I am trying to upload some pictures of some stuff I found and the file is too large. I don't know how to "dumb down" my images so that they will load. Anyone know what I need to do?

Are you using Photobucket? If so, their is a setting in your preferences on the site where you can reduce the size of all pics you upload their.

Thanks, I tried photobucket, couldn't get it to work so now trying flickr. I don't really want to post a link, would be nice to just post some pics but I guess I'll have to settle with what I can get lol.

Have never tried Flickr, but I would think they would have a similar setting. Check your site preferences when you login and their may be an area where you can set the default upload size.

I you have windows then you more than likely have the program paint. Right click on the image and open it in paint > resize the picture by like 50% at first and see what size it is. Keep sizing the picture down to where the picture is no larger than 800 x800 for most computers are a 1000 pixels high. Then hit save as so you don't overwrite your original picture. This is very easy to do with paint which is standard on most computers.

Ok how do I post the image as part of my message and not a link after it is the appropriate size on paint?

In your post, click the image button (you will see it, looks like a picture. It will insert the image tags, then just paste the image link in between the closing and opening brackets of the 2 tags. Like this:
[ img ] yourpicture. jpg [/ img]

Thank you 10 incher. I also thank those who have been quietly placing my posts/threads where they belong in my noobishness (it may be you for all I know lol).
