Has any collector actually seen or owned a real Nitro Viper file card. the driver of Cobra Detonator. I read in Bellomo's Gi Joe guide book that a custom card was made and then approved later by Hasbro. Just wondering if this was rumored or real fact.

I have never seen one myself but would jump on the opportunity for the right price. Actually the magazine with the card intact would be a cool piece to add to a collection too.

There is a few people out there who are working on reproducing the file cards in a 'collectible' reproduction kinda way...if that makes sense. I hope they do some of these rare type of cards. I am a big fan of the art on the packages and am all for anything reproduction.

The card is actually sturdy cardboard....it was not printed as part of the magazine, but placed on a piece of cardboard which was bound/stapled into the spine of the magazine. Once cut out, it fits nicely into a vintage Joe file card collection.

Lee's Action Figure News & Toy Review did a special convention issue for the 1994 GI Joe convention. The Nitro Viper file card was included with that issue.
The card was actually written by a GI Joe collector (I've heard two different names associated with it). The card was later "officially sanctioned" by Hasbro but is still considered to be a fan creation by some in the hobby.
I think I got my copy of that magazine for something like $15, but that was a long time ago. I see the file card for sale from time to time but it seems to bring around $75 now.
