 Other World by Arco
« Thread Started on Jan 25, 2006, 12:12pm »

We'll go figure, i finally find one of the beasts at a local Flea Market, and its one of the 2 I already own (The Two headed dragon I got from Galaxy Warrior). I don't go all out on Ebay for it but do like to get what I can in trades. These guys are more like bendy figures, but are still considered action figures i guess. Anyone else collect this line?

I buy these when I find them but I don't "collect" them. Here are a few picture of Arco figures and sets I had a few years ago. Does anyone know if they sold these guys individually or just in large sets?

I think for the most part, each figure came with one of the little guys (Jipps or Glowgons). Also each creature came with a figure and little guy. There are also a few sets out there as well.

That castle is pretty damn cool, wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of those :)

Frogacuda is also pretty cool, a MOC one just sold on Ebay for around $30. Not to bad, but I passed as i prefer loose figures if possible.

Man, I totally forgot about these guys til I saw them on this site. I had loads of these when I was a kid. Those little purple guys with the clubs RULED!!! :D

I has the castle too. It played well with Castle Greyskull. I never had Snake Mountain as a kid, so this was a good as it got. Looking at it now, I finally notice HOW much it looks like a cross between Castle Greyskull and Snake Mountain. The playmat was the best, had a moat and everything!

I have a few of these from my childhood. I remember seeing the Other World section at Target, and wanting them all.

I'm currently (re)collecting them.

I have had only one of these guys: Lava man, it had a couple of rocks wich he could throw, and a red and purple little creature. This line has not made it long in the Netherlands, I don't thing there are many people here that even remember it.

They looked great though !

Holy crap is right :o

I've been watching various Other World auctions since I signed up here. Can't believe some of the prices.

Most of my remaining stuff is consigned to the sale or trade pile because there's no way I'm trying to get more in the present climate :(

I wanted to bid on it, but that zero feedback bidder drove up the auction way high. That price is crazy.

There must have been a super rare figure in that lot. I know there were a couple of figures I've never seen before!

Can't say as I've seen any armoured figures or the 'rock-catapulting armored turtle' before :-/

Has anyone any idea what a boxed castle zendo is worth? Missing the playmat, 1 flag and 1 snake tooth but othrwise A1.

I'm thinking of ebaying it to raise funds for an upcomming purchase but it'd be nice to know roughly what it might go for. The only one I've seen was in pretty poor shape.

Gort - I sold my MIB Zendo back in November of 2003 on eBay for $100. But I bet yours would sell for higher considering how crazy prices have been lately. :o

Thanks Sanfords, I'm hoping the crazy prices will help but I just wanted a rough idea what one had gone for before :)

Gort, do you still have that castle for sale? I picked up a loose one and need 1 top turret (with flag), the front green part that goes around the door and one of the glow in the dark spikes for the front wall. Were their any other loose accessories that came with the castle? The back part of mine has the two floors with the ladder on each side, just wondering if I'm missing anything else.

Also trying to put together the figures I have with the proper weapons, does anyone have any MOC or loose complete figures for reference? I have been going off the pics from toyarchive, but it is hard to see what some of the weapons look like.

Sorry the castle is long gone. The back just had the two floors and two ladders, there were no loose accessories except the playmat. I'll email you a couple of pics that should show all the parts of the front.

My castle Zendo had much whiter walls. Wonder why.

It was one of my favorite playsets as a kid. Wish I still had it!

Little known fact: Shizo (the two headed guy) was discontinued after the American Psychological Association complained that it gave Schizophrenia a bad name.

That has got to be the lamest reason for discontinuing a figure that I've ever heard! I bet someone made that up. That's like cancelling the Mumm-Ra figure because it made bald (PC: Hair Impaired) people feel self-conscious.

Nope, it's true. It made the papers back in the day, and my mother was a member of the APA at the time (still is).

I suppose Schizo is one of the harder ones to find, along with the lava monster and the humans with armour, I believe I only need Weapons Master ( the werewolf like creature) out of the regular 3 3/4 inch figures. And I never came across that castle, stores in that day were much more interested in stocking MOTU toys.

If I recall correctly, all of my Otherworld stuff came from the local pharmacy, which was able to buy these guys cheaper than MOTU so that they could inflate the prices higher.

I used to have all of these guys, but buried most of them in the ground at the local park years ago. Yes, I went back and tried to find them, but no luck. Some kid somewhere must have been very happy to find these guys.

The castle was a lot of fun back in the day but, looking back now, there's really nothing to it. The recent reincarnation of the MOTU Castle Greyskull is very reminiscent of the Castle Zendo design. Big front wall and some narrow catwalks.

I still have Schizo. Is he worth much? I have the red demon dude too. Everyone else is long gone.
