I was wondering how rare the Dread Commander and Dread Trooper figures are. I never see them anywhere and can't even find pics of them. I think I have only seen one of them come up on Ebay in the last year or so. Anyone got iny ino? Check out the Captain Power figure gallery on the main site here www.action-figures.ca/captain_power.htm

At least this confirms that they were actually produced.

Strange, it should have been stamped Mattel somewhere. It may have been a European release. I know the Sauron Beam Deflector was also a European release. I have scans at home of a Mattel 1987 catalog I will have to check.

not that i know of ,mind i aint seen any european bases (these not a lot of info oh them ,just the main first few years ?), if it hels the 2 parts separat (cab trailer type ) and the cab is fee wheeling ,but the trailer is friction driven ,also the gun rotates and it moves . the cab ,under the "wings" at the side of c ockpit has a blue missile ? on each which can come off . definitly a strange one

I checked the catalog scans and it doesn't show that vehicle anywhere. I will have to post a link to them.

So which Cpt. Power vehicles were sold in Europe only? There seems to be a few of them.

There are some vehicles, playsets and ships that I am unsure of. Which ones were produced in Europe only? Were there any of these that were not produced at all (but shown in the catalog link above)? This is my take on it, LMK if I'm wrong on anything

I think most of those you listed were not sold in the US. From the pictures I've seen online, I've never seen any of those with boxes only in English(other than the main US vehicles you listed). I'm not sure if they were strictly European though. A few of those I've never even heard of :?

I have a feeling that maybe most of them that were listed in the catalog stands were never produced. Maybe some of our European members will know?

Somebody had sent me an email a few months back with their breakdown of what Captain Power items were European released only. Sadly I lost the email a few days later when I re-installed my operating system and can't remember who it was. If whoever it was reads this, can you please re-send me the info or post it in this thread, thanks.

Production Dread Trooper and Commander don't exist. There are prototypes, sure, but there are also prototypes of the toys that were released. I don't really expect to ever find the prototype for the XT7 on eBay, much less the one prototype for the Dread Trooper! Here are the toys that had prototypes but never made it into production: (1) Dread Trooper; (2) Dread Commander; (3) Resistance Ambush Pod Station; (4) T.R.A.C. 5000; (5) Bio Dread Armoured Destroyer; (6) Skybike ST-300 (7) Missile Lock Indicator. Here are the 24 figures, vehicles, and playsets that were produced: (1) Captain Power; (2) Hawk; (3) Tank; (4) Pilot; (5) Scout; (6) Lord Dread; (7) Blastaar; (8) Sauron; (9) Tritor; (10) Stingray; (11) Power On Energizer; (12) XT-7; (11) Phantom Striker; (12) Interlocker; (14) Dread Stalker; (15) ATR Proton Cannon; (16) Magnacycle; (17) Trans-field Comm Station; (18) Trans-field Base Station (aka Eden Two); (19) Power Base; (20) Sauron Beam Deflector; (21) Blastpak 1200; (22) Mobile Sky Bike Launcher; (24) Dread Anti-Personnel Patroller. Here are pics of the entire released Captain Power toy line from Captain Power Lives! ( captainpower.tumblr.com/): Soldiers of the FutureDread's Forces

I snagged a Dread Trooper finally! Got in a mixed lot from overseas. Not sure if he came with accessories yet, I'll have to check the accessories bag. For some reason photobucket isn't doing anything for me, so I had to use imageshack for a change: Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usThis guy is awesome! His helmet lifts up to show his yellow robotic eyes underneath. Edit: I found his weapon! Uploaded with ImageShack.usHere's a comparison pic with Stingray Johnson: Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I had no idea either, I'm guessing it must have had an extremely limited run. I'm hoping the Dread Commander is out there somewhere too.

AWESOME FIND!
I guess that answers our question if it was produced or not. Was he in a lot from Europe or Asia off-hand?
Leo also LMK if you would like to submit a pic of it with a black background for the site archives?

I can do that, I'll try and find a black piece of paper to do it on today! I got him in a lot from the UK. Mixed action figures, had other random 80's stuff in there as well, but nothing as unique as this guy.

Mixed action figures, had other random 80's stuff in there as well, but nothing as unique as this guy. With black backgrounds its best to use black cloth as paper gives to much of a glare. I also put a piece of white paper beside the figure to reduce glare, it works really well (then edit it all out). LMK and much appreciated!

I really do need to get a better camera. Thanks for the tip with dark cloth, I was having a hell of a time finding any black paper to use.

Thanks man, I think I can use that second picture. Would it be to much trouble to ask to take one more? Same as the second picture but if you put a white sheet of paper or a plastic sandwich bag on one side of him it will take away all the glare. LMK
