You know, the ones where you had to cut out so many UPC symbols from the cardbacks, send them in and get a free vintage Star Wars figure? I remember doing it once when I was a kid for 4-Lom. The funny thing is that I remember that the offer said it had been expired for almost a year (somewhere I picked up an older ESB carded figure), but I sent it in anyways. Sure enough I it arrived later on boxed in a Kenner baggie! I believe my brother sent away for the Emperor from the ROTJ line as well.

I sent in for every single one of them, from Boba Fett to Anakin Skywalker. As a kid, there was no greater joy than getting that little mailer box in the mail that said Kenner on it!

There was a discount store near where I lived growing up that had a bunch of star wars figures in little baggies. They were original Star Wars but this was probably the early 90s that they showed up at the store. They only had a few figures but there were probably hundreds of each and I remember they were 25 cents apiece in a big bin. I bought a few since I was never able to afford them when they were in stores but I could have bought a lot more. Could these have been leftover mail-away toys? If it helps I could name the ones they had:
Bib Fortuna Gamorrean Guard Logray Rancor Keeper
I think I ended up buying 2 of each.

I remember that to. They had a table full of 4-5 different ones and a small wicker basket that held a ton of weapons. I made sure every fig I bought was loaded to the max. ;D

I got 4-LOM, Emperor, Anakin. I believe Nein Numb (spelling?) was a send in as well. Mom would buy me new figures to get enough for the free ones . I later got Han Solo in the Storm Trooper outfit in the mail.

I remember sending in for the 1st Boba Fett figure. I probably got at least a dozen of them. Most didn't survive the action figure wars. Most were burned, blown up by m80s

Most were burned, blown up by m80s Ahh, yes. The fate of many of my Joes. Although I preferred BB guns to burning. I don't think I ever burned any of my toys except maybe some army men. Firecrackers though, oh yeah, they would fit nicely in the hole of the torso of a joe and BLAMMO! Hey, what can I say it was fun at the time. Although, if it weren't for kids like us all loose 80s toys would be worthless right?

Holy crap man, i use to do the exact same thing with my joes. i can remember in 1990, in okinawa japan, i took a cobra vehicle with destro, tele vipers, and a couple other cobras to the top of a hill in my back yard, and boobie trapped it with firecrackers ALL in the backs where the screws are, and boooom!! it was amazing. totally worth it.

I did. Sent away for the Emperor. Took what felt like months for him to arrive. I wish I had cash as a kid. I woulda sent away for a ton of GI Joe stuff with those FLAG points. How did I miss out on that?!
