I have been a big fan of plastic army men and figures since I was a kid, is there anyone else out there who collects the plastic army men, ninjas, fantasy characters etc. I have here some pics of my collection of unique and interesting army men as well as a few common pieces.

I used to have a huge collection when i was a kid back in the 80s . You could buy them in clear bags at my local shop. Each bag had a different country ...from memory the colours of the countries were usa = dark green , Australia = kaki , german = dark grey, japan = light grey, france dark blue...each set came with a tank a jeep , a flag and a sandbag wall thingy... I also had 5 different sculpts of the large scale figures (same as the one you have on the back left of your picture) ..i don't know who made those cause i only ever bought them from swap meets, garage sales etc. Later on the released boxsets which came with plastic playmats showing rivers hills etc and they came with larger tanks that looks more in proportion with the figures...these came with bridges too ...

I have two other of the large ones, a grenadier and a Mine Sweeper. The one pictured there I found at a thrift store with a bag of smaller army men.

I had TONS of army guy type plastic cheap-o figures. We had a discount store called Zyla's where they had tons and tons of outdated toys and cheapy awesome crap. I didn't usually go for the traditional army guys but I had a lot of robots, knights, monsters, aliens, etc. I think my favorite were some bags of knights that were very slim in stature and were only two solid colors, black and white. Their poses were awesome and they were very detailed. I also had some monster ones that were fluorescent colors including a grim reaper, a mummy, a witch, vampire, etc, etc. Was always cool to get a whole bag of figures for a buck or two. Sadly this place closed in recent years but I'm not surprised as I remember the roof of the place used to leak when it rained and a lot of the food and clothes were pretty scary lol.

I still have ALL my childhood army men they are up by at my parents house. If you look in the first picture there are some galaxy laser team in there and some ninjas. In the second picture the tiny tan guys in front were from my dad when he was a kid, they must be from the 60s I think. He painted the tiny oil drum himself too. The little blue guys to the left of those are tiny civil war soldiers, and of course I added some GUTS in there. Ill have to add more pics!

Mine Too! They are from DFC toys is what muckmonster told me. I have 2 of those blue wizards, and I seriously have had them since the early 90s. They came in a bag with the gargoyles and the green worm and they were some of my favorites growing up, especially if they were included in army men battles! lol

By far m y all time favorite bath time toy was green army men. You could bet I would take a bath and defend the waters all at the same time. My personal favorite was the guy kneeling with the bazooka. It brought a tear to my eye when Pixar had these guys in the Toy Story franchise. What's better than green plastic army men? GUTS! Slightly bigger and more detailed.

I should try and fit my military muscle men, ill take more pics. @funky-that ninja is awesome, im sure i have that one somewhere @ mrj-the bowmen are tight. Got them at the thrift store in a bag with army men, the bowmen caught my eye.

Defzombie what's the green snake looking thing in your third pic? Is his face melted or is he facing the wrong way or what? Can you take a close up of it? Also, in the fifth picture is the goblin looking thing actually two colors of plastic (sea green/lime green) or is that another of your dad's paint jobs?

Those are DFC Naga. For some reason about every second one I see has a melted face. Here is a photo of him: These guys (virtual toy chest) have a pretty good web page showing most of the little plastic guys with alot of the color variations as well...all my Naga are green this one seems to be yellow?

They are dfc naga, i didnt know theyre faces were melted lol i just figured they were giant worms. As for the 2 colored gargoyle, i think its just warped plastic discolorization. I didnt even notice it till you mentioned it lol

Heres some more shots Its so nice to see a toy company that's not body-fascist. Those guys could audition for the oompah loompah roles in the next Willy Wonka movie.

It's weird, there's no rhyme or reason to the few 'army men' and 'plastic dinos' I've kept over the years. I mean, I come across them everywhere but never pick 'em up, it's just a matter of what's trickled into my collection, usually from found or childhood items. I now hafta wonder why I've never stumbled across ninjas... A bucket o' Cowboys n' Indians, 1 big scale army man, Arco space robots, tiny scale Afghanistan dudes, Xenomorphs even, but no ninjas!! Deprived!! Come to think of it no fantasy theme 'army men' type figures at all (I would've gone gaga for them as a kid) Gimme a barbarian o'er a robot ennyday!
