What action figure do you wish you would have bought, but never did? Ever find yourself yearning you a good Time Machine? For me in would have been the third series Super Powers line. These are so hard to get now at a decent price, and back in the 80's, they were bargain bin fodder.

I remember seeing the 3rd Super Powers series in Woolworths and thinking how cool they were. I was starting to get out of toys at the time and only bought Tyr (it was the last figure I would buy for awhile). I remember the store racks being full as I think they just put them out! If I could go back in time, I would love to check out the vintage 12" Star Wars line on the shelves. I don't remember ever seeing these in stores and it would have been awesome to buy them all at once for cost back then! I can't stand it, I have to stop typing in this thread.... I'm starting to tear up

My dad and I went to Lionel Playworld back in the early eightes and they had all of the last of the Mego Superhero figures on super sale for 2.98. HE got me Batman and Robin. I would love to go back and get the rest of those suckers that just sat there on the shelf.
That and a MIB DeathStar Playset fresh on the shelf.

Here's a question, what if you had a time machine and was unable to take anything back with you? Here's what i would do.
I would buy all the stuff I could, and take them to my parents place. I would tell my dad that I worked for Woolworths and had to get rid of all this old stock. I was on my way to the garbage dump and I thoought maybe somebody would like the stuff as it would be a shame throwing it out. I would tell him to store it in a safe place and to not get rid of it as it would be worth $$$ someday. My dad is good with stuff like that.
Worse case scenario, my child self would find the stuff and play with it. I would end up with it either way. ;D

I'd probably take it to my parents house as well. Although, if I approached my parents with a trunk load of toys, telling them to hold on to them because they might worth a load of $$ someday, they'd probably call the cops and give my toys to my child self, who would play with them until they were sold at a yard sale the following summer. I guess I would sneak into the house while they're at work and stash them in the attick somewhere.

How about going back in time at Christmas, buying all the stuff then sneaking into your house and putting everything under the tree? Can you imagine the pile of stuff You would sure make a Christmas to remember for yourself.

Let's say it's 1988 and you were heavy collecting like we all do now, and you're the age you are now with the finnacial situation & life style you have now. how much do you think you'd be spending and how much would you be getting at the stores like woolworths, toys 'r' us and/or kiddie city.? I know that brand new toy prices in stores are 3 times more then what they were back then. what would you be buying and how much? P.S. if stores mentioned in above question don't match the ones in your neighborhood, please adjust accordingly.
my answer would be inhumanoids, indiana joes & super powers. not because of value now, but because I liked them back then but didn't get them in their original release. oh, and transformers.
P.S. if this topic has already been covered please disregard and shoot me into the sun by cannon. Thank you.

1988? I would buy MOTU's Mantisaur (was it still for sale at that year?) for myself and Mosquitor for my brother. In 1988, only Ghostbusters were interesting me (and I have them all). But if you had mentionned 1985, I would have mentionned MUCH MUCH more: the whole line of Imperial's "Dragons, Knights and Daggers", all the creatures of Arco's "The Other World", all Transformers animal cassettes and many She-Ra's steeds. Probably I would have been carried away and add to my list Blackstar's Warlock and TritonBull, plus many many others...

1985 seem that to many good things were out and 1988 seem like some of those things would have been on sale if they still had them in stock. If you recall, items were left on shelves for the longest times back in the late 80's & 90's. but all of the stuff we desire now was easily more abundant in 1988. Then my question would be, when do you think you should have started your collection. I only started collecting in 95-96. Maybe I should have been collecting in 88?

I would have preferred 1985 also as I could have picked up at least 3 sets of AWA wrestling figures (one carded, one to sell later and one loose), the thumb wrestlers and ring sets. If it was 1988, I would be collecting the LJN figures of the WWF (which I did for my son but not me) and I would have done the same with the 8" ones, the bendies, thumbs and ring with cage that I have now had to do..

Wish I was collecting toys around the time some of the big retailers crashed and burned, like Gemco and Montgomerey-Wards. I remember getting a birthday gift of 20.00 and going to Gemco's in the mid 80's when they were running out of business and had everything on clearance. I walked out of there with 8 or 9 MOTU figures with that 20 bucks.

Here is exactly what I would do. I'd go to Tallahassee, FL and hit up Zayre's. Now after I see my younger self leave with a bunch of clearanced Rock Lords, I'd go in and clear out the aisle Imagine if you will, Rock Lords figures (Including Jewel Lords) for $2 each and Rock Lords Vehicles for $5 each. Then I'd go about 5 feet further down the aisle and pick up all sorts of Joe toys and Transformers

If you could go back in time and somehow have an influence so that your favourite toy line had1 extra wave of toys at the end what would you wish for. To keep this from spiraling out of control you are only allowed 5 figures, 2 vehicles and 1 playset. example... Masters of the Universe Heman in horde trooper armour, queen marlana, A proper faker heman with glowing eyes and maybe a panel that showed internal electronics, shadow weaver, orkos uncle, vehicles a cartoon accurate attack track van, skeletors ship, playset :Palace playset with man at arms workshop, Randors throne room etc

I'd have to go with a Pirates of Darkwater wave 2 with 5 more figures, and a Maelstrom vehicle. I really think that show and toyline had so much promise but was executed at the wrong time..

My ultimate wish is not about what was produced, but rather the sclae.
I wish Transformers had been sclaed better. Like Seaspray and Bumble Bee should have been more inline with the other autobot cars. I wish all the constructicons and other combiners had been Optimus Prime size as individual robots, so that combined forms would have been much larger. I wish Metroplex Tripticon and Scorponok had all been Fort Max size, or even better had they all been scaled to acomodate say Prime sized Transformers. So instead of Bumble Bee rolling down Metroplex's ramp imagine it was Wheel Jack or Sun Streaker I know the tooling costs would have been huge, but it would have been awesome.
I also wish MASK, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, and Starriors had been 3 3/4 scale. I mean could you imagine how awesome that would have been. It would have been sweet to integrate those sets with GI Joe or Star Wars. I did that alot with Robotix.

I agree with the scaling problems of transformers. I was always annoyed that the dinobots were smaller than megatron and optimus in the toyline but were larger in the cartoon. Also shockwave was too big and all the gesaults should be the same size as the autobot cars. Also i didn't like the way that ratchet ,ironhide,Jetfire/Skyfire, looked nothing like the cartoon. It'd be great if they made a 1metre tall trypticon and Metroplex they'd probably retail for $1000 each but i'd bet they could sell a 1000 of them each . Thye had that lego millenium falcon at my local toys r us and they sold all 5 of them and they were $800 each so there is money out there in the toy world.

I'm not gonna lie I literally freaked out when I got my first Optimus Prime and he was so....small. I mean, really? Even the toy catelogs always seemed to make him seem larger than most of the other autobots. My first TF's were roadbuster and scattershot, so when I was finally able to even get a prime, i was sadly disapointed.

4th wave of Super Powers, including the Fortress of Doom or whatever it was called that made it onto the promo materials.
And I agree as to the 3 3/4" scale standard. Making them smaller probably saved a lot of money, but being able to integrate with Joes would have been nicer...

for me its pretty simple, i wont think about all the lines and what may have come. i just want a couple of lines through the years where they actually got to the point of showing the pictures in advertisement then ended up not releasing the wave, that is frustrating beyond words. for me personally it would be these.
the old butch and sundance line was going to change its name to the real west and it had pictures for geronimo and billy the kid but they never came out.
galoob had there late 80s star trek the next generation figures. and the next wave was suppose to have wesley crusher and a romulan but it never happened. i think that romulan is my most wanted figure ever.
the modern indiana jones line for the 5th film. the next wave was suppose to be a really cool raiders wave that looked better than the waves that did get released and flooded the stores. it was going to have a couple of the figures i wanted most out of that whole line and it never made it out. they had also mentioned some cool stuff like the ark ghost which never happened.
and last. the old original V mini series. i wanted figures for that so bad as a kid. and now as an adult ive seen actual catalog pictures of a 3 3/4" line but it never happened.

Hmm, if it's going to be limited that much, I would have to say the following (although since others have done so already, I'm "stretching" those limits- since most of my list was made, but simply not released):
Visionaries: Iron Mountain (unreleased) Galadria Virulina
Captain Power: Jumpship Dread Trooper (unreleased) Dread Commander (unreleased)
Centurions: John Thunder (unreleased) Rex Charger (unreleased) Groundborg Cog Thunder Knife (unreleased) Gattling Guard (unreleased) Fathom Fan Awesome Auger (unreleased) Strato Strike (unreleased)
Silverhawks: Copper Racer (unreleased) Hawkhaven
M.A.S.K.: Shark
Transformers: Devcon

No Thundercats? That surprises me, considering we've all seen the figures in the catalog (Mad Bubbler , the 2 other Berserkers, among others) that they intended to put out...
I personally would want them to release the other 2 AD&D windups (Pernicorn and Terasque). I already have the Cave Fisher, but I've only ever seen ONE Pernicorn, and it's carded, probably a salesmen sample. The other has never been seen. I'd love to have both of those.

I'd rather take a time machine back to 1979 with $2,000 and spend it all on Star Wars and Mego toys. Then return to present time and become a multi-millionaire.
