I received an email from Entertainment Earth advertising the upcoming figures from ReAction. What a novel idea, doing figures in the old Kenner style. Also, they are giving fans of some 80s films that never had toys a chance to, even if it's only one figure. There wasn't anything in particular that personally struck my fancy in this first batch although if I could afford them, I wouldn't mind getting the Alien figures. I saw news on the internet of upcoming lines from ReAction and I must say I'll probably be all over their Universal Monsters figures. The price of $9.99 each probably isn't all that bad, it could probably be worse! They could really blow the top off of my head if they made figures from the original Star Trek tv series . An Indiana Jones line from them might be cool as well.

I would LOVE an original Star Trek series retro line! Also, if they were to make Big Trouble in Little China figures, my head would explode as well.
As for the Reaction figures I've seen so far, they seem just slightly too cartoony for me. Case in point- Snake Plissken, (the figure I was most looking forward to) looks too cartoony in the face. I get that they're supposed to be retro, but Snake's face reminds me of those Clerks Jay & Silent Bob figures. I get that they're retro, but I wish the sculpts were closer to Alien or even Star Trek the Motion Picture figures that were simple & retro, just not cartoony.
I'm wondering if licensing is an issue since the Arnold Terminator figures look pretty rough in the face too. Maybe Schwarzenegger & Kurt Russell were charging too much for their likeness?
The Universal Monsters ones look pretty cool, but I feel like they're re-inventing the wheel since Remco already covered this (and nailed it).
Either way this an exciting and clever concept, I can't wait to see where it goes. I bet people who don't normally buy toys will be buying up some of these like the Goonies figures.

I like the concept as well, did they say anything about using old molds for figures that were never produced or are they going to be creating all new molds for figures?

I believe they're all new sculpts, (with the exception of Alien of course).
The line just seems all over the map. I was looking at the Firefly figures, and while some are pretty dead-on like Jane & Zoe, others like Kaylee look pretty rough.
I'm interested to see the final product.

I haven't seen pics of their Monsters figures yet, but I'm interested in finding those pics. For me, it isn't so much the figures themselves but the subject matter they're covering so far. While I like some of the movies they're doing figures from I didn't love the movie(s)enough to want figures from them. Unless they get some stronger sources to draw from, I wonder how long these will last.

Wow I've seen the Alien figures, but I didn't know they had so many different licenses... and $9.99 is a good price. Why aren't the Alien figures $9.99 too?

When I first read about this a few months ago, I was very excited about the idea. I know that the point is to make sculpts that look like they came out of the same time period as the Kenner Alien prototypes. With a lot of these re-action figures, there is something not right with the proportions and detail. There seems to be too much focus on the worst of the '80s instead of the best . Most Reaction figures seem to have toes pointed outward, big hands and heads, skinny limbs and boxy, un-natural upper torsos. The Universal Monster figures look better and it is cool that we can now add a few more characters to the original line-up by Remco. Those originals are still really cool to me so I don't see a reason to buy new versions of Dracula, Frank. Monster, Mummy, etc. I also really like the chrome t-800 terminator . That is something new to this scale as it was previously grey or darker grey.

Since ReAction has opened the door, even if only temporarily, for entertainment properties of the past I was thinking today of figures I would like to see them make like from the Addams Family, the Munsters, Outer Space Men, etc. I doubt anything I think of will ever actually get made, but I guess I can at least daydream if nothing else.

Like you mentioned earlier Spockoda, my dream line would be a Classic Trek Retro line. However, I would want it to be a huge line with all kinds of obscure characters and red shirts!

After having a look at many of the figures, they look more like a figure that was put out in the 90s rather than the 80s. I think it is the head sculpts that make them look that way.

I'm not And why 4(!) different Predators? Why not just one, with a removable mask, and a mouth that could open/close? And then the "invisible" one in the same mold. I don't get that either. Four Predators seemed like overkill. I'd rather have a single Predator and some Arnie, Carl Weathers and Jessie Ventura figures to go along with it! I love this concept, and $9.99 is an excellent price point for a niche line like this. I think I'll get Mary and Doc BTTF figures and possibly The Rocketeer. I'd love to see The Road Warrior/Mad Max films get this treatment at some point.

I pre-ordered all 8 Universal Monsters and Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Kreuger. I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on them !

I shall be purchasing Sarah Conner, most of the Back to the Future selection and probably give in and get the Universal Monsters figures too (because that's what i need, more Creature from the Black Lagoons in my house, but he's just such an irresistible Gill Man). When/if they do the Buffy ones they're supposed to be up to, I'll no doubt be down for those too, except maybe human Oz, something's always bugged me about having a Seth Green figure... probably because something just bugs me about Seth Green, and if they do his Wolfy form, I shan't need one. but I do agree that they're a strange style, proportion-wise, they actually remind me the most of the Tales from the Cryptkeeper figures...

I like the Universal monsters. Some of the others are pretty cool, but dont really look Kenner-ish enough, IMO. (My guess is the old Kenner look is what they're trying to achieve.)
I'll like to see them get ahold of Battlestar Galactica, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers (if no one already has the property in that scale), and Clash of the Titans; expand them past the original offerings.
I would really like to see these kind of figures in the toy section of a Kroger. I bet they would sell pretty well at less than 10 bucks.

Kurt Russel never got enough action-figures in my opinion, that just ain't rite. I mean Kevin Costner's Waterworld? Robin William's Hook? But no BTILC or Escape from New York. So I'm down for a Plissken, or two, no matter how terrible the sculpt. (or how much the international shipping hurts) Ow.

And some of the aliens as well. If I had my own figure company, I would try to make this happen. I can't believe the only 3 3/4" figures ever made of the original crew are from the first movie.

Are the humans from Alien gonna be sold seperately? Everywhere I've looked only has them as a group. Really just want Ripley and the Alien.
I wasnt aware Classic Trek has never had 3 3/4 figures....that definately needs to be fixed.

Classic Trek has had every scale pretty much from 5 inch to 12 inch, but only the one line from Mego in the 3 3/4" scale.

I saw the ReAction Alien figures in the flesh for the first time today and I liked them. They really do remind you of vintage Kenner Star Wars figures definitely.

The Alien figure itself was awesome. The Dallas figure reminded me of the Bespin Security Guard and the Kane reminded me of Dengar.

Would really like to see them get some of the Harryhausen related properties like Clash of the Titans and Sinbad.
Any of these gonna be making their way into toyrus?

I picked up a couple of the Alien ones about a month back or so - Ripley and the Alien. I really do like them, the cardbacks are cool to. Got them in a store when I was in Vegas so it was nice to not have to pay to have them shipped up here.

I opened a few of mine. The alien hangs from the tail pretty well. The skull dome doesn't snap on so I sometimes leave it off. I wish it really did have glow in the dark details like the package states. I wonder if that note was from an original package design and that is why it was not removed for the Reaction line.
In March, I ordered a chrome t-800 terminator and a few Pulp Fiction characters.

Really bummed out, and I haven't even gotten around to buying them yet Have you tried exposing the alien to light, like a lamp, before you turn off the light?

The dome will rest on the skull well enough but it falls off when the figure moves. Yes ,I tried all types of light (sun, light-emitting-diode,incandescent, halogen, fluorescent, black-light). But I had my suspicions just by looking at the paint. It would have had to have been some new technology for such a dull color to glow. Still my favorite new toy purchase for 2013.

Sucks more about the dome, though. Guess I'll try and put some clear tape around the edges, so it will sit tighter. And maybe paint over the 'non-glow' parts, if it's even possible to find glow-in-the-dark paint. But thanks for the reply! :-)

I have some ral partha glow in the dark paint, so I know they make it. If you use super glue there's a chance it will cloud up the entire dome on the inside,so use a dab of modeling glue to keep the dome on.
