Great three-punch combo: first I found out out the actual name of one of this favorite of mine as a kid, second I found back some drawing made using it by my 10 year old self and finally scored one complete set on E-Bay just yesterday! Mighty Men and Monsters Makers allowed to change face, body and legs plates to scrub superheroes, monsters, and everything in between using paper and crayons as for fashion plate for girls, only this time in manly way. Discovering this back, I realize that what still thrill me; heroes, monsters, and everything in between... Now here for my very own mad creations from 1986 or so: Dr Dinosaur Drake, vile reptilian genius The Red Trouser Phantom, galant hero The Napolitano King Kong, three-colored master of tropical escape The Haunted Mill Werewolf, terror of the countryside

I have always liked this toy...I had it a bit earlier than 86 I think. I spent alot of time making drawings just like these...cool!
I have my old one still but it was missing a part or two. I was lucky enough to go to a garage sale at a closing day-care / pre-school where the lady had a set and a red hiss tank from the 80s. I got both for a buck! I completed mine and have almost another complete set I use put out there for sale/trade.
What did the one on ebay cost you???

Mine I also got earlier; of what I've seen this toy seems to have been out for the first time in 1978 and re-issued up to around 1982 or so: www.samstoybox.com/toys/MightyMenMonsters.htmlI remember those pic I posted ealier were from a time I got it back from the closet after some time. Probably got mine accross 1982 and played for it a few years. Got a complete one (with beaten up box) for 35$ plus 15$ shipping from the US to Canada. I've seen a few more expensive ones. That pretty sweet you still have your from childhood one and managed to complete it for a buck; at least on my part I found back vintage drawing!

My sister had the Barbie one...or a similar pink set...but its long gone. I kept almost everything while she sold everything at yards sales and what not.
I also found a TMNT set years later in the 90s. Its almost the same set up. Its very cool as well.
I can remember still setting up on the kitchen table and making these. I sure do wish I had kept a few...yours are priceless...I guess the next best thing would be to put my kids to work and make a few! ;D

This sort of reminds me of a kit I had when I was a child. If I remember correctly it was a bunch of plastic pieces and you put them on a big ink pad like they were stamps and mix and matched the different heads, bodies and legs to get different robots.

Do you have the name; I looked around and didn't find any info on this, excerpt people commenting they had one along their sisters Fashion Plates! Sound pretty fun. Almost; this one had a crayon holder instead of ink As you said, you'll place the plates (arms, legs and faces) on a tray, put a sheet of paper over and scrub the drawing over with a crayon (or colored pencil as did as a kid). Most plates were two sided, some had texture (scale, lines, etc.) to scrub over while coloring the heroes and monsters. Here some pic that make more sense that what I'm telling: memoryglands.com/mighty-men-monster-maker
