I am trying to piece together a collection of Rambo figures by Coleco and was wondering if anyone has pics of loose complete figures? I have a bunch of weapons but don't know what goes with who.

I picked up a Headquarters earlier this year from a guy locally. It is missing a few parts but is pretty neat when it is all set up.

I won a SAVAGE Strike Headquarters today for a pretty good price off ebay. It looks complete except for a couple of barrels. Thanks so much for these pics. They help a ton in trying to get all of the little accessories for this line.

My wife used to work at Coleco. During that time, Rambo was conceived and launched. She was only an intern but it was what she worked on the most with still photography for catalogs, toy commercials (helping setup toys, etc.), and even hand painting 3 of the cardbacks (both ninja & whip-action warhawk). She did that among other stuff for Coleco. Of Rambo, we have 15 pre-production figures and 1 pre-production vehicle. Most are either complete or very close to complete. We also have 5-6 cardback proofs. These are the cardback artwork pieces that are a bit oversized compared to the final cardback I would think. 3 of them are of my wife's paintings and those 3 are framed. Those 3 happen to be on thick cardboard type material, while the other 2 stored away are on very thin cardboard. Not sure why. Finally we have 2 of the original full-size cardback paintings my wife did. Someone snatched the white ninja before she could get it unfortunately. And I've taken photos of it all to share! Never did this online yet, so this is a first. And yes I know that the figs are dusty. They're on cheap shelves right now. I'm planning on air blasting them a bit cleaner and getting them on better shelving in the near future. Here's a couple of interesting tidbits: 1) You'll notice the motorcycle's stickers are a bit thick. That's because they weren't stickers at the time. Just images that my wife had to print out and cut via an exacto knife that she then glued onto an exacto-knifed piece of thin foamcore which are then glued to the proper places on the bike. 2) You'll notice 2 little yellow cats next to a Dino in that picture. Those are Coleco too. The bigger yellow cat is a resin prototype and the smaller yellow cat is the final plastic figure. Oh and why are the figs and bike "pre-production"? Because before Rambo officially was a toyline, Coleco had about 10-20 sets of figures made to market the toyline around the world. Much fewer (3-4) of the vehicles were made I believe. All were created in the basement of Coleco HQ. 1-2 sets of each were kept in house 24/7 for catalog & other uses. So all of those are essentially the "first" figures ever made. It's also why they look exactly like the retail figures. www.blueharvestcds.com/raretoys/myrambo/

Wow!!! that stuff is so great. Dr. Hyde.....drool.... Dust those things already......don't make me come over there and bring my air duster!!! Eventually they'll be displayed with more respect. To bad there no figure stand out there that can hold the damned things. For oversized figs they should make stands with a plastic poll and clip that fits around the waist of the figure. That'd work great. Yeah and Dr. Hyde's light-up dome still works!

So I got my Savage Strike HQ in the mail.....HOLY HUGE. It is 3x3 and the tower is about 2 1/2 feet high. WOW!!!! I have no clue how I am gonna display it. Here are a couple of pics. I threw a ML Punisher on there so you can tell just how large it is. And yes....Max Ray is patrolling the scene from the tower.

Right now I have a boxed HQ (missing a few pieces), the Strike Cycle (complete & loose), Rambo, Havoc, Trautman, Gripper, Turbo, White Dragon and a set of Snakebite's weapons. I am missing a few accs. to some of the figures, but do have weapons for figures I don't own. I am trying to piece together a collection of these without actually buying anything on Ebay . It'll probably take me 10 years.

It prob. will take that long. It seems like some of those series 2 figs are hard as crap to get. A shop near me has a few but they want way to much for them with no acces. I hate resorting to ebay...but hopefully someone put up a decent auction with near complete access.
I really dig the Snakebite and Dr. Hyde figs. So sweet!!!!

A lot I bought on Ebay just arrived with nearly all the vehicles and weapon sets complete. Anyone know if the Swampdog & Stormbomber were released? I have never seen them anywhere for sale, though I must admit, I have only been tracking the figure line for a few months now.

I honestly couldn't say. The Tomart's I have with the Rambo article only mentions "parts" of Series 2 and all of Series 3 was not released. Series 3 was the "Gold" series so those two vehicles were definitely part of Series 1 or 2. Doesn't answer your question, but it's all the info. I've got.

I'll have to keep an eye on Ebay for them then. So If i am correct X-Ray was only produced in South America and the 3rd version of Rambo wasn't produced (as far as what I have read on other Websites). Anyone have any info to what was to be included int eh 3rd series?

So If i am correct X-Ray was only produced in South America and the 3rd version of Rambo wasn't produced (as far as what I have read on other Websites). Anyone have any info to what was to be included int eh 3rd series? I think you're right on X-Ray. Tomart says specifically that parts of Series 2 and the entire Series 3 were not released in the U.S.! I don't think I made that distinction in my previous post. And the carded picture of X-Ray in Tomart is on a Spanish card. Also, there is another guy called Serpiente that's on a Spanish card too. I believe both of those guys are the only unreleased U.S. Series 2 figures. I come to this conclusion because Tomart's has a little price guide in this 2003 issue. MIB, all of Series 1 is about $20. The first 3 of Series 2 (T.D. Jackson, Chief, Whip-Action Warhawk) are $30-35. Dr. Hyde jumps to $90, but there's a U.S. carded pic of that guy. X-Ray and Serpiente come in at $110. All of Series 3 figures are $90-110 too. Oh, and by the way, thanks for asking these questions. I really didn't give a critical eye to what my wife has from Coleco. I HAVE a loose Serpiente!! Near complete. Just missing 2 of the tiny snakes. He's the guy w/ the snake around his neck: www.blueharvestcds.com/raretoys/myrambo/Figures%2002.JPGw00t! Then showing my wife she kills me by telling me she had the Swampdog prototype when she was at Coleco. It was all resin and was really heavy she said. It had 2 fans in the back. The final had 1 fan. And get this. There's a guy on eBay trying to get rid of a blueprint of the Swampdog and it shows 2 fans!! I e-mailed the guy that "Ramboat" wasn't the name. The blueprint has that as a temp name. The guy relisted it as Ramboat for some reason. *shrug* Oh I forgot. The 3rd Series. It was called Rambo Gold. It consisted of repaints (a yellow/gold color scheme) of 13 figures. KAT got blonde hair too. They went extreme on the dumb "gold" idea. A mix of series 1 & 2. Including similar repaints of 4 vehicles. Fire me a PM to remind me and I'll post a scan of the entire article sometime this week. Probably on Saturday.

I believe Serpiente was also released in the USA but as Snakebite. I have a set of weapons for him but not the figure. I've seen him with no accessories on Ebay from time to time. So Muscle Power Rambo was never actually released then and yours is a pre-production piece? Nice pic of your Rambo figures BTW, LMK if you ever decide to sell the lot. I actually just acquired a Hyde figure but sadly he is missing his right forearm. I am missing his handgun (but have everything else), is this the proper handgun for him shown in this pic? www.toyarchive.com/RamboDrHyde1a.jpg

I'm the one with the Coleco employee for Christ's sake. You'd think I'd remember this stuff! Yeah it seems like Serpiente has a totally different paint job. Jeez. I thought Muscle-Power Rambo was the basic Series 1 guy!! Man I am OUT of it tonight. And I have BOTH too. That doesn't help me look sane. At least one of these suckers is uber-rare. Yeah he's pre-production. They all are I believe. Or they're from the first batch ever made. One or the other. Tomart doesn't even list the Muscle-Powered Rambo, even though he's in Coleco's 1987 catalog. So I can't trust this Tomart article 100% anymore. According to Coleco's catalog. Which I guess I should trust. Series 1 didn't include Nomad. But there's 4 pictures for Series 1. 3 of them have 3 figures and the other has only 2. Perhaps they deleted him out of the announcement of Series 2 because of that rumor that he was offensive to arabs? *shrug*.Tomart does list him as Series 1 though. I think I might believe that since he's not there at all with the "new" label the Series 2 guys have. And according to the catalog, Series 2 did include Muscle-Powered Rambo and X-Ray. Probably the ones never released in the U.S.? Onto Dr. Hyde's gun. Hmmm I honestly don't know if that's it. The catalog pic has his gun holstered so it's really hard to see the detail. No image I can find shows it either. Thanks on the compliment. There will be future pics and they will definitely be displayed better. Going to get black doll stands for them, and those bookshelves will be replaced. If I ever sell them I'll definitely contact you first when the eBay auction goes up. Cause if I'm selling them, that means I need money BAD

;)No problem! Its so tough to find pics of any of these guys loose with all their proper accessories (shown so you can actually see them). I am currently working on a Rambo section for the main archive and just want to make sure i have everything correct. As for Gripper, does he come with 4 or 5 uzis? If it is 5 are they all the same? LMK if you would be interested in supplying a few pics of some of the rarer figures I don't have - Muscle Power Rambo, Snakebite and X-Ray (if you have him). I can LYK the details of how to lay everything out if you are interested. Here is some info: actionfiguresca.proboards43.com/index.cgi?board=board&action=display&thread=1113598937

As for Gripper, does he come with 4 or 5 uzis? If it is 5 are they all the same? I'm really unsure. Coleco's catalog shows he came w/ a baretta, machete, and 4 Uzis. However the ankle harness I have for him doesn't hold a baretta. It perfectly holds a 5th Uzi. From design to final product, Coleco seems to have gone back and forth on accessories. I pointed out to my wife that the purple backpack she has on Black Dragon actually came out for Mad Dog. She said she didn't want to "fix it", because when she put the backpacks on, it was according to what the R&D people told her. She got a list of who came with what and setup the in-house figures for pictures, toy fairs, etc.. Also, the catalog Mad Dog pack had black straps affixed to the inside of the pack. The retail pack, and what I have, have silver crossed bullet straps attaching to the 4 side corners via pegs. A similar thing happened with K.A.T. I think the best you're going to do for figuring out the accessories is to wait for MOC auctions and get a nice close-up of them. I'd be more than happy to snap shots of Muscle Power Rambo and Snakebite. X-Ray is one that we don't have unfortunately. I see your guidelines for a black background. I think I can swing something this Saturday. I'll PM you with a link to the pics when they're done.

I picked up a Rambo collection this weekend - all MOC and MIB. Don't ask me how much I paid! It came with all of the US release figures, vehicle, etc. Only thing I didn't get was the Savage Strike HQ, but that will be coming. I also got a bunch of Arco and Remco Rambo toys like child-sized guns, bike accessories, lunchboxes, camo face paint, etc. I'm happy!
