more.... But as the figures, the one brings a second,a second brings a third etc...
The result... I start with my own 50 playmobil figures, and now my collection has about 2,000 + figures!!!
I like to customizing figures,to take photos and make dioramas.
Here's you can see some of my work.... Retroplaymoland
I'm also member on the official Playmobil Collectors Club (PCC) and also on 2 playmobil forums, one is International and one is German.
I don't know if i can to mention them with names...
Well...I think that this became my favorite thread!!!
Friendly Steve

OH WOW! Albrecht Durer is one of my favorite artists, I might have to look into that one, though it sounds like it might be hard to find.

A few days ago (last Wednesday) PLAYMOBIL head Horst Brandstätter died on 3 June 2015 at the age of 81 years, only a few weeks before his 82 birthday. You can read more HERE.
R.I.P. Mr. Horst Brandstätter....
