Well, I like every style. My Flintstones cereal premium dinosaurs are cartoon-style, but my collection of sea animals is mostly realistic-styled. The only thing I look for is a piece that shows that the maker knew what he/she was doing. The Flintstones cereal premium Brachiosaurus has all the features that makes it a Brachiosaurus, although it has rainbow colors and a funny cartoon face. I also found, in Dollarama, three sea animals (a sea turtle, a killer whale and a blue shark) that are cartoon-like. Like I said, all I ask for, is that the maker knows what he/she does when making a fig.

It all depend of the line and if it work well.

I really cartoony stuff like the Dick Tracy line by playmate, the stylized horror figure by Mezco

I like vintage style, realistic up to point but still stylized line like vintage Star Wars, Coleco Rambo, Advanced Dungeon & Dragon or Super Naturals.

For the realistic stuff I found it works on movie and horror figure, like these neat NECA 18" of Freddy, Jason and Co. I kind of jump off do when it become so detailed it end up being brittle and overly fragile, like those Tortured Souls or NECA Star Trek figs (I had a bunch of them and many of their wrist snaped).

this is hard to answer. i prefer the basic realistic style. i dont like the really cartoony looking figures like the star wars clone wars figures. and i dont like the really blocky figures like the justice league unlimited figures.
but i also dont like the overly detailed figures like spawn or the army of darkness figure i have. these barely look like toys, they have alot of detail but they also have alot of shading and paint washes which look good when you hold it and look at it. but from a few feet away you cant even see the detail you just see a dark figure because its so over detailed and so small.

So, if I understand well, you like a figure with some sort of "average" style; not with a style that is too "exagerate".

My birthday will be a bit different this year as it is the first one with no family right beside me (In Scotland my whole family was basically in the same town) but to get a card from a friend meant so much so Thank You Bow for thinking about me and to figurecollector for the *coming soon* package

Well, a style I definitely dislike is the "gross" style. You know, things featuring inside organs, , puss or saliva really disgust me and make me leave a place right away. Just cannot stand it.

I like semi super-articulated figures. The MOTU Classics are a perfect example of this style. They have lots of articulation and keep a great amount of detail. The older Toy Biz and even some of the newer toy biz are too articulated, and they loose the great details of teh sculpt.

I also collect cartoony, deformed and super deformed, stylized and vinyl figures of all shapes sizes and ages.

The stylized Mezco figures are pretty cool.

Articulations have a second disadvantage: they loosen. :-/

One thing I never got into was the stylized cartoony figures like Mini-Mates or Mighty Muggs.
Some of them are cool, but I like my figures to be realistic.

My taste is the vintage or classic look. Vintage comic book like super powers or secret wars
Most figures today are overdone.

I prefer the vintage Mego style. Cloth costume, not over loaded with articulation like many of todays action figures and as close to the comic books as possible. For me, simple is better. No need for all the bells and whistles although I will admit some look darn nice.

Many people, up to now, prefer that clasic, simple looks.

i prefer the style LJN did with the Thundercats and Tigersharks line. The figures each have a unique sculpt, bright colors, and are farely accurate to the show. I wish we could have gotten multiple more waves of both of these lines!

I'm a kid from the 80's and love the style back then. I didn't need a figure with a 100 points of articulations and 30 different guns. The style was simple, not over complicated. To me in my collection, Less is More.
