Another thought popped into my mind: when my father ran a store in the 70s/80s/90s, he would order toys and if they did not sell, any unbroken case boxes went back to the company. I asked him what was done with them then and he said, 'they are either shipped somewhere else, like south America, etc., to try to sell them or they sit in a warehouse. Being these were knockoffs, I doubt they sat in a warehouse, they would be shipped off or re-packaged as soldiers, MOTU, etc. and shipped off to make some money. I am believing the credence of these being shipped somewhere else outside of the US. However, they would have to be somewhere, either sitting in someone's toybox in the attic or in a warehouse. Either way, this second line, if there truly is one, is very, very valuable.

Value really is in the eye of the beholder. There are a lot of collectors who don't like these knock off wrestler type lines, but some, like myself, do. I wouldn't think they are that valuable, but who know what they really go for. I got mine fairly cheap.

I wonder if there is a distributor in the US with a case of them sitting around somewhere that would part with them cheap. That would be a windfall for a collector such as myself, and apparently you. These figures were so well made, so well detailed and, growing up dirt poor, the only thing available at that point and time. If anyone has some in package, I wonder if it lists where the distributor is from or who it is...would be interesting to see if they still can find some kicking around. You never know.

Where did you find those? I look every day for Wrestling Champions on the Ebay and have never seen this packaging.

Oh, I hate to tell you, but I did get them on eBay. 2 of them went for less than $10 and the other just over. I got lucky. Like I said earlier, value is in the eye of the beholder, because I expected to shell out some serious dough and got them for $30 and change all together.

Were they advertised as Madison Wrestlers or Wrestling Champions?

The exact wording for one is as follows:

"WRESTLING CHAMPIONS, Terrible Tony (MOC) Madison Ltd., 1980s"

They were all the same just with the names switched.

I don't know why your search didn't spot these. I usually put "Wrestling Champions" like yourself.

Man, what a find. I have had dreams about going to swap meets and finding them for $3 carded. I had employees last year tell me they found a carded Apollo Creed style at a thrift store. For Christmas they gave me R Truth....never leave it to amateurs.

Here is my latest Madison Wrestling Champions find:

Wrestling Champions Ring with figures (Madison?)

The 2 Wrestling Rings are identical with the exception of the stickers. My one finding is that the one from the Blue Box has pictures of 2 official Madison Wrestling Champions (Tomahawk Terror & American Eagle) and the actual figures inside are from the Unmarked Wrestling Champions (Lemur & Mackintosh). Could this mean that the Blue Carded Figures are from Madison as well? The Graphic on the Blue Box is the same as in the Blue Card from the link I put earlier in the thread, but the figures from the box cover don't match the card back and the ones from inside the box do. Technically, it's still a mystery if they are, but I will just put them as Unofficial Madison Wrestling Champions.

The rings are real easy to assemble. The post pegs just slide in with ropes attached to only one and you wrap them around the rest. The pegs are one solid piece not two flexible tabs, so they slide in and out with ease.

It's nice to see the insides of the boxes. i would have never guess that they were the same rings. It does present a mystery as to the figs.
